Sorry to report the River Oaks Printing department for OfficeMax has now reached an all new low. Spent over $350 on one job that took 3 months and was incorrect. Had to show up to even get follow up on this project. Not once did they contact the customer. I did not want to visit this store in the first place but I had to. For what was a simple office item purchase the Kirby location, my usual, was out of stock but they verified stock was in here and they sent me on my merry way. Slightly pissed off I was having to truck all over town for an office purchase of all things (where are my amazon drones that will just shoot packages through my chimney? Is this or is this not 2019?) I was already not in a good mood about going out of my way. When I roll up I see DARE program ladies posted up at a table in front of the entrance haranguing customers going in and coming out for money. I wanted to not go here, but I needs muh purchase and my boy at Kirby only verified stock here, and I don't know where another location is since I had driven by this one for the Dominos in the past. The DARE program ladies harassed me on the way in. Being the bigger man I did not let them know what an abject failure the DARE program is in research, in fact, ethically/morally, in being faithful to science, and lastly that it was a hegemonic tool of oppression that facilitated the underperforming schools to prison pipeline that decimated opportunities and earning potential in, unsurprisingly, poc communities that could least afford the true "cost" of the program in the first place. I picked up muh purchase inside and left, with the ladies harassing me on the way out to give them money or something. I look down on the OfficeMax brand and the store management/leadership of this River Oaks location for allowing this in front of their store with their customers. SHAME (bell) SHAME (bell) SHAME (bell) I would have preferred Lil Marco from the soundcloud trying to sell dime bags in front of the store to put his sister/wife through cosmetology school, or the toothless hooker from the Udipi Cafe parking lot trying to sell me a ZJ in front of this store to make her rent on the first of the month. I went in to buy a desk, to be told that there were none in stock in there store so I asked to see if there were any in another nearby store and was told there was none anywhere but I could get one in a different color. So I bought that one to be delivered to the house 2 days later. LONG STORY SHORT... 5 days later and numerous phone calls no desk. So I went online to see if I could find one that I could just pick up and what's this? The original desk I wanted IN STOCK I called the location to make sure that the website was correct and it was. The West Gray store manager lied to me and just didn't want to do her job. So I went to the store to pick up the desk and have them cancel the order. Which the Kirby location did right in front of my face; 10 days later and no refund from the original order. Called again no real results so I had to call my credit card company to dispute the charges. DO NOT ORDER FURNITURE FROM OFFICE DEPOT TO HAVE DELIVERED! There must be new staff at his location. The 2 gentleman who have helped me at the printer counter the past few weeks have been approachable, knowledgeable and friendly. I did have to initiate and pull out their cheerful engaging side. When checking out at a normal register the staff and management have acted as if myself and other customers were a nuisance. That's a shame. This location could use a boost from fresh management to lead by example with engaging communication and positive vibes. My preference is to drive to the Kirby location. This is one of the larger OfficeMax that I've been too, however, they ran out of the paper I needed to buy. Which was a good thing, because, a few days later, I saved A LOT more money at the Weslayan location. I came here to get about 3K Yelp Eats menus printed. The young gentleman quoted me for $1.19 a sheet for a black and white print on special paper. Um, no thanks. So I asked if I could buy the paper ($12.99 for 250 sheets) then get the menus printed for their cost of 10 cents a print. That somehow saved me half the cost. It was 11 packs of Bristol White 65lb paper at 11.19 a pack for $123 plus tax. Add that to the print job ... somewhere around $400 plus tax ... The upside is that the kind young man and his coworker were happy to start the job immediatly, and I was able to pick up packs as they were ready and drop them off to the restaurants. Downside? I went to the Weslayan location a few days later and the printing manager questioned why I was buying the packs of paper to print on (which were slightly cheaper, $10.99) plus the print job (10 cents each) when he could print all of my copies at .14 cents each--no need to buy paper. Confused? Yeah. So was I. He said they misquoted me. The price I was given ($1.19) was for colored prints on both sides. West Gray Option A: misquoted for $1.19 a print X No. of prints Option B: (.10 X No. of prints) + ($11.19 X No. of packs of paper) Weslayan Option C: .14 cents a print X No. of prints Not only was there that confusion, but there was no one working the floor. But there was, however, one young lady standing behind the register doing NOTHING, directing others to the customer care register after stating she was closed. Maybe she was; maybe she was on break ... But why stand at the register and play with your nails? Since no one was on the floor, I had lots of questions and product-locating to do, so when I needed paper that was no longer on display, I asked customer service to do a search in their computer inventory. It showed that they had more in stock, so another employee went to go check on it and came back to tell me there were no more in the aisle. "Um, I know. I took all that you had left. I wanted to see if you had more in the back." I could have asked her to "go check in the back," but we know how that would have gone ... we've all been working teenagers. Save yourself time, confusion and money, and go to the Weslayan location. read more

Today was my second visit to this store. I needed one item, printer paper, which they keep on the back wall forcing you to walk down the main aisle loaded with impulse buy crap! There competitor keeps a high turn item like printer paper near the front for customer ease. No such concerns at this business. I get my paper, pass up all the impulse purchase junk and get to the register. The person in front of me had some kind of business reward program that didn't work. After 7 minutes and 3 different tries the person behind the only open register said "well, there is one more way we can try". At that point I set down my paper and walked out the door which got not reaction as, well, they really don't care. Coincidently, that is exactly what happened the first time I went there. A person in front of me had a rewards program that didn't work. Not much progress in 6 months. That time I stayed and my paper rang up with the wrong price. I told them so and they quickly told me I was mistaken. I walked all the way to the back of the store again and took a picture of the price tag with the same item number and showed the cashier at which point they changed the price. After leaving today I went to their main competitor, found my paper near the front, and $3.00 cheaper. I carried it to one of their 3 open registers and checked out. Ordered a large print job on a Thursday afternoon, guy said it will take awhile but he will call me when it's ready. It's Friday now and still no call. I rang them and they said they are just starting it now and will call when ready. It is now Sunday and still no call. I rang them AGAIN, and there is NO record of my print job at all. It fluctuates based on the day and who is helping you but it is supposed to be $2.99 for binding but if it is an inexperienced person for some reason it is $4.29. Not a big deal except I was doing 50 and so it added up. No worth trying to explain it to the guy because he just you a confused look. And on top of all of this I put in my order and left was told to come back in 30 minutes which I did. It wasn't ready. Every single time I come here they are out of most of their sizes of cardboard boxes. It is so frustrating. You would think that being right by the post office, they could get it together. It would be so convenient to be able to come here and purchase the boxes I need and then go ship my items. I have found the prices on some big items less expensive at their competitors but over all they have decent prices. I have found that they run in store clearance specials often and you can really geat a get deal on an item if it happens to be what you are looking for at that time. The staff there is hit or miss...they are usually helpful enough but they tend to move at a snails pace it seems. read more

Went to print 2 sheets. Yes 2 sheets of paper. There wasn't a soul at the copy center and yet the lady told me that there was a 24hr wait on all copies and prints. I was shocked by what she told me. I asked her that there wasn't anyone and that I only needed 2 sheets printed. The answer was NO sorry. She told me she could place the order for me and that I needed to pay for the prints and come back the next day. I have always used this Store and have brought them all my business and it is incredible how inflexible this enployee was. Printing my 2 sheets would have for sure taken less than the time it would have taken for the employee to place the order. God forbid they would let me cut in line before all the people whi sent their prints during the weekend but were not there then. I was there. I took the time and made the drive to the store and I didn't get the service I needed. So this copy center shoukd be listed as not reliable. read more

If you can get your printing done anywhere else - then don't come here! The print center at this place is absolutely hopeless. This opinion has been formed by at least 5 experiences of diabolical customer service over the last 3 to 4 months. It all sounds so trivial but when you have a 3 month old screaming baby with you, then tensions escalate: 1. My online printing is NEVER done when I pop in 24-48 hours later to pick it up. Apparently they don't get the notice in their email inbox - they have to manually check the online site. Well, perhaps they should do that at least once per day. When I phone ahead to ensure the printing is done, on arrival it is still often NOT DONE. 2. I once waited 45 minutes before actually getting served (with just 2 people ahead of me), only to find out my online printing was STILL NOT DONE. My baby was screaming. When I offered to breastfeed at the counter, I was met with stony silence. 3. Picking up online printing seems to be quite a complex task for which only the Printing Supervisor is qualified to handle. Which means that if she is tied up with other customers, then I just have to stand there and wait patiently (with my baby in tow), for her to be free, even if the other staff are twiddling their thumbs. Which can take up to 30 minutes due to sheer laziness, incompetence, and absolutely no sense of urgency. 4. I tried offering some constructive feedback to the OfficeMax Manager. He was busy at the register and didn't look or speak to me for some time after I spoke. It was an awkward silence. When I lightly said, "Customer Service is not going to improve if you neither listen nor acknowledge me," I saw an eyelid flicker. Thanks for nothing. 6. Lastly, a couple of workers have said they have 'new staff' in the print center which is causing all of the issues and generating lots of complaints. These new staff members are simply scapegoats. In fact, I've had very good experiences with all the new kids there. A change of management is all that is required to actually give this OfficeMax Print Center just a little bit of professionalism and a basic sense of customer service.
