Hubby & I came here for his big 30! Both of our first times. We were running a little late so we called ahead of time and the guy who answered told us it's no problem, they'll take care of us. We get there and we're the only ones! I loved how big the area was. Immediately, Marshall greeted us and gave us the perfect intro. He asked if we were celebrating anything and we found out it was his birthday too!! What a perfect day to go lol. I believe we did the wine tasting with 5 or 6 diff types. He asked what my preference was in wine, so I told him I loved sweet and fruity. All of the ones he brought for me were EXACTLY that! I loved them all. My husband is more of the type to adventure out, so Marshall gave him a variety and he enjoyed those as well. We ended up loving the pineapple wine and purchasing a bottle for our stash at home. The one thing I loved about this place and about Marshall's attitude/personality was that this didn't feel like a boujee spot! I was a little nervous that wine tasting would be us surrounded by judgy workers, but it was the complete opposite! We saw a few other workers and they were just as nice! This was such a great experience. My husband and I went to the Chocolate and Wine Tasting. The wines were perfectly paired with the chocolates. The person who was looking after us (Cornelius) was very nice and informative. I appreciated his good vibes and his stories that paired with the wines. What was also good was the sour dough bread and garlic butter with the goat cheese and tomato basil. The portions were very good for the price. I am a bit of a wine snob but I like this winery. It makes "island wine" and so don't expect Napa/Sonoma level of taste. It doesn't make traditional wine and most of the wines have aromas that are heavy on coconut. They're good to pair with Poke. I like the chill vibe and that it's off the beaten path. The area is quiet and tucked somewhere where there's a lot mountains and greens all around. I would definitely come back with friends for drinks and snacks to get away from the crowds at Waikiki. read more

Wine tasting out of a wine factory on O'ahu? Say what? I found out this place by way of my foodie friend Kris (@krisfoodventure), and nostalgic for Napa after coming back one month prior, I knew I had to make reservations ASAP. Luckily for my friend and I, there was a slot open for a Friday mid-afternoon prior to going to the Beyond Van Gogh exhibit in town. We wondered why the slot was for 1 1/2 hours, as I knew that there was no actual winery to tour, and only a tasting room to see. And it was intriguing because it is tucked away in Kapa'a Quarry beside some warehouse shops. From my experience, wine tastings are of 4-6 different wines, but at Oeno, 8 different wines are served for $25! The portions are very generous as well... almost *too* generous LOL. *mango dragonade ($25 for a full bottle): a sangria style cocktail wine with mango, dragonfruit, and lemon flavors. Dangerous because of the low alcohol content. *California moscato ($32 for a full bottle): with notes of honeysuckle and island plumeria, it is definitely more crisp than sweet. I love my Italian moscato that I currently have at home, but I wish that I had picked up a bottle of this as well! *dry style Riesling ($32 for a full bottle): even with floral tones, apricot, and Liliac, it was too dry for my taste. I was able to down it though. *blackberry Shiraz ($25): also dangerous because of the low alcohol content. Think of this like a spiked blackberry juice. *rosso grande excellente ($32): a rich Sangiovese blend with cherries and dried cranberries, with notes of violets and milk chocolate. Great for an introduction to red wines. I've definitely had my share of red wines and am not much of a red wine person, but I LOVED this. Also wish I got a bottle to take home. Because of time constraints, we were not able to sample the other 3 wines, but we thoroughly enjoyed these with our pupu of toasted French sourdough bread with roasted garlic butter ($9) and goat milk cheese ($5). Even with 5/8 of the wines, those hosts got us buzzed, that's for sure. We also got a good sense of their different wines. We wished that there were more pupu options to complement the wines as well, but nonetheless, we were satisfied! Oeno makes their wine on site from imported juice. The wine they serve and sell is much younger and not as complex as something made from freshly crushed grapes and allowed to age. The inside looks less like a traditional tasting room and more like a wine making facility. Also, don't expect lush grounds or estate property. The winery is located in a strip mall next to an Irish pub and a Dominos pizza. The tasting room staff was very friendly and helpful. The website said that guests are welcome to bring in their own food, so we went to a nearby grocery store and made a charcuterie plate for our tasting! read more

Friendly staff, great ambiance, and amazing butter for the sourdough. Wine was just terrible. We did the wine tasting and the Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc were "fruit infused" to the level of a sweet moscato. The red wines were equally sweet and body-less, completely lacking in any tannin. I don't know how they managed to make the port taste bad, but it tastes like grape juice with a bit of brandy. Actually I know why, to an extent. They source their grapes as grape juice from other wineries, and the wine is fermented in plastic vats in 90 degree weather inside the same open-bay warehouse where you would do your tasting. read more

Totally got over-charged! ABC Stores sold their wine for less than half the price! SHAME! We felt really taken advantage of because the owner basically gouged us on the wine we bought. We arrived after a 30-minute drive from Waikiki and spoke with one the owners, Marshall Zeigler. We bought two bottles of their Tropical Lime wine which totaled over $50 after tax. Come to find out, ABC Stores sold the same wine at $12.99 each! I even took a picture for proof. The owner basically double-charged us for each bottle of wine. Shameful! We drove all this way to almost the middle of nowhere and got ripped off! They're literally in a warehouse in a manufacturing area; so don't expect to be seeing vineyards or anything like that. Not much of an experience in terms of wine tasting since it's just in a random warehouse and you get ripped off by the owner. read more

The best part was the wine ,it was incredible and sulfate free!! We ended up leaving with four bottles. It's hard to resist guys. A friend of mine bought a groupon for a wine tasting to this place. Wonderful experience, and it was so nice - we were the only ones there! We enjoyed 6 pours and its bring your own pupus! We brought a Charcuterie tray and some fruit for our little foursome - it paired very nicely with the different varietals of wine offered there. According to our knowledgeable server, the wine list changes weekly. Yes, WEEKLY! I'll definitely be back! The décor is very nice, and the size is cozy - the walls have paintings and art work from various local artists for sale. There are several 4 top tables, and a lounge area toward the front. Parking is available in the lot out front and on street. The also offer a wine-making package, which I may try next. They make all of their wines right there in the shop and most are sulfite free (or low sulfite). The pricing of the wine making experience depends on the wine you select and varies from $450-580. The whole process takes a few months from start to finish and while your wine is fermenting, you can design your own label. You then come back with a few of your best buds and have a bottling party where you bottle your wine and enjoy some of it while doing it . . . . . can't wait to plan that little adventure. Our host ( I'm so sorry I can't remember his name! ) was so accommodating and did a great job with helping us understand the build of all of the wines. Oeno staff is awesome, ambiance is nice for that simple garage space, and wine is okay. I would recommend visiting at least once for a wine tasting. It was difficult to find Oeno at first, located in a business warehouse type complex, and we have visited a handful of times now since our first visit in June 2022. We are from WA where we regularly visit local vineyards and where we are also wine club members of a few different wineries in the state so we have an advanced palate for amazing wine. Now that we live in Oahu, we were wanting to find a winery we could possibly fall in love with on the island. There is not much (or any) option as far as wineries in Oahu so we are settling for what we have here and continue to visit Oeno, not for the okay wine but, for the nice vibe they have going on, the good convo with the staff, who are always attentive, and to support small business. I find the wine slushy tastes strangely good and I never pass it up when I visit. We signed up for their wine club while we were happy and feeling the effects on our first visit because the idea of coming out here for a wine date regularly with friends sounded great at the time. After a few visits, we decided to no longer continue the membership....but, we still like coming here because we like the feel of the space and the people have good vibes. read more

FPO and I went to a birthday party ... in February ... at Oeno Winemaking in Kailua. Named after the Greek goddess of wine, it's pronounced Eenoh and it's located next door to Kailua Town Pub and Grill. Parking is in the same lot and some of the stalls are a little tight. Our host and hostess (it was her birthday) told us there was a Groupon for a 90-minute wine tasting for two with a bottle of wine to take home for $48.00. Anyone going to the party could buy the Groupon and save $40.00. It was a really good bargain and we've gone back to Groupon several times subsequently for other outings ... such as the Ko Hana Distillery Tour we did for FPO's birthday (anyone else see a trend?). Anyway, because it's long Oeno is bigger than you'd expect by looking at it from the outside. More arty than snobby it's a nice, welcoming place, and a lot of fun. They also do wine making parties too and you can see some of their efforts aging along the wall. During our visit I saw two people who were there bottling their efforts. They said they'd had a blast. I read some other reviews that said they have some pupu style foods but we BYOF'd and brought our own variety of meats, cheeses, and fruits. For our wine tasting parties we tried six different wines from their list including a California Pinot Blanc (crisp - according to my notes), one called Rico Suave (fruity), a Chilean Camenere, a French Merlot (savory), Amarone di Valpolicella (good with meats), and an Italian wine called Piedmont Barolo that was really weird and and oddly enough, left me with a bacon aftertaste when I tried it with Asian pears. I'm still not sure how that happens. We also got a bottle to take home and, like many others, bought extras. Marshall took care of us and he was awesome. It was from talking with him we learned all about the different wines we tried as well as how to pronounce the name of the establishment. We also learned he's one of the owners and that Oeno has been around for ten years but the current owners bought it in 2012. The Groupon apparently drives a lot of business to Oeno so it's sometimes hard to get a hold of someone on the phone but it's well worth the effort. I had a lot of fun and would totally buy another Groupon and go again with different friends so they could enjoy the experience. read more

There aren't many wineries around so this is where you will want to get your Napa feelings on! Nice owners and a nice shop. They have a wine club and they also have a program where you can make your own barrel of wine (at least that was my understanding) and give your wine out as gifts! That sounds SUPER COOL to me. Made reservations on Airbnb and caught my attention how Oeno was the only winery in O'ahu. As soon as we got in we were greeted by the lovely Molly. Her hospitality was great and so informative with their wines they make on the island. Favorite wine after the tasting was the coconut and we ended up getting a free bottle free since it's was a party of two for the wine tasting. I was gifted a Groupon ticket from a friend and couldn't have been happier... because true friends give the gift of a buzz. Marshall, one of the owners, was awesome and fun and very helpful in teaching us about wines. So here's the skinny: Establishment: nice, clean, and decorative. Fills up relatively fast since it's not a huge vineyard-type place, but it is still great for parties if you make reservations in advance. Drinks and pupus: only foods available are the bread and cheese, but there are several places in walking distance that serve decent food if needed. That being said, THE BREAD AND CHEESE ARE THE BOMB!!! All is in-house made, including the cheese. As for the drinks, a delightful tasting of 6 wines with a brief description is just what the dr. My bestie brought me here for a wine tasting experience after she bought the deal on Groupon. Definitely a gift to remember! I was pleasantly surprised with how much I loved their wines, as I'm not a huge wine drinker myself and tend to be picky about bitter tastes and love my sweet wines (moscato all the way!) We got to try 6 of their wines from their weekly wine list, though didn't get to choose which six. I was disappointed that we didn't get to sample their pineapple kiwi chardonnay which sounded totally up my alley! However, I did really enjoy the wines that we tasted. For a picky person like me, they were very easy to drink. We used their wine scoring sheet as well and had fun judging each one we tried. My favorite was the vidal ice wine, and if you love the sweet wines like me - you'll love this one too! At the end we got to choose a bottle to take home. $29 bottles were included with the groupon, but if we wanted a more expensive wine, such as the $38 vidal ice wine, it would be $15 extra. The man helping us was really friendly, knowledgeable and was able to answer any questions we had. I especially loved their Mysitification and Italian Piedmont Barolo (the bottle we took home!), but all were delicious. We're from California wine country and we love going tasting! We read other reviews and most of them said to bring your own pupus. We went to food land in Kailua and picked up some charcuterie snacks real fast. We walked into Oeno and a table was waiting for us per our reservation. The shop is where they make their wine. We got to talk to the staff and loved all the info while we were tasting. They have to get the grape juice (from ALL the wine regions from all over the work) since the agriculture laws in HI are so strict. They create wonderfully flavored wines that are young wines right there in cool bottles where you're tasting. The flavors were really good! I was leery of sweet and flavored wine but omg I loved all of them! They really know their stuff! They offer different options that you can do from tasting, buying bottles, and making your own batch. Marshall was great!! We came in from Wisconsin - I booked the tasting a few months ago and emailed to ask about it. Marshall responded right away and we were on the books. Came here for a double date with my husband and his two friends and the service was amazing. Marshall was so sweet and nice and made sure we had everything we needed. When we got to the winery before the tasting started I asked how much it was per person, our server seemed a little confused but when she said $25 I assumed that was for both of us. We proceed with the tasting, thinking it was $12.50 a person. Totally got overcharged, if I thought it was going to be $25 a person for 12 ounces of wine I would have definitely asked to switch out the first and only white wine. With tip I paid $60 for 12 ounces of wine a person. Some of the reds were actually pretty good which sucks because it just put a sour taste in my mouth knowing the tasting cost me more than buying a couple bottles. If you go just ask about prices that aren't on the menu and maybe even split a tasting and get a glass after. read more

[Location & Parking] Oeno is located right across from Moke's Bed and Breakfast. There is a paid private lot you can park at. I think it was $5 for couple hours. If you don't want to pay that much, I recommend parking on the street. Don't forget to pay the meters! [Interior] If you love artwork, oeno's walls are filled with paintings from various artists. Inside, it's pretty small and cozy. In the front, there's a small longue area. There are 3 tables that seat 4. Therefore, I highly recommend that you make reservations. [Experience] I highly recommend you check on groupon for their wine tasting deal. It's such a relaxing and chill atmosphere, perfect for date or hangout with your friends. Unfortunately, there's no food served here so make sure to bring your own fruits, crackers, cheese, etc. The wine tasting starts off light with whites, reds, and then dessert wines. You even get a wine chart to record your experience. If you really enjoyed your wine tasting experience you can even purchase a barrel like what I did with my friends. You can either get a full barrel or get 2 half barrels. The pricing of the barrel will vary depending on the wine you select. My friends and I decided to get 2 half barrels, 1 red and 1 white ~$480. The whole process takes ~5 months so plan accordingly. One great thing about this is you can design your own label. They told me that photographs don't really print well so you're better off using another design. Once your wine is ready, you are can now bottle your own wine! That's right, you have to bottle the wine yourself. Instead, of doing it yourself, you can enlist the help of your friends and tell them to come for a wine tasting (and then tell them they're going to be put to work bottling your wine lol). The whole process of bottling the wine took us about 20 mins because we had an assembly line going. Here's what each person did: Use this contraption to suck out wine from the barrel into the wine bottle Poured extra wine into bottles if there wasn't enough wine inside Cork the wine Use blow dryer to melt the foil Peel off your logo stickers and place it on bottle Put away wine bottles So you need about 6 people to help you bottle the wine. It was a lot of fun we ended up talking story, eating, and sipping our wine in between. In the end, we walked out with 30 bottles. [Overall] I highly recommend you check out this place. Use the groupon offers so you can try their wine because it's amazing. To be honest, I didn't like wine until i tried the wine here. The wine tastes "fresh" and doesn't have that fermented taste like other wines. Really great service from Marshall. The only thing that can be hard is parking. My friends and I went this past Sunday to do the wine tasting. We had a blast tasting and chatting before going the the beach. We took the bus from Waikiki, it was easy to get to. My friends wine taste pallet are more of a dry red, whilst I'm savory and semi-sweet. With my friends being vegan, sometimes I have to make sure we can do certain things. They had no problem with the wine. My friend's boyfriend was especially excited because of the little to no sulfides in the wine. If you are able to go I'd definitely recommend it, and even suggest you signing up for the wine club. The only drawback of the experience was, I wanted to taste more than six wines. read more
