Do not use this company!!! I had a terrible experience with the workroom at this company. They are unprofessional, their workmanship is poor, and they do not stand behind their work. I went to a local home fabric store, Coming Home Fabrics in Valencia, to get a price on recovering my expensive, custom couch because the down feathers were coming through the fabric and one of the cushions was creased. The owner uses Off the Bolt's workroom and he quoted me a very reasonable price. When I received the recovered couch it was still leaking feathers and the crease was still there. When I took the cover off the cushion, I saw that the inserts had not been recovered - they had been haphazardly patched with the lightweight felt fabric that is used on the bottom of sofas and there were feathers flying all over. I was told it would cost me another $600 to replace the inserts, but that this was the only way to fix the 2 problems. I sent the couch back. When it arrived, the skirt was too long (no one from the workroom ever came to measure) and the fabric was not laying nicely against the back of the sofa (my sofa floats in my family room). I had to send it back again, after having an argument with the manager of the workroom. The skirt still doesn't look right and I still have a crease in the cushion. The company will do nothing for me and they blame me for all of the problems!! read more

I'm happy to say that the Manager, Sarah, was as good as her word and followed up with a nice apology and a check for the remainder of the money I paid them for the fabric I couldn't use. Wish this had happened a lot sooner, but better late than never. read more

A mere shadow of the former store in Oxnard. Very limited fabric selection and I was told by the cranky employee that the selection will be getting even smaller. Too bad, the Oxnard store was terrific. read more

This huge warehouse size store is a terrific resource for the occasional upholstery tasks I need to undertake. Since I'm planning on making more furniture, I will take advantage of Bolt more and more in the near future. I am unaware of any store in the Valley that offers a selection of the size and quality I'm able to find at Off the Bolt. The also have foam and pillows, and a good remnant section with deep discounts. Prices from 10-45 a linear yard. read more

I will never go to this place again! Their customer service is terrible and they are way too expensive. I needed a simple panel done and it was promised to me for a certain date. It wasn't ready and they were rude about it. They did not call when they promised they would and then when I finally got it she said I was "lucky" to get it when I did. I love Off The Bolt. They are my go-to group from design conception to project completion. I have 2 chairs that were slip-covered by them. The work is excellent. They did an ottoman which turned out beautifully. For my daughters dorm room, I gave them the fabric and the dimensions and voila a cushion headboard, a matching bedskirt and 2 matching dorm chair slip covers with the colors just the way I had envisioned (the insets for the pleats were the same color as the pipping which contrasted the body of the chair --so beautiful--Sarah offered that suggestion to me..so glad she thought of it.) I feel their pricing is reasonable because I have compared it to other fabric companies I know of that reupholster. My next project is going to be a headboard with rushing and nail head trim. They have many many different types and sizes of nail heads to choose from. Because of Off The Bolt I can re-purpose chairs I find at the Goodwill after painting or sanding them down, as well as old pieces I get from family. Thank you Off The Bolt. I, like many others have been going to OTB since it was next to the doughnut shop. Its now in a location that's hard to enter and exit except from certain directions. (corner of Desoto and Victory) The staff is good when you can find someone and the selection of materials is good as well but the prices have gone sky high. I was looking for some foam to do a project and was shocked at the cost. I was also looking to have their "new" upholstery dept. repair some feather/down stuffed sofa cushions and was told pretty much that they wouldn't even attempt to save the old feathers. I would have to buy new feathers because it was just too messy to work with the old feathers. Huh ? Are you kidding me. As well, it would cost me one hundred dollars a cushion and I have three needing repair. On top of that, they don't even do the work there, its sent out to a jobber and I'm sure OTB tacks on cost for their profit. Now I'll only go there when I have to. read more

I contacted Sarah at Off the Bolt/DiGiacomo Upholstery via their website to inquire about re-upholstering my Queen size Sleeper Sofa and Storage Ottoman. I had already purchased my own Waverly Norfolk Rose upholstery fabric and unlike other shops they do not charge a surcharge if you use your own fabric, a savings right there. As requested, I provided photos and measurements of both items via email to Sarah who was very nice and helpful, she provided an estimate and timeline. I checked with several other upholsterers but no one could beat their price or timeline. I called a few days later to provide my credit card for the deposit and schedule the pickup and spoke with Zoe, very nice and very helpful. Driver Mike and his helper were also very nice, arrived right on time the day scheduled, took great care with my furniture, French doors, and pup to make sure everything was done very professionally. Imagine my delight when they called in less than two weeks to arrange for delivery of my completed items. Off the Bolt/DiGiacomo Upholstery did an absolutely beautiful job and my sofa and ottoman look even better than new. I loved dealing with all of these folks, so nice and great at communicating every step of the way, so much so that I spoke with Renee and will have them reupholster my recliner after the holidays. I have used Off the Bolt on several occasions and was always pleased with the customer service and the selection of fabrics. I was a bit disappointed at the new location because the majority of fabrics are now in books. I liked roaming the old location and I generally found what I was looking for without spending hours thumbing through the books. My visit several months ago was to find fabric for seven couch pillows. I found two fabrics and trim. Since I have no clue how much fabric to order, I relied on the expertise of the customer service people to do that for me. I told them the sizes of the pillows...two 16x16, four 14x14, and one 8x12. The fabric and trim was ordered and arrived several weeks later. I brought it home, sewed my pillows and was shocked to see that I had about four yards of extra fabric that was $45.95 a yard and two extra yards of fabric that was $30.50 a yard. So I purchased approximately $244 of unnecessary fabric. Not happy. The $30.50 fabric I can probably use to cover my dining room chairs but the more expensive patterned fabric? I have no idea what I will use it for. I have no clue why they ordered so much fabric for only seven small pillows. Seems to me it's their business to know how much fabric to order. Not sure I will return to Off the Bolt, but if I do, I will certainly make extra sure they are ordering the proper amount of fabric. read more
