As an educator in town, I frequent stores for school supplies. This Office Max along with a nearby Staples that has since closed are the two stores I frequented the most over the years. Now, if I am heading to a store for supplies, this is the one I'd go to (as I did yesterday). The staff are always helpful, the supplies are always in stock, and they often have special deals or clearance offers. Sometimes the prices are more expensive for store items compared to other places though. The store offers professional printing including advice on design, materials, and techniques to ensure vibrant, high-quality prints with sharp details. There is also self-service printing which offers a quick option for making copies, sending faxes, and scanning documents. I have used the self-service kiosks on multiple occasions over the years. There are also packing services and FedEx and USPS shipping services offered. Other services include shredding services, tech services, ink and toner recycling (for a credit!), and applying for TSA PreCheck. Just disappointing. 2nd trip to the store, so much time wasted and staffed with uniformed and passive aggressive, disenfranchised workers. This is an example of an environment where people are unhappy in their workplace and feeling powerless over it. Come on Office Max.... This is Paradise Valley and location needs some support to help your employees be more joyful, accurate, helpful and communicative. It's sad and dreary in there and the employees need an adjustment to their attitudes. One of three who came in happy looking for solutions while I was here and though I got way more than I came in for, not by choice but by weird sales tactic and spent about $60 more than I would have if I ordered from Amazon.... all I can say is this place is a sad and low level experience when it doesn't have to be. Get your employees some good customer service coaching and do more to make their workplace happier. It's a wonder this place is still in business. There are never any cars in the parking lot and maybe one or two customers in the store. Today I found out why. I went in to have a simple booklet with whatever cheap paper and cheap plastic binder they could put together for two copies of 10 pages each. It wasn't even 8 x 11 it's more like 5 x 5 and they wanted to charge me $70. Are you kidding me?! Who do they think they are? Do not go to this rip off of a place. Everything they have here you can get at Walmart at a severe discount. What a joke. As a matter of fact, I just checked my account and when I had the original booklet made at the OfficeMax on 90th St., which was made from scratch the guy charged me $11. Print center has unreliable quality. Ordered business card size prints and over half were way off center. I mentioned to the print specialist and she said it's just how the machine cuts them. If you need any office supplies, furniture, printers, computers, or one of them fancy electronic book readers, then you should check this place out. Not being a teacher or office manager/employee, I only come to these stores for printer ink. I was greeted with a friendly "Hello, can I help you find something" by one of the employees. My friend was looking for a stapler which the employee quickly guided us down the aisle to find an extensive collection, although I didn't see a red Swingline stapler ;) There is a huge print service station in the back and plenty of employees to help out with anything. Check out was super quick as there were three cashiers open and ready for a customer. Oh and I found out, thanks to my teacher friend, that you get a discount if you are a teacher. I think I am really going to be utilizing this location quite a bit over the next year for ink for my new Brother printer I purchased on Black Friday. Living Social had a great deal for Office Max today for example for 10 bucks you get 20 bucks toward Ink and Toner. The staff is very friendly.....and there were several on staff today due to the Black Friday rush. However with that being said I think they are always courteous and nice despite Black Friday and I will keep you updated if that changes because like I said I will probably be seeing them a lot in the future. They have Ink and Toner for just about any printer......all-in-one.....whether it be laser....inkjet....and I believe they do refills but I will have to double check on that. The prices are very good....however I probably will give Amazon.com a shot first because they have some very good deals on my ink as well. If I don't want to wait however for it to be shipped to me....it is nice to know I can walk to office max and get some in a pinch.....and for a decent price.
