I had the pleasure of going to Office Max yesterday, while my supervisor and I were shopping for office furniture. The first person who helped us ended up helping us all the the way through our transaction, including putting our merchandise in my car for me! His name was Andrew, and he was very pleasant and very kind! Andrew was the only reason I gave any stars at all! He should definitely receive a pay raise for exceptional customer service. I can't speak highly enough about him. However... Amanda (I believe was her name) is literally the reason I will never step foot in Office Max again. While trying to use our tax-free ID number, she very condescendingly informed us it "wouldn't happen right away," while being very curt. Her explanation was NOT helpful, as she was obviously trying to not have to deal with us. After we straightened that out, we came back in to continue our purchase. Because they didn't have two of our items in stock, we received 10% off per their guarantee (thank you again Andrew!), but unfortunately we needed her help to apply that discount. I don't think she realized I was watching her when he radioed her for help, because upon hearing her name, she let out clearly audible, and even visibly frustrated sigh. I'm so sorry Amanda that our over $400 purchase was such a burden to you. She then spoke to Andrew like he was stupid, which really left a bad taste in my mouth. I was surprised to learn she is an assistant manager! I have never experienced such poor customer service from a large chain store. Doesn't that tell you something? I will be shopping elsewhere from now on. read more
