I have been going here since it opened and always order her cakes, i got my 18th birthday cake from debbie which was lady gaga with a coke tin rolled in her hair which was brilliant! Although recently I ordered a cake for my daddy's birthday with a photo printed on it and as always it was great friendly service with a smile with a bit of banter and good craic. Debbie herself is a funny bubbly young woman and always happy to help with any requests I have, I keep going back for the tasty cakes and treats aswell as the good laugh you get with her in the shop. I would recommend this business to anyone, she is always busy with orders so I'd get ordering your cakes in advance they are well worth the money! This is where I will be ordering my wedding cake

I think that I could have done the same job and it would have been much less expensive. The cake wasn't ready on time and I had to wait for it to be finished. By that time there was not enough time to complain that the decoration was not as we had agreed when I had ordered it as it was close to the time of the celebration. Debbie had to ask again about the spelling of the name and the figurine had to be changed as it wasn't the correct colour. This was being done as I was standing waiting in the front of the shop. I suspect that she had taken on too many orders so there was not enough time to do a good job. I will not order from her again.

Patisserie Valerie - Fruit scone - last one at 2pm and an almond croissant in the background.

It came in a little plastic lidded pot that you could hold upside down and the cream wouldn't move. So our plan went awry as by the time we arrived (1:30pm 13 June 2022) they had only one scone left. This was disappointing so we opted for the remaining scone and an almond croissant. The croissant was on the small side and didn't have a generous toasted, crisp, almond topping when it should. The scone came heated and I don't recall being given a choice to have it cold which was preferable. So heating made it crumbly. The butter was in those little foil packs and was solid. Why am I going into this detail, well semi frozen butter isn't spreadable and, placed on a scone heated via microwave, it melts and soaks into the scone before it can spread. Also even solid clotted cream quickly breaks down with heat. The delicious jam was Bonne Maman (means grandmother) soft set in those tiny pots. The cappuccinos were good, the place was cosy and the service really ace and attentive. I had thought a good three stars but I think four is justified.

I had previously…read morevisited Patisserie Valerie at Donegall Square West and enjoyed it but was disappointed with the Castle Lane branch. I ordered a 'specialty sandwich' of toasted ciabatta, mozzarella cheese, avocado, tomato and pesto (£7.95) which was clearly marked as vegetarian on the menu. I mentioned to my waitress when ordering that I wanted the "Vegetarian Mozzarella Cheese Sandwich". Unfortunately I was served a sandwich with ham in it! As a vegetarian this is extremely disappointing. It also concerns me that anyone who may have allergies could not rely on Patisserie Valerie. I quickly called a waiter over to complain, he apologised and brought the correct order. Obviously this took a bit of time and disappointingly my coffee was cold by the time my sandwich eventually arrived. Whilst in Patisserie Valerie a couple to my right were served the wrong cakes, which they pointed out to their waitress, but they accepted them anyway rather than wait on the correct order. Plus I overheard a lady at a table behind me complaining to staff, as she had been served standard tea, not the green tea she asked for. How can a cafe have such terrible service?! Especially given that it wasn't even half full of customers and there seemed to be more staff about than patrons, so it's not as if they were busy! The food was nice when I eventually received it but not worth the shoddy service or price. I couldn't wait to get out of the place and will not return. I went to the counter to pay and had to wait in line behind a couple of people ordering takeaway items. Patisserie Valerie really should have two tills operational so sit in and takeaways customers can pay separately as there's quite a wait whilst staff faff about making up takeaway cardboard boxes. When I eventually got to the till, the lady there, possibly a manager, apologised for the mix up with my order and give me a bit of discount off my bill, which worked out at about a pound. A nice gesture but it didn't even cover the cost of my cold coffee. Patisserie Valerie was very disappointing and due to such abysmal customer service I feel I can't rate them any higher than 2 out of 5. I will not return nor will I recommend this cafe to others.

It was early, bright and warm and my initial focus was Hotel Chocolat for a great flat white. All the staff there are charming. Now, like it or not, as a customer I do like a tad of courtesy and an occasional smile when I'm out shopping - and especially in hospitality. Not much to ask for, I'm a please and thank you shopper and when I don't get it I usually brush it off but here irritated me yesterday (12 August 22). As I said the free pastry deal required £3.45 for the offered coffee and my choice of an almond croissant but I wouldn't return here. M&S do a far better almond croissant for £1. So the PV coffee was good but not great. 3 star. The PV almond croissant was a doughy 2 star and would benefit from lightness and more almond it's more a croissant that may contain almond. The server and service were both grim and minus 5 star and no one should need training to be courteous and mannerly. I stood inside for a few minutes. the only customer, I could see the young lady who was doing something several feet away. I expected her to come along to serve me but as I stood and waited she continued whatever she was doing. So I cleared my throat and coughed and my my dimensions I'm not quiet and at 6' 4 I'm hard to miss. But no reaction and no service so I coughed again - a real bad flu type but nowt. After several minutes coughing and throat clearing I just said loudly hello. It worked but as she approached she offered no greeting, no smile it was simply what do you want, so I chose my pastry and she made the coffee and bagged to pastry all while looking around and it was as if I wasn't there. I paid and she returned to what she was doing and here's what bugged me and tipped it over. I walked to a table to put the bagged croissant into my rucksack and she loudly snarled at me to tell me I'd ordered takeaway and had to go - that's how it came across - as if I was stealing the sugar. I simply noted I was bagging up the croissant and she did not say anything more. I left thinking wow that's not acceptable and downright ill mannered. No wonder I was the only customer there for quite a time. I went into Hotel Chocolat a few minutes away joined a queue and got a great coffee and a warm welcome. If you like ill-mannered, unpleasant staff and shoddy treatment this PV store will be right up your street if your not asked to leave oh and if you don't the good news Is there's an alternative is two minutes away.

The servers are all very friendly and they do try to up-sell as when I ordered my coffee my server tried a few times to suggest food items - saying no thanks wasn't a barrier to him trying a few more times. There isn't any comfy seating here, it's all cheap and functional, certainly there's no couch nor sofa to sit and relax on. This absence of comfy seating is the main reason why I wouldn't order food to sit in and eat. I tend to like to sit and enjoy my food. This is a NI Railways property allowing a number of food franchises. It's not centrally located to Belfast despite being called central station.

Today I got off the train last and managed to avoid the rush of commuters scrambling toward the exit and this presented the perfect opportunity to stop at The Piece of Cake stall without the threat of being crushed in a stampede. The choice of baked goodness at the stall is practically endless. There's croissants, fruit scones (I went for the blueberry scone - super foods and all that), quiche, sausage rolls as well as chocolate cake. Everything on the stall is reasonably priced. My scone set me back £1.50 but I think it's big enough to feed me for the rest of the week. The lovely lady working on the stall noticed that I was unsure of what to get and she recommended a thick folded crepe that was filled with chocolate and was freshly baked 'only an hour ago'. Her suggestion looked divine but I managed to resist and go for the sensible option. She was really informative and told me that Piece of Cake have a stall at St Georges Market and there will be one opening soon at Europa Bus station. I would highly recommend that busy commuters slow down to a stop on their way out of Central Station and pick up some freshly made breakfast or lunch from the Piece of Cake stall. Definitely a welcome addition to the otherwise drab Central Station.

DATE OF VISIT: Sunday 8 May 2016 at lunch time with Caroline S…read more MENU: Small but good with a focus on light breakfasts, lunches and patisserie items. However they really need more Vegetarian and Vegan options and for these to be highlighted on the menu. Nonetheless being Northern Ireland's first licensed patisserie Miel et Moi definitely offer something different from the norm plus a great range of sweet treats and cocktails. FOOD: Absolutely scrumptious and flavoursome. However portion sizes are very small and it's therefore expensive. Our lunches of tomato, red onion and basil salad (£6.75) and goats cheese with carrot jam, herbs and toast (£6.50) were tasty but small for the price we paid, being more starter size than a proper lunch. We noticed a lot of diners around us opting for sandwiches (£4.95) which looked more substantial and economical. Others had quiche which appeared to be a very small slice for £8.50. We shared a mango and raspberry cheesecake which was decadent and probably similarly priced at £4.25 to desserts found in any restaurant. DRINK: Very good with coffees, wine, cocktails, gin and tonics all exceptionally good. COST: Expensive, our bill was £82.42 for 2 people. Coffee and patisserie items are a standard price but lunch dishes and cocktails are overpriced especially given the small portions e.g. a Kir Royal cocktail rings in at £9.95. We actually had very little food but ran up quite a large bill on just a few drinks. SERVICE: Excellent and attentive with all waiting staff extremely helpful and pleasant. We didn't feel rushed out of our table either and ended up sitting on for over three hours. RESTAURANT DECOR/ AMBIENCE: Wonderful especially on a sunny day as the outside seated area is a sun trap during early afternoon. Decor is French influenced with soft muted colours and there is a lovely relaxed yet luxurious vibe to Miel et Moi. IN SUMMARY: Miel et Moi serve delicious food but need more clearly marked Veggy meals on their menu. I found the service, food, atmosphere, drinks and ambience lovely but prices are high so it would definitely be more of a treat spot rather than somewhere I would visit frequently.
