So you think you know what you're getting when you go in to a chain coffee shop like Nero, well, in this one you don't have a clue. There are a few reasons I say this. Firstly you can go in one day and you'll get a perfect coffee served up within 30 seconds of entering and on other days you'll queue for over 5 minutes! There doesn't seem to be any pattern or reason for this - I've been in at exactly the same time 2 days in a row and the service has gone from sublime to ridiculous. The Coffee is as you'd expect - quality. Because of the location and size of this Nero it makes for an excellent meeting spot - you'll always get a seat and most people know where it is so there won't be any confusion that front. Staying with the positives it has a good selection of baked snacks and a great outside seating area located in a suntrap.

To start off with, I'm pretty easy going with coffee, as long as I get a caffine hit there's no issues. For some reason I always find myself coming back to this spot. It's decent coffee, good ambience and atmosphere around the place and you get served quickly enough. The white chocolate mocha with cream is definitely my favourite, but you couldn't have one of these everyday as the calorie count is probably sky high. They have toilets which are tiny but do the job. I guess a plus is that it's also right next door to forbidden planet, (as my picture shows) always worth a visit to see what stock they have in store. Overall decent place to call and get coffee with plenty of seats and in the summer time nice seating arrangements outside.

I am by no means a fan of coffee chain shops, I'm a big fan of the local coffee shop with a bit of atmosphere and these types of places usually lack that. This particular wee shop I think is really good. It has a crackin' location, right on Ann Street and near Victoria Square it is easy to get to and is a great location to pop in if you're out shopping. This place has all the usual coffees, teas and the like, the stuff you buy is really standard and not why I like this place. What I like is that you can go in with your cuppa and a paper and chill out. You can do the crossword and be left on your own to soak up the atmosphere, top stuff. If you love coffee and espressos and the like I can't really speak for them, but as far as somewhere to chill its great.

I am by no means a coffee aficionado, but I am a little picky when it comes to getting my caffeine fix. I prefer not to go for chains and you'll never find me in a Starbucks, but this place does my favourite skinny latte in town by far. Not only does it have the best coffee, it is a brilliant location for shopping and people watching, and I am a little shamed at the sheer amount of time I've wasted sitting outside this cafe taking advantage of the free wifi to potter about on Facebook. Because of the location there can sometimes be a queue, but the line moves quickly and the warming cup at the end is worth it.

Caffe Nero serves coffee which is rich and delicious. The Baristas are politely efficient and I love the fact there's no extra charge for soya milk. A relaxed, warm vibe pervades this Caffe Nero and the seating is comfy making it a delightful place to sit and watch the world pass by.

I am slightly tainted by the fact my friend has recently started work here but I'll be as impartial as I can. I've always liked this little coffee joint. Cafe Nero always has had one of the best espressos in the city, and generally that's what I'm after when I go for coffee. It's rich and silky with a solid kick of rich, nutty bitterness. I landed in to see how my compadre was doing in his first week on the job and thought, if I'm going to be here for a while an espresso will not last. I got a large black coffee (or Americano in coffee speak). Served in a tall mug which was a pleasant surprise from the usual wide mugs served in Costa or Starbucks (the coffee cools down far too quickly plus you look like you're drinking a bowl of french onion soup) It's a nice place to sit and watch the world go by as it's adjacent to the ever busy Victoria Square. One thing I did notice however was a lack of Wi-Fi, which to be honest is a pre-requisite in coffee shops these days (especially if your phone is on the Edge network and has not broadband coverage in the city)

Cafe Nero is a cool Italian coffee shop just opposite Victoria Centre so it's in a prime location for q quick refuel and energy boost. The coffee is good and the place is clean and well run with outdoor seating for all you smokers out there! But to be honest it does exactly what it says on the tin and is quite unmemorable. I do agree that the pastries are good (aren't they always?) and if it's just a coffee and snack that your after you cant really go wrong her.

I go through periods where I'm daft for coffee, can't get enough of the stuff. While I will never be a 'meeting up for coffee' with old friends type of person, I still have my own favourite hit-and-run joints for my own personal needs. I'd much rather meet up for a pint, but don't be reading too much into that. It's a coffee chain store, is Nero. Fancy sandwiches, buns and muffins, you know what the craic is. They do, however, seem to be the only place around that sell these awesome coffee beans covered in dark chocolate - I could eat them like raisins, then spend happy hours picking bits of coffee bean out of my teeth. Totally addictive.

Try your hot chocolate with some mini marshmallows, and a lovely iced toffee bun! Such a treat :D

Hey people, its hard enough to leave a review about a place you used to work for, because you get attached. I still work for the company but currently in another store. Today i have visited my beloved Ann street store, and honestly i was pretty impressed. It was afternoon rush hour, a massive queue - ending outside the door, but i havent been waiting any longer than five minutes. My vanilla latte was perfect as always, and even though the place was full, there were plenty of seats coming up, thanks to the staff clearing tables really quick. ( Just to share a little inside; Eoin from Ann street won the Barista of the year competitions local round! ) :D Get in the queue! Its worth it.

Whoever their graphic designer is, id hire him to...idk. Design my. Life. The donuts were the centre of attention - are my photo of the window display, which was eye catching and immediately had me salivating. They've managed well with COVID, but only one person in the store at a time (a wee cramped space honestly). Might be a long wait at a peak time. We had the place to ourselves however. Ok, donuts; we had A vanilla glazed - just a "control" for the taste science experiment. I have to say it was delicious and fresh, weighty and "doughy". A Boston Creme - the creme was SO GOOD. As a former donut baker, I was impressed with the minimally invasive "creme hole". Nothing was leaky, and the creme itself had a great consistency. The chocolate on top was dark, textured, and great accent visually and for the palate. A chocolate noh-tella: which for a vegan donut tasted surprisingly "unvegan". The donut was dense and full flavoured regardless of the filling; the filling was more viscous than Nutella and had generous sized nuts. A apple chai : yet to eat but apple filled, infused with chai. Looks delicious. Unlikely to be a gimmick. Donuts are so often gimmicks; a crappy donut with some bright colour slapped on it to give it appeal. But a real donut is good regardless of how dressed up it may be; and for that, the vanilla glazed takes the cake. Or yeast. Or dough. Do have a pop in. Looks like their coffee was pretty good as well, although didn't partake this time. The worker was kind and put up with my extensive donut chat, even my creme hole chat. Poor woman. Give it a shot!

The butter wasn't butter but margarine (muck) served with a smile from a friendly server who could have been from Australasia or South Africa. They didn't have cold water prawns - my favourite if it's a sandwich with butter only - with proper prawn cocktail sauce which must contain cognac. I also grabbed a bag of Tayto cheese & onion crisps. A little known fact: in 1954, the first flavoured crisps were invented by Joe "Spud" Murphy (owner of the Irish company Tayto) who developed a technique to add cheese and onion seasoning during production. The cafe was comfortable and clean. There was a tv but not much banter from the staff who talked mostly among themselves once you were served. They don't have WiFi either which I found very poor in a busy city centre place located not far from the courts and public sector services. I didn't pay, so I've no idea of their prices. So it's borderline 3 stars.
