I visited the Office Depot on Rosemead Boulevard in Temple City to have a set of business cards printed. After showing the employee at the print counter my design, she told me the job could not be completed because of the borders on the card. I explained that I had previously had the exact same design printed at another Office Depot location without any issues, but she was unwilling to explore any alternatives or provide further assistance. Feeling that the matter was not going to be resolved, I decided to leave and take my business elsewhere. I then went to the Office Depot in Montebello, where the staff reviewed the same design and completed the order without hesitation or any issues. Horrible customer service. I went to this Office Depot to drop off a FedEx package that already had a prepaid shipping label attached and was completely sealed and secure. I have shipped not just one, but many packages prepared exactly the same way through other Office Depot locations in different cities and have never had any issues. Unfortunately, the employee assisting me was extremely rude. Instead of trying to help, she raised her voice and spoke to me in a disrespectful manner. Customer service seems to be a foreign concept at this location. I understand that policies may vary, but there is no excuse for treating customers poorly. A little professionalism and courtesy would have gone a long way. With experiences like this, it's no surprise that more people are choosing online retailers and delivery services instead. Training is needed to improve customer service. I went to this business because I happened to be in the area. I requested help from an employee to Fax 5 pages.The employee, who wasn't assisting any other customers, pointed to the Fax machine and told me to follow the directions. Then she proceeded to use her cell phone. I proceeded to follow instructions on the machine. After a few minutes, she came over to help and I asked her if there's anything else I needed to do to confirm that my pages were sent. She said no. I received a print out of my charges. The next day I called the business to confirm receipt of fax. They said they never received the documents. I went to a UPS store near my house and the attendant fax'd my documents for me and gave me a receipt confirming that the fax went through. read more

This is my second time getting a service done here, once again, I'm blow away by the service I received. Ashley helped me this time around. She finished up an order I had began the day before. She knew exactly what to do and went above and beyond. I was seen, heard and taken care of. I ordered 17 spiral bound notebooks, 154 pages each, she had them ALL done in a timely manner. I rushed in traffic to get over and there when i got there a customer walking out and the manager locked the door on me and pretended like I wasn't there. Horrible service, and really rude staff. I pre-ordered a printing service one day advance just to print a 2page copy. I came here the second day, and the staff says it's not ready and I have to come until I receive the email saying that it is ready. I mean lady it is just two page copy, can't you just print it out, it literally only takes two seconds. I've never been to an Office Depot's printing service and received this kind of greet.... I CAN'T STAND this location! Trust me, I don't like writing negative reviews but this one is absolutely necessary. This location is about 5 min from my house and I always go in with an optimistic mind thinking this experience will be better than the last, but today I had enough. I am currently in staples in Monterey Park getting help since Office Depot was being so ridiculous. I am a elementary school teacher and I came here to buy ink and other things for my class 2 months ago. They have a discount for teachers for ink and they didn't even honor it! As soon as I left I called called the location in Whittier and they told me that they would do so if I drove over there. The woman with the short black hair was so rude to me. Find a new job if you dislike customers so much. Then there is today, I went to have a fake Starbucks label printed for my Halloween costume. The girl charged me for card stock paper and then proceeded to tell me that they can't print it because it's a logo! After I paid for the card stock...I couldn't believe it. It's for a Halloween costume! I'm not opening a Starbucks in my kitchen. I'm all about customer service, because I have had years of experience back when I was younger. I had a HORRIBLE customer service experience! And that says a lot because I am not a demanding person at all. I'm very aware that employees can get busy and its hard to tend to all customers at once. But there was only ONE other person in the store and 6 people "working". I was looking for a specific type of paper, asked someone if they had it, his careless response was "I don't know" and pointed to someone else. I walked to that guy and he said "I'll check for you in a minute"... I said "sure" and stepped aside while he was finishing up something. 10 minutes passed, literally... In this time I watched him go to his coworker and I stood there as he chit chatted and laughed. I know he didn't forget because he saw me standing on the other side of the store. After 10 minutes, I went up to another girl and she was finally able to show me where the paper was once she finished ringing up that other customer. They rang me up and I repeated a couple of times that I would like the paper cut in half. They never mentioned anything about charges. However, I had done the same thing at the Glendale store so I was aware that they were supposed to charge me "$0.75 per 250 sheets" according to their pricing chart. One of the girls started cutting my papers and then another came up to me and said "ohhh, by the way, did they tell you about the charge?" I said, "No, but I'm aware of the $0.75 charge because I just did the same thing in Glendale". She said "Uhhhh, no actually we're gona charge you like $10.50 for it." I asked her how she came up with that amount and she responded and she said "We charge $1.50 per cut and we're gona be cutting yours like 7 times or something." (the reason for this is because apparently their machine is messed up and they can't do it all at once). I asked to speak to a manager and this lady came and we explained the situation to her. I told her that first of all I was never notified about these charges before they did it. The employee started defending herself and her explanation was, "Yea but I had explained all the charges to another customer." I stared at her shock. How does her explanation to another customer affect me??? The manager started defending her employee stating that she was doing the right thing and told me to go back to Glendale if that's what I wanted. HUH?! I was in shock. So I just left. I went to the City of Industry store like 10 minutes away, service was AMAZING and they charged me the same price as Glendale without me even having to say ANYTHING. First and foremost I want people to know that the only reason this place get 2 stars is because of Marky mark. If it wasn't for him this place would get 1 star. I've been coming to this office depot for the past 20 years, my dad use to send me here when he had his old real estate office and needed printing. This way about 18 years before they downsized, which was confusing for a while but now looking back it all makes sense. Office depot, and this location in particular, is on the decline very fast. They don't hold on to good employees, they don't stock the most important products that are bought most frequently, and most of all they don't know how to PRINT for S**t. Well besides Mark. The only other employee that knew her A** from her elbow was Alex and they let her get away. No surprise there, she probably got sick of working with a bunch of incompetent people. Mark knows whats up and how to treat regular customers but everyone else is really really stupid. Not only do they not know how to do their jobs but they don't care about doing it properly. Their two claims to fame are printing and ink. They guarantee that they will have the your ink in stock at the lowest price but boy is that a huge joke. They have never carried my Toner after asking them to for the last 16 months, and the printing? I don't even want to get started on it. They just can't get basic stuff down. I don't know how they advertise that they can do customer printing jobs and what not, every time I go there they are messing up print jobs left and right. Their printers, computers are always broken or getting "serviced", I really can't even continue because this review will never end. Unless you are printing a very very SIMPLE word or PDF document do NOT go here. The only time I will ever go here again is if Mark is working, and if they happen to let him go then I will never come back. Very small office depot store. I needed an office chair. The Temple City store would not sell me one. I showed Chris, the manager, the model I wanted. It was not in stock but he did sell me the floor model and gave me a small discount. I told him I was a teacher. He enrolled me in their teachers' club, gave me a free lesson plan book, and another small discount came up on the computer. I love Office Depot because straight, and to the point... I'm a pen whore. I love pens! Office supplies, as a whole, really, but specifically pens. I love that Office Depot has that huge section of those writing utensils that I can't get enough of. I was dismayed when they moved to the smaller space, but really, they don't need it since they are no longer selling furniture. Most of the things that I need, I can still find. The only thing with downgrading in size is that everything feels much more cramped. I used to get lost in Office Depot for an hour just walking the rows and trying to rationalize why I needed something. It was a more leisurely experience. Needed to make a poster from a electronic print. Sent my on line order in at 3:00 p.m. Per the website, it was actually past the time for same day pick up, which was okay with me. Surprisingly I received an email about 1 hour later along with a call saying that they were working on my order and it would be ready later in the evening. They also asked me if I wanted the yard stake attached to the poster which I happily agreed to. I picked up the poster at about 6:30 p.m. that evening. Despite the downsizing, my office supplies needs were met as soon as I stepped through the front door. I used to go to this Office Depot all the time when I was in grade school and high school for the annual back to school shopping extravaganza. It recently moved locations to a smaller store, but within the same plaza. This last trip, I went specifically for a particular blue pen. The clip portion of the pen had snapped off, so only a snippet of the pen name was visible. All I knew was that it was a Pilot pen. I relayed all this information to the sales associate, who greeted me as soon as I walked in, and she pinpointed me exactly to the pens that I needed. I had a good experience with this store. I don't know much about computers so I took advantage of the free computer tune-up give to me during my last purchase. I lost my Internet access from my desktop at home so I haul it in for a diagnosis. Ivan was the tech guy who helped me. He examined and fixed my WiFi and patiently checked my computer for virus. Along the way, he explained everything that showed up on the screening report and taught me how to connect to my Internet when I get home. Cool guy with a sense of humor! He did not make me feel stupid not know what had happened to my computer. This is my second time seeking for IT help from this store. The first visit was for my six-year old laptop. I had a virus attack; they cleaned it up and told me that it is still good to go for a few more years. It costed me a reasonable amount of money to fix the problem and I was asked to take it back to tune up without charge whenever I feel like it. Too cool! And, if you have a problem, does that business actually listen to your concerns and tries very hard to find an amicable resolution? My local Office Depot exceeded my expectations on a number of occasions. A while ago, my daughter had a high school project that required her to submit a presentation in a "bounded" notebook. Trying to do-it-yourself requires too much effort, so you turn to the professionals. Some of her classmates tried Staples, but that was a big mistake. Since that store made them drop-off their project and then, return for it a few hours later. That's inconvenient and doesn't help if the matter is time-sensitive. Other friends said to go to Office Depot, because they'll do it right away and the cost was about the same. So, I drove my daughter there and we were pleasantly surprised that their recommendation was true. In and out quickly and also in one trip. You can't ask for anything more. When you're bargain hunting, Office Depot has some great deals. Their loyalty / rewards program is awesome. I've bought AA /AAA Duracell batteries for $13.99 [16 count package] and then, got Back-in-Rewards $13.98, so my net cost was just ONE CENT! [Costco can't beat this.] I typically use my Rewards Certificate to purchase printer ink, but you can use it for something else. [Some businesses hope you forget about your coupons and let them expire. But, Office Depot sends me reminders to use it, before you lose it. I appreciate that.] A recent promo said if you spend over $75 on HP ink, that you would get a free ream of HP paper, if you presented an In-Store coupon [that I printed from their emails to me]. I spent over a $100 on HP ink [paid completely with my many Rewards Certificates that I earned]. Unfortunately, this deal was apparently quite popular and this location had run out-of-stock. Without me even having to complain or demand an accommodation, their Store Associate [Veronica] instructed another employee to get a comparable product. [It was actually better, because this brand had a "color lock" feature that allegedly prevents your printed material from smearing when you use a highlighter.] Now, that's what I call excellent customer service. She turned a negative into a positive store experience. I encourage you to complete surveys after a store purchase, to give feedback that helps them improve their operations. If you ever have a concern and wish to share that with Office Depot, they actually listen and care about your opinions. Contact their Member Services dept. online or by phone and they'll try to make it right. As a friend of mine, who was a banker, used to say, "When money talks, bullshit walks!" Office Depot's agents will issue Rewards Certificates, if appropriate, to remedy the situation. I used to drive past Office Depot and go to a Staples that was several miles further, because I thought they were better. I was wrong. Now, if I had to choose between those two for office supplies and/or related services they offer, Office Depot is my 1st choice. read more
