I thought it was a computer ink store. This weekend I was walking next to the storefront and some artwork caught my eye. So I decided to go in and get a closer look at the art. Now I have discovered there is much more to this space. I met the owner, Hunter, who explained the concept. One, the business copies and reproduces pieces for artists who want to sell their work or keep copies of their one of a kind artwork. Seems no almost no job is too big. He offers digital services, in house custom framing, photo reproductions, and fine art canvas & giclée printing. Two, the wall space acts as a small gallery. I had missed the opening night of Moon Cakes & Hungry Gods by local artist Carline Young. Three, there is a small retail space for select artists to sell in. For this space there is an online application to submit for consideration. There is a "to go" spot on Thoma for quick pick ups. As well as parking on Thoma and inside the Stix complex. Take a few minutes and checkout the always changing art displays and products for sale.

I needed to run by the Charter Store in Smithridge to return a piece of equipment. This place is a…read morebit of a joke. I think they are dealing with a lot of mismanagement. When you walk in the store is divided into sections with the emphasis on their mobile phones. Services like Internet, cable TV and related are the other end of the store. You sign in on a (filthy, even by pre-COVID standards) touch screen that was so dirty I felt like I needed to wash my hands after interacting with it. When you finally got to talk to someone they were friendly enough and tried to help but it was going to be over a 2 hour wait time just to return my Internet device. I ended up going to the UPS store to do this. It's free to drop off there - just be sure you keep your receipt. It took Charter over a week to realize the device was returned and credit the account back. Charter and companies like that get away with the lack of customer service because there isn't a lot of competition. WIth 5G and high speed satellite Internet coming online that is about to change. It will be interesting to see if that finally get's them to fix their customer service issues.

When I arrived, I was genuinely impressed. The store is spacious, well organized, and full of amazing gear. I enjoyed taking my time walking through each aisle and exploring. It honestly felt like being in one of my favorite stores and just having fun while shopping. The customer service here is excellent, and the value is just as strong. While sitting there I heard conversations about a range of free with a voucher to $40 and up to $80 for a simple electronic transmission of prints. The service took just over 25 minutes from walking in to registering, paying and then getting printed. The DISGRACE was the payment tablet actually asked for a tip of 15 to 25%. Really? The actual fingerprinting takes about 5 minutes and is transmitted electronically. That is the whole "service". Nearly ALL instances of getting fingerprints is a "requirement" for a job or volunteer situation. A tip, really? Not to mention that they have signed contracts with agencies for the exclusive and mandatory "service". So people cannot opt to go to RPD, SPD or the Sheriff's office where the fees are less than half the price and it would be illegal to accept a tip. I wonder if State regulators like the Nevada Gaming Control Board are aware that this business is soliciting tips from casino workers? Or if they share the tips with the agencies leadership?
