No major hiccups during the booking and phone consultation with owner, Megan. The HoneyBook software she uses makes contracts, pricing and communications pretty clear. I was paired with stylist Nicole, and I absolutely LOVED her work. She had a very fun personality and took her work very seriously. She was always early for each appointment and checked in throughout the process to make sure I was happy. On the day of my actual wedding, I asked for some minor changes to the trial hair updo and she executed my requests perfectly. The only negative was the salon itself. When I went for my trial run, the space was really tiny (so there wouldn't be a comfortable spot for another person to sit if I had brought someone with me), the lighting was pretty dark and the restroom facilities were rinky-dink. The front room was being remodeled, so hopefully those changes will improve the experience for future clients. read more

Calli was my make up artist for my wedding. She singlehandedly put on my make up, five bridesmaids, and my mom. I don't usually wear make up so I didn't know what I wanted except for me to look beautiful on my wedding day. She made my vision into a reality which was hard since I didn't even know what I wanted. Calli was very patient with me when she did my make up, she told me that I had warm skin tones, and showed me a few examples to pick from. They cancelled on me 2 weeks before my wedding! I filled out all the info online. Then called them to confirm. They said Calli is available for my wedding day, and I set up a trial. On the day of the trial, she calls me in advance and says she's only available until 2:30 pm on my wedding day. My wedding starts at 7 pm so it was way too early to keep my makeup and hair in place. She said the owner Megan will reach out to me and make sure someone else will be scheduled. She didn't- and 2 days later I receive an email saying that they are cancelling on me claiming that I didn't communicate with them enough. All the info they need is in their booking tool- still available and visible online- I have verbally confirmed everything and the times and I have text messages to prove it on top of everything. I have never reviewed any business before but I have to call for attention because this is your wedding day and they are not reliable. It's so hard to find an artist on last minute and I can't believe they dropped me like that. read more

Megan and her team did my MoH's hair and makeup back in 2014 which is how I found her! Her work looked great and I had a FaceTime consultation with her five months out. I did a trial with Megan which was really helpful since I don't have my hair or makeup done very often. She took feedback on what kind of look I wanted, and that helped me feel confident that I'd look great on the day! On the day of my September wedding, Megan and another stylist came to my apartment and did hair and makeup for my MoH, mom, sister, mother in law, two sisters in law, and myself. She did a really great job on my mom's makeup who I am not sure has worn makeup since her own wedding 30 years ago. She looked really great! Brides beware!! Booked with off white for my 2020 wedding. For obvious reasons the wedding did not take place. I had reached out two months before to see if we could postpone due to COVID. I didn't want my money back or to cancel just to move the date. She was extremely rude and had no empathy towards my situation. Out of all my vendors she was the only one who acted in this way during a pandemic. She told me if I cancel or postpone she'll automatically charge me $900 because it's in the contract. Then goes on to tell me my new date is already booked. So I waited it out and once she realized wedding wasnt happening and she had to rebook she was all sweet and nice and magically my new date was available. Another stellar vote for Megan with OffWhite Make-up. I was referred to her by my wedding planner at Perfectly Posh and was so happy she did (I didn't even see all these amazing reviews before booking with her, le gasp for this Yelper). Megan was very quick on email and setting up a time for a phone consultation and what to expect for the trial and actual day-of services. I (along with other people's experience) didn't know exactly what I wanted or what I was looking for- I am not into makeup so much myself. I don't think this is particularly helpful for Megan to go off of- there are a lot of different looks and she isn't a mind-reader. Here is my recommendation- look in magazines or Pinterest or ask friends what looks the best or what style you like, and bring in those pics to her. This will help Megan out and you can get a better idea of what you're looking for. She is very, very open to working with whatever you want- you pick the colors, the style, the boldness, etc. I got individual false eyelashes, a little bit of bronzer and a bold lip- I felt like a million bucks and felt like it matched my vintage-style dress really well. She is SO talented and the airbrush provides such lovely even coverage. Her studio is convieniently located off Linden Ave by Green Lake and she will also travel to wheverever you are. read more

What I value the most for getting beauty services done is making sure that whoever is providing the services is listening, and taking the time to do a careful job, which they definitely did! In addition, I have monolids so getting make up done is always a little terrifying for me, but during the trial I was able to talk through the look with Megan and was quickly rest assured. When it comes to hair, since all of my girls had such different types, it was awesome to see the stylists cater to each individual (I let my bridesmaids choose whatever style was most comfortable for them). First of all, word of advice to brides-to-be: there is nothing *low key* about a wedding. I'd planned on having a reception/reunion of friends and family, nothing *fancy*, but only a few months before the actual date I came to grips with the fact that I needed to look a little more attractive than melted ice cream on the sidewalk, which is when I found Megan, after countless others were booked up months and months in advance. Since we were not having a *real wedding* I was very low key in my requirements. "Make me look halfway decent so I won't clear the room" was my only request to Megan. She had no easy job. Went in for the trial at her studio. The trial is pretty much like the real thing, except Megan pays more attention during the day of. There was one other bride there who was made up to look like a *real* bride, complete with the flowers in her hair. Me - I only asked Megan help me look "natural", not like the world of Suzie Wong, and that the makeup must stay on all day, since I had a tendency to stick my head into a bowl of punch for a swig whenever I feel panicked, which was the entire 6 months leading up to the reception. Got the air brush, hair in a French braid and eyelash extensions and all looked very natural. Even slept in the French braid (not recommended, unless your wish is to experience neck pain at its finest the next morning), which amazingly kept its shape, as it was pinned to my head like cement. The trial eyelash extensions fell off easily when I washed my face, but this was corrected when I had the *real thing*. Megan even had time to do my complaining mother's makeup (sans airbrush) within an hour the day of. (Sewing of the mouth shut is extra.) Me, about an hour and a half. But neither of us had special requests, such as braiding in some chopsticks or a bowl of grapes. Megan's prices are clearly laid out on her website and in the contract. And her prices are more competitive than others. During the process, Megan is quite communicative and concerned that her clients like what they see she's putting on the makeup. She will not give you raccoon eyes or leopard spots, unless you want them. I also suspect that Megan provides "traditional" bridal makeup, meaning her specialty isn't zombie brides nor weaving a bloodied hatchet into your hair. She wants you to look like your dewy, bride-y self at its best. And while my personal limitations might have made me fall short of that goal, it wasn't for a lack of Megan's trying. read more

I worked with Megan at Off White in April 2009 (wow, it's been 3 years!!) for my wedding and had a very good experience. She did makeup for me and 3/5 of my bridesmaids. Megan was very responsive and easy to work with from beginning to end! We met twice before my wedding: first as an initial consultation to look at pictures of makeup she had done in the past; and second to do a trial run. I had a pretty tight schedule, but Megan was able to meet with me on a Saturday afternoon, at her home, to do a trial run. We experimented with different colors and foundations to find just the right fit. Her expertise were very valuable because I wanted the makeup to stay on for the ENTIRE day. This meant pictures starting at 9am (while getting ready at home) until the end of our SECOND reception at midnight (15 hours!!). Megan found just the right makeup: not too shiny, not caked on, subtle yet beautiful. Preparations on my wedding day ran smoothly, as well. I had a morning wedding (with the limo picking us up at 9:30am), so Megan had to be at my place on the Eastside at 7:30am. She arrived on-time, with every eye shadow color under the sun (who knew what crazy colors my bridesmaids wanted, so she came prepared). :-) My makeup turned out great and stayed on the ENTIRE day (my fake lashes stayed on even until the next day, when I took them off....whoops. :-))!! I had a terrible experience with my hair and makeup stylist on my wedding day. Even though we had a successful trial where I was very pleased with the hair and makeup, she didn't seem to remember anything. She had to redo my eye makeup 3 times (2 times requiring complete do-overs). I had to show her a picture that I took of the makeup for her to recall. She also asked to see my pictures of the hair, and the final product didn't look nearly as nice as it did during the trial. We ran over by 30 minutes, at which point we had to severely limit the pictures we could take. It was an incredibly stressful experience. Megan was apologetic and offered a partial refund, which I appreciate. Leading up to the wedding, I found that it often took a while for Megan to respond and we had to change the trial date several times due to the stylist's schedule. Since hair and makeup ended up being one of the more stressful parts of both planning and day-of, I would not recommend Off White. read more

I was the maid of honor so it was important to me that I looked good since I was going to be in my best friend's wedding photos forever! The whole experience was great. My hair stayed put all day, even while I was running around doing setup and taking photos in the wind at Golden Gardens. With the eye makeup, I asked for a "natural" look since I don't usually like to wear heavy eye makeup. She did a great job--it was bold enough to be seen in the photos but I still felt like "me." I am OBSESSED with OffWhite! They did such an incredible job on my wedding hair and makeup, and for all of my bridesmaids and my mom!
