This is an airport wine bar. Yes the other reviews are true. It is mostly technology based. You order in a tablet and send your order. A bartender/server gets your ticket and brings you your order. If you want something else, you just order it on the tablet. I gave myself extra time because of the holiday travel, so I found myself at the airport near my gate super early. Luckily the bar was right across from my gate. I enjoyed a couple glasses of wine and played some of the games on the tablet during my wait. Not so bad. Met a couple bar buddies doing the same thing as me, heading back west after visiting the family for the holidays. The bar is cool looking, location is good depending on your gate, I did mess up the tablet once and accidentally closed my tab when I thought I ordered another round, but I just opened a new one. read more

After looking at the individual glass prices, it would been better to buy them separately and get full pours. The pours are not generous. The ordering is via iPad, which seems true for most bars and restaurants at EWR. However, the bartender is ready to assist. Despite all-electronic ordering, somehow my food order got lost. It ended up taking 30 minutes for my roasted cauliflower ($11) to arrive. It was pretty good, although lukewarm. Later, a server came by with an order of prosciutto. Not me. Not anyone else at end of bar that I was on. Similarly, a bartender came by asking if anyone had ordered a Bloody Mary. The charcuterie and cheese plate was otherwise okay, but disappointing at $21. Furthermore, the iPad layout is not well-designed. I found it difficult to read the tasting notes for the wines in my flight. A small scrolling window pops up. Why not a full page? Despite being very slow--the bartender said it was the slowest day he has ever seen--empty glasses and plates were not promptly removed. The music is loud and annoying. I should note that there are plenty of outlets and USB ports to recharge your stuff. I was leaning towards two stars, but they do have some nice glasses of wine. Oeno is an island of civilization surrounded by the lunacy that is flying commercially these days. The tapas all looked tasty but I just had time for a quick glass of red before the flight, and it was refreshing and fortifying. The ordering process is all done by iPad (no cash accepted) which is a cute gimmick and nice that it offers recommendations of food that pairs well with your choice, but it took three staff members to get the credit card swipe to work and it makes me wonder what the point of a gratuity is (conveniently added at point of sale) when the iPad does all the real work. It came in a huge cutting board they literally took over half of the table with only 13 small, thin slices of different meats and three crostinis. Seriously? If the cutting board is to take with you, it might be slightly worth it. I finished my $18 meat platter... Eheem... Cutting board and it just sat there empty in my table for 10 mins. I put it in the table next to me and sat there for another 10 mins before anyone picked it up. No one checked on us. There used to be a Vino Volo. I love Vino Volo but it moved to somewhere else in the airport. I'm new to the iPad ordering system but the waiter was very friendly and helped me out. Just know you have to pay when you finish ordering with a credit card or the order won't go to the kitchen. Receipt goes to your email. The iPad will keep track of your flight info so you won't miss it. They let me try some wine before ordering. Food was good. Wine was good. Small wine bar but I will come back again. I had 40 minutes before my flight would begin boarding, plenty of time right? It took 2 minutes to figure out the ipad and place an order: eggs and coffee. It took 25 minutes for the coffee to arrive. The food never came. I had to ask for a refund and run to my flight on an tempt stomach. Totally unacceptable for an airport restaurant. Heed the warning highlighted on this and other reviews: it will take a good 30-35 minutes to get any simple food order in front of you. Beyond that, the coffee was warm, bacon was thick but (if you can believe) undercooked, with a minimal amount of diced potatoes as a side. I was stuck at the Newark airport for what turned out to be seven hours (!) due to a series of events that, if not too recent to be funny (I am still feeling the jet lag), would actually be pretty funny. After a) missing my connecting flight by approximately 2.5 minutes and b) waiting in the United customer service line for about 45 minutes to be re-booked and assigned a seat on the next available flight, I retreated to Oeno for a little liquid refreshment and some R&R. We (I was with my husband) were able to snag a cozy corner table in the back; this proved to be a very welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of Terminal C. This was my first time using an iPad-only ordering system. It took me a minute or two to get the hang of it, but,once I did, it was pretty easy to navigate. I was excited to see I could use my United miles to pay for our drinks. (Due to this and some other recent, and most decidedly unpleasant, experiences flying United, I have decided I shall do all in my power to not fly them again. So, if I'm not going to use my United miles for flying, I might as well drink them away.) (I will add, though, that I agree with some others that prices here are a tad high. And, if I had used actual dollars, instead of FF miles I do not care about, to pay for my drinks, I might not be rating this place quite so highly.) Overall, though, as mentioned, sitting in a quiet corner in Oeno, on what as an otherwise pretty stressful and frustrating day, was a very welcome break. Despite the fact you order from a machine and not a person, we did find the actual people at Oeno to be very friendly and helpful. One man, in particular, who cleaned our table when we first arrived, explained the ordering system to us and stopped by again a while later to make sure all was ok when he'd noticed we'd been sitting a bit too long without a drink. (That was because I had had trouble remembering my United FF password, which is required when paying by miles; but, by the time he stopped by, password had been remembered and drinks were on their way.) If you have some time to kill in the Newark Airport and don't mind overpaying for a drink, Oeno is fine. Interaction is almost exclusively through a mounted iPad in front of you while travelers make their way to their terminal destinations behind you. After our flight was delayed we were looking for a spot to eat while we waited. We sat at the high tops adjacent to the bar. We ordered a half bottle of wine which they were out of, but they were accommodating with a substitution for a better price. The food was good! Not what i expected from an airport. I had the flank steak sandwich, which was tender and cooked to perfection and not chewy and hard to eat like many steak sandwiches. I missed my flight and also my connection, such a rough day, so I stopped here to get a drink before my next flight. Ricardo, the bartender has changed my mood since then, with a perfect customer service, he helped me with the tablet and menu. With his bartending skill, he made a perfect martini and recommended an amazing wine. The food also was really good, such a fresh and tasty. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere. This is a new restaurant in Terminal C of the Newark Liberty Airport. This was my first visit to this airport. And it appears to me that this new place Named Oeno is replacing the prevously Named Vino Volo in the same location. The food was reasonably good. We selected the Soppressata and the Salmon Sandwich. HIt the spot during a day of travel. Prices for liquor are high but the pour is okay. Service exceeded the food with the staff assisting in every way to show how to use the modern day computer ordering method. You can order your food, drinks, call for assistance, check your boarding pass and flight information, and search the internet from your table. The device can be taken from their stand and put on the side for unimpaired conversation with your travel companion. All this was new to me and I had fun using the device. Gratuity is added to your bill. This is a practice I despise. Found it to be a very common addition to bills in Miami Beach. Since I generally start at 20% to take care of a staff member in a restaurant that takes care of me the automatic 18% saves me money. Again nice places with decent food and good service are not that easy to find in any airport. But I would return to Oeno if ever in the Northeast again. read more

The bartender immediately directed me to the mandated IPAD which I dismissed and requested the Shrimp Ceviche. She stated the poster menu isn't updated and redirected me to the IPAD. The mediocre food takes forever to come out, the wait staff is totally uninterested in doing their jobs--I had to get up to refill my own water. When my food was brought to the table, the waitress said nothing to me and avoided eye contact. But she was very gregarious with her co-workers. I'm done using the iPad at the United terminal. You're better off at one of the sandwich counters where human beings are still somewhat accountable for their (un)professional behavior. Update: Holy smokes!
