I ended up calling myself and literally had to "prod" for answers about how everything went. Only got "they did well" and no details of anything. The icing on the cake was when our dogs came home, the one who was w other dogs got EXTREMELY sick and the other who was in private play caught the bug 24 hours later from the first. We know anxiety poops after change of scenery/boarding/etc. this was NOT that and our vet needed to prescribe antibiotics because it continued to last into a week and wasn't getting any better. I only discovered the injury after we got home. I understand that accidents can happen, but what I can't accept is the lack of communication and transparency. Over the next several days, Kahlo repeatedly shook her head because of the discomfort, causing the wound to reopen and bleed multiple times. I ultimately had to take her to the veterinarian, where she was diagnosed with acute moist dermatitis. This resulted in an unexpected vet bill that I was not in a position to afford. Had someone simply been honest about what happened and explained how to care for the injury, this experience would have been very different. Pet owners deserve clear communication when something goes wrong, and I hope PetSmart does a better job of being transparent in the future.
