Office Max on Willamette Street has really gone down hill. This evening I needed one photocopy and asked the attendant at the copy counter of the copy center if I could get one copy made. I didn't want to use a credit card in the self serve machine for just one copy. In less than 15 seconds, she came back with the photocopy and proceeded to tell me that it would be $2.50. "What?," I replied. She showed me a sign by the cash register, blocked by another sign, stating that one copy costs $2.50. I asked her why she didn't tell me that at the time of the request. She shrugged her shoulders. I asked to speak to a manager and along came, DESTINY.... WOW! A 20-something, rude, manner-less girl, who rushed to the counter and emanated a putrid stench of body odor. She clearly received little to no training on how to treat customers with respect. My bank removed the $2.50 debit from my credit card. I will go into Office Max tomorrow for the very, last, time...to give them .35 cents for the one photo copy that I received. This Office Depot location won't be operating for much longer, guaranteed. You need customers to succeed. They are leaving one at a time and NOT coming back. read more

Staff not very helpful, were kinda rude and disrespectful. Will not go back to this location. There used to be some great people there who've walked me through some more complex print jobs. Current roster will argue and act like helping with the self-print station is the customer's fault when the default email option is not working. Two stars because the third employee did eventually help me out and send me on my way with my single page. Maybe it was a bad night. Who knows. But overall disappointing trip to the office store, lol. read more

I came in here with my husband this afternoon because we were exploring the area and I figured I would pick up some new pens since I was here. The employee who greeted us was the weirdest part to me. She comes out from behind the registers and almost blocked me from coming in, as she asked what we were looking for. Like I had to state my purpose for coming in before I was allowed in. I found that to be really weird and a bit creepy. It certainly didn't make me feel welcomed in the store. We found the pens I wanted, then went to check prices in printer ink. I didn't need any, but the last time I ordered on Amazon, it took forever to arrive. So I figured if it was a comparable price, I could buy it here instead. Nope, it is way more expensive. Like almost $10 more for the ink I need. Which seems insane. We decided to leave from here, and not explore anymore of the store because we didn't feel welcome. Would I return? Probably not, and it was simply because the employee who greeted us made us feel unwelcome. read more

As a small business owner, I have shopped here for the past few years. I bought an epson printer about a year ago. Well, yesterday I went in for a refill of ink. Instead of receiving a "Hi, how may I help you?" I was met with an aggressive, "Can you take your hood off in the store?" Mind you, it was raining outside. I don't feel like I have to take it off the second I walk in. I asked if it was required or being asked. She said it was something they ask. I declined and went on shopping. Funny a hood only covers the top of my head and the back of my head. Meaning my face is open for everyone to see. Yet, a face mask, that covers the actual face is not only allowed, but encouraged. See how jackass backwards we are nowdays? Then instead of helping me, she rushed to the back like she was going to watch me on the security cam instead of actually asking what I'm even in the store for. I was left in the ink section, trying to figure out what ink I need in the selection of hundreds of options. I was also trying to figure out why it said online a refill was $15, when in the store it was $25. Is this to keep the "poor" shoppers out? Then it hit me, why am I shopping somewhere that doesn't want me. I went to Fred Meyer, asked the employee where's the ink, got my ink with no hassle (for a cheaper price too.) and got on with my day. read more

This is a very large building clean and you will find all you need for office supplies. This is a great place to buy school supplies they have all kinds of choices and varieties to pick from. It's also a place to go for office materials like chairs, printers, keyboards, and all the other necessities you would need in the office etc. They coworkers here are so-so I might have come on an off day. My last visit here was both concerning and frustrating. I found the items I needed without any issue, but upon check-out, the cashier had a difficult time with the machine. For whatever reason, it wasn't reading my card. Upon changing to a different machine, it immediately read it, no problem. However the next day I noticed two pending charges in my bank account. This was concerning given it was already going to be a bit of a tight month for me financially. I immediately called Office Max to let them know what was occurring. The woman who picked up was frustratingly dismissive. When I was asked who to transfer the call to, I explained the situation and requested a manager so I could get the problem sorted out. The woman, sounding like she couldn't care less, told me that wasn't something they could resolve, and that I would need to reach out to my bank. I called my bank right away and was basically told that Office Max can actually resolve this issue, and could do so quicker than the bank could and with less steps involved. So my bank fortunately ended up correcting the error that Office Max created, and which Office Max refused to fix themselves. Nice. Won't be returning. read more

I'm not sure if the employees here are constantly stoned or what, but literally I've never met dumber more unhelpful employees. I went in a few days ago for a monitor, and they said in stock on about 3 I had my eye on online. I went in, the guy told me there was none in stock, went to my car to double check and went back in and he goes "oh we actually do have those!"..... then I did a curbside pickup a few days later for some moving supplies and the dude couldn't even put the boxes in my car... highly recommended you hire more professional and trained employees. read more

This review was for their online order and pick up in store service. The online ordering process was easy enough, the only complaint I have is that they cancelled part of my order instead of waiting for the item to come in and fill the order. But I guess that is the norm for online ordering. As for the store pick up, not really the best experience I've had when compared to other retailers. Online orders are placed on a rolling metal shelf near the cashier area. The employee at the cashier station told me to find my name and grab my order, which I did. Then she motioned for me to approach her cashier station, while she was on the phone with a customer. She then gestured with her hands letting me know I can just leave, without checking my name, order number, etc. or really speaking to me at all. The process did not take long, but I was not impressed with the customer service based on my interaction with the employee. Perhaps they were and are very short staffed, common occurrence nowadays unfortunately. I will revisit this location if I happen to be in the area and absolutely have to. But definitely won't be going out of my way anytime soon. read more

I went to buy a four pack of ink that I had bought three months before for $39.00, today it went up to $91.75 , I was in shock to say the least. Sad part I checked online after i bought $9.46-$13.46. Can we say office max is getting greedy. Check your prices elsewhere before shopping here. If they keep up at this rate, the United States will have an economy like Haiti's . The store is moderately stocked and the employees seem to prioritize helping the men in the store before the women. I waited and waited and waited for a clerk to help me pull a monitor, and I finally just took a pic of the label and went to the cashier, who then proceeded to help some guy buying a mouse for $9, and another guy with one small item, after sort of starting to help look up what I was after. It took 40 minutes (during regular working hours, and I did have a job to get back to) to get in and out with what I needed. It's always frustrating to come to this store. read more

The employees here are friendly enough, but this store is always understaffed so don't expect much in the way of service. The employees do their best, but, "hello management," hire more staff and please supervise what you have a little better. I had a computer In for repair. I called to see if it was ready. Dylan had a very interesting way of telling me nothing when he said, "Well I'm not the one responsible but I see that it is here." He continued being oddly evasive. I had to ask specifically if the person responsible was around and whether it was ready. When I went to pick it up, there was one person at the copy counter to do everything. Ben, the tech guy was called. When two or three minutes passed and he didn't appear I walked back to where he was stocking shelves. I asked if he heard the intercom call and he responded yes. I replied, "and you chose to ignore it." He smiled and said "yes." Friendly, yes, but little supervision, as above, and they are pretty much alone to do what they please. I took my computer home, figured out the problem myself. So who exactly it running this show? It's clear it's the employees. I'm glad I didn't have to go to the bathroom, per another reviewer. I'll go elsewhere or order from another vendor online. I did receive an email from employee Ben, which I appreciate. However, it was admitted that this store is understaffed. We're all very nice in this process, but short of more training and direction on what constitutes good customer service, its easy for me to not return. This has been ongoing fir two years I have lived here. It doesn't seem management is willing to address staffing shortages, and appropriate training. It's management, you have nice employees. Train them well and hire more staff is the solution. read more

I've only been there to use the print center. The manager at the print center is so friendly and helpful! There was an issue with my online order going through correctly, and she helped me out by fixing the error and reprinting my items promptly. She has excellent customer service. The print quality is spot on, and I love how you can order online. read more

Both my cashier and customer service lady were very helpful and sweet, and my complaints are in no way a reflection of them, but women's bathroom was pretty gross. There was an empty box of toilet seat covers in holder at mid day, which obviously hadn't been replaced today; toilet and entire toilet fixture area looked like hadn't been cleaned in quite a few weeks and there was dried pee on the floor under front of toilet that I almost stepped in when using the restroom; the toilet paper dispenser, metal railing in large stall, and mirror above sink badly needed to be cleaned; a decent part of tile floor had nasty brown spots of lord knows what, the door handle & door was disgusting, and the gross waste basket by the door and sink didn't have a liner inside it and there were some paper towels on the floor. I've worked in some for of customer service, since I started working as a teenager, including retail, and to be honest, this is one of the worst bathrooms I've used in years. To fair though, I did mention this to the manager, who said she would personally go clean the restroom herself, so I hope she takes this as a wake up call. Office Max staff, you really need to step up your housekeeping game, or you'll end up making someone really sick! read more

I bought a Brother's printer and some paper service was good but shame on me for not looking at the receipt they charged me $50.00 for using my debit card on a $111.99 bill. I have never been charged on any purchase for using a debit card!!! I well shop at Office Depot/Max again. Bill A. read more

I have been using Office Max since I moved here 15 years ago. I originally used the one on Division but since they closed I now go to the on Willamette. I have bought printers and my computer, my ink and many other things from them. The service is always excellent! They are always helpful in every way. I bought an HP printer there in February. It had a cliché in it and the paper jammed. It could not be fixed here. I always buy the extended warrantee. It is a great investment. I called and talked with Nathan and he referred me to their tech support person Ivan. Within a day I had a new replacement for my printer and I was back in business again! They went above and beyond. I couldn't lift the printer, so on his way to work, Ivan picked up my printer and the next day he returned the new one to me. He even set it up wireless. Amazing service. They did not charge me for this great service. I will always use OfficeMax!! Because of their excellent customer care, they got some yummy chocolates from me!! read more

I have not visited these guys for almost a year. Alex was very helpful. She explained how to get out the printer cartridge and detach it from the drum for the HL-L2360 Brother mono laser printer over the phone. She also said they give a 2 dollar reduction when you bring it back and recycle it. If I need office stuff, I do not go anywhere else to get it but here. read more

I use the print center at this store on a regular basis, sometimes with a large print job, and every time every employee has been more than helpful. I was stuck in west Eugene and went to a competitors store and had to pay to use the computers and added WAY more time than I was used to, where at office max the computers are free. Just made me appreciate the customer service so much more. Plus they always carry my favorite purple sharpies, right at the register :) love this place. read more

Wow! Usually, when I go to an office supply store, someone asks if she or he can help me when I walk in, but then later if I need assistance, I can't find it. The person who greeted me showed me where the sale items were and recommended other items I might be interested in, without seeming pushy at all. They had inadvertently left some sale price tags on items that were on sale last week, but I was given the sale price because that's what the sign said. I don't shop at this store anymore. The manager is very racist and has been very rude and threatening to me. There is a type of person in Oregon, many generations here, farming. They see anyone who does not have purely white skin as Mexican (only exposed to their farm slaves?). I am Irish and have some Oregon Native American ancestry (ancestors lived in Oregon over 40,000 years). I also have a little Polynesian ancestry. I don't have any Mexican ancestry, but even if I did, I don't think it is appropriate to insult someone based on racism. The manager aggressively follows me around the store, glaring at me in an overblown threatening, suspicious manner. I am not a thief, grew up in a good neighborhood, graduated from a top university with a computer science degree, and have been a software engineer for 30 years. I have worked as a software engineer for Jet Propulsion Labs as well as state and federal government. I now work as a consultant and purchase a lot of computers, peripherals and office equipment and furniture. Even though I have purchased expensive items from Officemax, she continues to treat me like a second class citizen. I purchased a back up SSD drive which she had to order and I paid for up front. I did not hear from her for a couple of months so went into the store. I found out that my $350 drive had been sitting on her desk for over a month, and she never once bothered to contact me as promised. Their policy was to call the customer when the item arrives. My phone number was on the outside of the shipping package, so there is no excuse for her not to have called me in two months. Was she going to keep the drive that I prepaid for? I was dismayed they put my phone number on the outside of the package; they always promise to keep your info secure, and that is not keeping it secure (I have a degree in Information Security). I tried to purchase several pieces of office furniture from this store, but the employees said Kyla was the only one who could answer questions. Kyla said she was too busy to help me. I went to Office Depot on Chad Dr., and Kyla called the store and told them I was a low-life and not to waste their time with me because I would not buy anything (after she tried to steal my hard drive). read more
