My first visit to Ashers (19.09.2016) and I was quite disappointed. This city-centre cafe is basically a counter with limited seating which sells cakes, breads, donuts, sandwiches, tea, coffee and some soups.
I ordered a blueberry donut and Americano coffee. Said donut was soft and sickly sweet but lacking in any real flavour or taste. The coffee was absolutely terrible, being weak, watery and bland.
I thought for a moment the Server had given me tea in error and turned around from my table to go back to the counter with it, but saw a sudden queue of customers stretched out the door and onto the street. Thus I didn't bother complaining about my 'coffee' but probably should have.
Ashers must be doing something right as this large queue at lunchtime on a Monday were all buying sandwiches, buns and breads. However I'm not impressed with Ashers and won't return. Prices are reasonable but the quality just isn't on a par with other bakeries and cafes around Belfast. read more
