Amanda was so amazing working with Penjo in their 2week On Board program. Penjo is very stubborn and had to be in control of everything and where he went. I couldn't walk him without him yanking me and barking at dogs from the car and in public wherever we went. He also would jump on our guests, nicking them in the face. Penjo had a 110% turnaround and can now take him places with us and comfortable around others. These guys are amazing. I have an older dog that I trained myself, no problem. My puppy was still challenging at 1.5 years. He had more problems with distractions (cars, other dogs etc) than any other dog I've had and had essentially failed multiple other (expensive) trainers. We have a rescue who was found on the side of a busy road when she was 4 months old. She was all scratched and dinged up and her tail had been slammed in a door and was infected. She is extremely afraid of other dogs and has a high prey instinct when it comes to cats. I needed to deal with someone who was not afraid to handle her or be around her. Before Off Leash, my dog loved to jump on people and didn't know how to handle her excitement. She also chewed and grabbed things off tables when I was gone. My healthy clean 7-month old Golden Doodle was met by the trainer and taken by him for training in Winchester, VA. He sent videos ever2-3 days showing a new behavior Winston had "learned". The dog appeared happy, but confused. When I retrieved Winston from the trainer 2 weeks later, it was a gray, drizzly day, so naturally Winston's coat was not fluffy as it was when he left on a sunny day. Although I had been told to allow 2 1/2 hours for my own training when I picked Winston up, in less than an hour, we were on our way home. Although Luis instructed Winston to "load up" into my car, Luis had to pick him up and put him in. I opened the trunk for Luis to put in the left over food, toys, etc. and he also put in a very dirty black plastic box, contents of which he didn't mention. He handed me a dirty well-used controller for the e-collar. When I closed the car door and started home, I smelled an awful order and realized it was from Winston. Once in the house, I could see that Winston's coat was dirty and matted. When I opened that dirty box that had been in the trunk, I discovered it was what the e-collar, etc. were to be stored in. There was an instruction book, a charger, and some things I can't identify. Other items described in the instruction book were missing. I called groomers and found one who took Winston for a bath 2 days after I called. She said she had to cut off bunches of hair that were matted with dirt. I asked her to especially clean his ears because there was a lot of black "goo" in them. Turns out the "goo" was from an ear infection, so I had to take him to the vet for diagnosis and treatment of a fungal ear infection. So in addition to $2800 for training, I had to pay $85 for a groomer and $220 for vet and medications. After more than a week of requests to speak to the Off-Leash franchise owner, Tank Mosely called me. He said he was travelling to train police dogs and would come to see me on October 7. Today is October 14 and I haven't heard from him again. I understand I have a lifetime guarantee for the training, but I definitely don't want Winston to stay with Luis again, but I can't even talk to the person who should help resolve my problems. Justin is an incredible trainer. Very professional and committed to help out to achieve the goal you have for your dog. My dog has some fear aggression towards other dogs and I got one of their packages to help me train my dog control that. A lot has to do with the owner's confidence as well, and mine was not there at all. I was always afraid my dog would get into a fight or injure another animal. I was working with another trainer under Justin, but I was not able to finish all the lessons since I was pregnant and had to put all the training on hold. Unfortunately that lead to my dog and I losing some confidence to go outside and take a walk. I initially really liked it, my dog was behaving and doing really well and i was happy with the results, she was pretty reliable off leash and doing commands well. I then started to get more into the behavioral aspect of dogs and realized that my dog was not happy. She was nervous, not enjoying things like before the training, she would stick right around me and initially i thought like oh she doesn't wanna run off but then i realized it was because she was too afraid to run off, she was never a fan of the collar and so i made the decision to get rid of it. I've been working her without the collar, just on a long lead and she has improved greatly on her nervousness about running around but even after spending a large sum of money on confidence training and trying to reverse the way she thought about corrections and recondition her positively to the ecollar with treats and praise and she is still very shut down by the collar being in sight and afraid of any correction. I honestly think the dog needs a lot more conditioning time to the collar than she was given with the trainer, i also think that the collar should have never been used in the way that it was with the trainer. my dog would freeze up and not move because she was afraid and the trainer would continue to up the number until she finally would comply and i believe that caused some severe damage mentally to her. she is yes very well behaved now and listens to every command within seconds, but she also isn't doing it in her old way where she was excited, now her ears are pinned back, she's panting when it's not hot, she's tense and very very on edge and sensitive to any noise you make, she instantly just returns to avoid being corrected and cowers unlike how she used to. I don't think that the company overall is evil or trying to do harm, i just think that going into this you should be educated enough on your own about ecollars that you can spot the red flags that i missed and avoid traumatizing your dog. An E-collar is a great tool, however it must be used properly to achieve that result you want without hurting your dogs mental well being. read more

Off Leash K9 Training...Hmmm, good and bad. First, the good. Megan, my trainer in San Antonio was fantastic. I dropped my 2 1/2 yo Boxer Gretchen off for their 2 week Board and Train. When I picked her up 2 weeks later, I was amazed; such a change! She is now able to sit, stay, and down. I'm still working on training her myself (extended sit, stay, heel). At first, I got frustrated easily and Gretchen didn't understand and got confused as well, ending up with her just sitting down, regardless of the command. After discussing this with Megan and getting some pointers, Gretchen has gotten better steadily. I don't yet feel comfortable with her off leash completely but hopefully that will come soon. She is NOW even loading and touching well. I do not have a home situation when I can train her to place. Now, the bad. I originally found OLK9 online and contacted the owner in VA. During our conversations, I was referred to the Houston location and eventually the San Antonio location. I ended up taking her to SA. After dropping Gretchen off with Megan, I received a call from the Houston location asking why I hadn't dropped my dog off yet. Evidently, you guys don't communicate with each other. My end of training video was most likely similar to others I've seen; I was extremely happy with Gretchen's training. Actually I had a few questions (I'm sure most folks are the same way). My suggestion is a follow-up visit so the particular trainer can see how the pet is progressing. In my case, how Gretchen is placing, loading, and heeling. Just saying......
