I do not know what "Oec" means. "Japanese" of course is some of my favorite food. It's the "Express" part of their name that turned me off. Boy, was I wrong. Oec Japanese "Express" had me thinking I'd be getting pre-prepped sushi in cardboard boxes and hibachi style food and rice from freezer to microwave. That's the furthest thing from the truth, but it's reasonable to expect one to think that. This is a very nice place indeed and my food was served on real plates, and presentation is definitely important to these guys. They really went out of their way to garnish the dishes and I loved the carved carrots. My food was every bit as good as it looked. It was on the same level as more expensive places. For the price, it was unbeatable. I had trouble finding it because the Yelp map had it on the north side of Stage Road. I adjusted it, but Yelp has to confirm it. If you are driving around aimlessly like I was, this is right next door to Little Caesars. I selected 3 sushi rolls and asked if I could order 1 egg roll. The owner at the counter who was just as friendly as could be, said they only sell them in 3s and she advised me that I already had a lot of food coming, so I decided against it. She wound up surprising me a little later with 3 egg rolls on the house. Just as I was about to excruciatingly stuff the last bit of food into an already sated stomach, they brought we watermelon which I had to take home. You know you are full when you can't take another bite of watermelon. The sugared peanuts are not a Japanese thing, but rather the owners' special little signature snack to buy a little patience while your food is being freshly prepared. The sushi I bought was from the $5 menu. They do serve the larger rolls with the larger fish bites, and I plan on trying more. The egg rolls were nothing fancy, but what I noticed was how clean the fryer tasted and how perfectly they were fried. They were light and crisp without being the least bit oily. I ate like a king and spent $17. I would have given them 5 stars had I spent $30, but at this price, for this value, I'm at 10 stars. What this means for following visits, if I have to take stars away, one at a time, I will have to remove 5 symbolic stars before I affect their rating. They were very busy for lunch and there was a lot of takeout business. I have a feeling these guys will be here a very long time. read more

I've been here several times since they opened. Staff is attentive and friendly. Food always hot and fresh. If you're not sure if they have something simply ask. My meal: chicken yakisoba, avocado roll, hot tea. Along with complimentary peanuts and watermelon (Dine in only to my knowledge) The soba was good. SO YUMMY!! My friend and I wanted some Japanese for lunch, and I suggested we try the new place in Bartlett. I ordered the Chicken Hiabachi Lunch and a Vegetable Roll. My friend ordered the Steak Hiabachi Lunch, Crunchy Roll, and the Spider Roll. The sushi was very good quaility. Nicely packed and not falling apart at all. The food was very flavorful, but didn't take away from the quaility of the food. The prices are awesome for the amout of food you receive and the quaility. The staff is very pleasent. Decent Japanese American take out: I ordered the Chicken Yakisoba noodles. It came with broccoli, carrots, onions and one lonely mushroom. The brown sauce was the perfect amount for the noodles and veggies to soak in. All of the veggies were hand cut: none of that frozen carrots and peas that I see in a lot of Asian American take out places/buffets. I didn't care for the orange side sauce. It was was somehow very heavy on mayo get very watery. If I wanted a sauce on the side, I would just want more of the brown sauce, but I thought there was enough sauce. The chicken is of course chicken breast, so I expected that to be dry, and it was. However, it's like that other hibachi places I've been to. I think the sesame seeds should have been toasted to add some flavor and decor to the dish but I think overall it was a decent dish as a Japanese American item. I'm still sticking with my 3-star rating from last time. This place is just fine for what it is. I tried the sushi and it was very good. I kept it simple, though...none of the crazy cooked/fried/mayonnaise-laden rolls. I had the avocado roll, asparagus roll, sweet potato roll and the salmon-avocado roll. OK - the sweet potato roll is cooked/tempura...but it's not greasy at all. The other 3 rolls were very nice. Not too much rice and the pieces are bite sized....just right. I'm not a fan of rolls that are so tremendous that it requires multiple bites for a single piece (or shoving that one giant piece in and hoping not to choke on it...). I also ordered a seaweed salad and a cucumber salad. My complaint on both of these - they are served with tempura flakes on top. Why? Never saw that before....and it's not necessary if the salads are good. Just adds extra, empty calories. The seaweed salad was OK...but I couldn't really tell b/c of the tempura flakes. The cucumber salad was really bland...not much going on there...so I guess it needed the extra something. Chicken fried rice and crab rangoon were the other items that my folks had. The rice dishes are their favorites and I tasted the crab rangoon...a bit greasy for my taste. So, I'd probably go back and get the simple sushi rolls again....and ask for my seaweed salad sans flakes. read more

This place is AMAZING! Don't be hesitant to come and try it out for yourself! There food is top notch quality, not to mention the quantity is huge. The flavor OMG is out of this world, fresh ingredients and the presentation they pay such close attention to details. There is a gentlemen that helps deliver food and cleans tables he is so friendly and always smiles, asks if your okay and need any refills on drinks etc... The young Asian girl is super friendly and always checks in to make sure your food is good, asks if there is anything she can get, also makes great recommendations. The sushi is fresh and so filling they don't skimp on fillings, the fruit is nice and juicy full of flavor which is given to you when you eat in. The hibachi items are cooked to order which means your food is piping hot, and full of flavor. The steak is so tender and the veggies still have a little crunch which means they steam and not boil the veggies. The fried rice is flavorful as well not bland and tasteless like other places over all I wish I could give this place a 10 star rating because they deserve it!!! I was very impressed by this little place. I took my two young kids (3 and 6) here while my wife was out of town. The place is tiny (maybe 6-8 tables), so take-out is a common option. Our server was very attentive, and was able to offer me several suggestions from their large menu. I was really impressed with selection and price - many sushi roll options, for example, were available for just $4. The food quality vs price was very good. There was a small aquarium that also helped keep my daughter entertained. They even brought us a free plate of sliced oranges with little grape tomatoes sliced in the shape of "bunnies", which my kids thought were super cool. We will definitely be going back! read more

First time visiting. Ordered the tornado and sunrise rolls based off Yelper recommendations. Paid 18.05 including taxes. A little pricey for two rolls. The tornado roll tasted like blah. I couldn't distinguish between the flavors. I know there was shrimp, rice and cream cheese. The rest was a secret not shared with me. The sunrise roll is deep fried so it could have been a combination of anything and still tasted good. Should have just ordered two of those because it was very tasty. This place is amazing! I've gone many times over the years and it's always great. The chicken fried rice is so good and you get a pretty large serving. The small is definitely big enough for two people. The roll I always get is the tornado roll and it never disappoints. The staff is always friendly. The place is small, so I would recommend getting your order to go. They do have some tables but every time I go in they are always full. It can get a little busy and there's been times I've waited longer than i would like, but you can see they are working hard and doing what they can to get you in and out quickly. They must have a language barrier. We order food from them and one of the items was steak and broccoli yakaisoba. What I got was steak and broccoli only. I called to let them know and the only thing that the lady who took my order said was I ordered a side of steak and broccoli. At no time did I say side nor did I order any sides. She t then wanted me to bring my food back. Why would anyone go back after the person at the establishment tried to argue with you and basically call you a liar. I have order food from them many times but will not anymore. There are too many restaurants out there that want your business and I suggest going to one of them instead. read more

There are a ton of options available for Asian takeout within a few blocks of the Bartlett Blvd/Stage Rd intersection, but OEC distinguishes itself with very good food, service, and value. For around $5, you can get a hefty portion of fried rice along with a smile and timely service. I've never been in there when it wasn't at least fairly busy, but they seem to keep people moving through without too much of an issue. I tend to give a little extra time on call-in orders, and it's always been there waiting for me. The tables in OEC are clean, well-lit, and often full of patrons but I've never eaten there so I can't really speak to what the dine-in experience is like. For a takeout lunch though, I can say it's a very good option. read more

This is a 3-1/2 star review. Nice little Asian restaurant nestled in a strip mall across from the Bartlett Kroger's. I had the chicken and steak hibachi. It was pretty good, but I absolutely enjoyed the GINGER and Yum Yum sauces. The prices are reasonable and the other people in my party enjoyed their food as well. We ate on a weeknight and there was a steady stream of take out orders. The only issue I observed was there was no real area, other than dining tables, for take out patrons to sit. My husband ordered some sushi: a crunchy roll, a spicy tuna roll, and a snow crab roll. I had some of it, and was not impressed. The sushi has zero flavor.
