Chicken, brie, sundried tomato and pesto panini
    Diane M.

My first visit here when it opened wasn't great but I thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and return for lunch. But it wasn't any better unfortunately, despite only 1 person in front of me it took 15 mins to take my order, then a further 25 mins before the food arrived. The panini was cold, 1 slice of brie for the whole panini and very little pesto. Very disappointed and won't be back

I ordered the lovely smoked chicken salad sandwich on brown bread with ceasar dressing. The sandwich was accompanied with a healthy portion of doritos and to sum it up,the sandwich was delicious. 5 stars from me, I can safely say that this is the place I will be making my first port of call when going for lunch.

Yes, you heard right. Well, it is a 'fine food' of sorts... Basically that was the only reason myself and my two siblings wandered into this cute deli - the ice cream. We had spotted a display just under the archway for Take Thyme, and a small sign had caught my brother's eye in the process. "Ohhh, Ben and Jerry's!" No questions asked...the three of us practically sprinted over to the right and corner to further investigate. Take Thyme does have a really good range of food stuffs for such a small shop, and apparently these small tubs of the delectable Ben and Jerry's for £1.99 are the latest edition. Despite the protests of "Oh my word, I'm stuffed!" and "I'm not eating any more" a mere hour before, both siblings were super eager to purchase their own little pot of Caramel Choo Choo (my sis) and Chocolate Fudge Brownie (the bro). I was happy enough to remain ice creamless. For the finer foods in life, Take Thyme is a fab little find. That apparently includes Ben and Jerry's. I happen to agree...

They have the bakery as you walk in, to your right, where they serve all the buns, eclairs, pavlovas, scones, cakes, meringues, vanilla slices and turnovers that you can stuff your face with. Up towards the back of the shop, they have the cafe and seating area. They do a variety of food such as making up sandwiches, chips, curry, fries, and all the usual breakfast, brunch and lunchtime fare. The food is just ok, nothing to write home about. It's cheap enough, bit tired looking inside, but nothing exceptional. The only thing about this place that is not mediocre, is the staff. They are sour faced, abrupt, and quite frankly downright rude, so they would need to do something about that for me to ever go back there again.

The icing was beautiful and you really can't beat it as far as bakery cakes go. A little on the pricey side but hey it was worth it. The writing on top of cake was different than your bog standard piping bag writing so that was a plus for me. I only ordered it on Thursday for party on Saturday. All round positive for me. I would regularly buy buns n scones from here also. Never a problem and always tasty....maybe that's why I have put on a few pounds :(

They serve the best coffee in the area, proper Italian Illy coffee, great aroma and proper sizes. We have tried their homemade scones and bunns the last time, also have amazing paninis and sandwiches to offer, not to mention the Morelli icecream. The view from the back of the coffee shop is spectacular, great big glass windows, often the sun is shining in, you feel like being on a summer holiday location The staff is always friendly and helpful, never seen a dirty table or unbrushed floor, tidy clean atmosphere. The pictures are great, some very cool modern art for sale. Worth to stop by if you are passing through Whiteabbey.

The walls are covered by paintings and drawings (for sale) - these have been made by students of a nearby art school. The coffee shop has a full size wall to wall window at the back which gives a nice view to the sea, but thankfully it keeps the noise of the busy shore road traffic out! They started at the end of the summer '15 with mainly coffees, teas and pastries, and they promised soya milk and gluten free products which they introduced lately! Their sandwiches and paninis look so delicious through the counter that good luck not having anything but a drink! My favourite is the duck and mango ciabatta with some kind of chutney and nice decorative lettuce and coleslaw on the side. It is absolutely amazing! The only reason they're not getting 5 star is because of the noise coming from the gym next door. When classes are on, you can clearly hear around 15 people jumping in the same time and this kept giving me the impression (and fear) that the ceiling won't last much longer! But it did so far! and you can sit in the back where the noise isn't disturbing. It's honestly wort it:)
