This was a great choice. I grabbed a cinnamon roll, and ordered a cup of their filtered coffee (they no longer offer Chemex, sadly) and an order of poached eggs on toast with a side of bacon. This was something new for me, and I loved the simplicity of it. The sourdough toast was amazing, and the poached eggs went with it perfectly. High marks for the bacon also! Service was quick, and everything was brought out promptly. This is a nice coffee shop, plenty of seating, and a quiet place to have a conversation or get some work done. I know the people in the UK love their tea, but I would happily be a regular here if I lived in Belfast.

On the banks of the Lagan, you have views of 'The Big Fish' as well as 'Harland and Wolf and Custom House Square. The food and drink are well priced at only £2.10 for an Americano and a pastry for £2, you can get fed and watered without shelling out. There's a mix of comfortable sofa seating and lunch style tables ideal for groups. There is a big queue at lunch time but the capable waiting staff work through it admirably. This is fine if you're with friends who can grab a table while you order but if you're on your own it's sometimes awkward as all tables can be occupied by the time you've queued up and made your purchase. This is the only flaw with Ground, it's often very busy and I occasionally give it a miss as I know I'll not get a table on certain days (e.g. Saturday). Despite this, there's a wonderful mellow ambience to Ground that's delightful - the sort of unique soothing vibe only found in bookstores and art galleries. A super spot to 'chill out' in during off peak shopping hours.

They didn't have cold water prawns - my favourite if it's a sandwich with butter only - with proper prawn cocktail sauce which must contain cognac. I also grabbed a bag of Tayto cheese & onion crisps. A little known fact: in 1954, the first flavoured crisps were invented by Joe "Spud" Murphy (owner of the Irish company Tayto) who developed a technique to add cheese and onion seasoning during production. The cafe was comfortable and clean. There was a tv but not much banter from the staff who talked mostly among themselves once you were served. They don't have WiFi either which I found very poor in a busy city centre place located not far from the courts and public sector services. I didn't pay, so I've no idea of their prices. So it's borderline 3 stars.

This new store has lots of seating compared to the other two. Queues at present are relatively small compared to the other two cafes, but I think that's because nobody knows about it yet! Staff are brilliant, as is the norm with all Arthur's cafes. Quite frankly the best latte I've ever had in Belfast...maybe I shouldn't be giving the secret away ;-)
