Last year finding and visiting Lucas Roasting Company was by complete chance. Mark and I had hiked…read moreup Mount Roberts and afterward all I was craving was an iced cold iced coffee. Unfortunately there are not alot of coffee places around Mount Roberts, especially none that were open at 3pm on a Thursday. So YELP to the rescue and what a sweet one it was! Lucas Roasting Company is a small bisiness tucked away in Wolfboro. Pretty standard coffee drinks but #IYKYK - some of the best coffee comes from small roasting companies. I ended up with a delicous iced coffee and took some canned nitro back with me to CT. This year - again we hiked up (and down) Mount Roberts but this year it was H O T - so it was a no brainer where to head to for some caffine and cooling off. This year I met who I think was one of the owners who gave me the origin story (they are originally from VA) and told me that they have been open for a bit over 3 years. There was no cold brew in the cooler but this time it was a Nitro Cold Brew that was ordered and consumed before we made it back to our lodgings. I wish they were closer but it's good to know that they are "just down the road" from my yearly hiking venue.

With the order ahead option on Toast Tab, it's been so nice to have great quality lattes for our long days. I got the 24 oz New Hampshire maple syrup oat milk latte as well as the spring special with a latte with a nice hint of cardamom. We loved their scones, both blueberry and the girls loved their strawberry rhubarb, and today I ordered a waffle with their maple syrup option with strawberries and it came out nice and warm. If you're in the area, you've got to give them a try! Great service and delicious coffee, definitely stopping in our last day in town. Sidenote, they have a super cute gift shop connected to the coffee shop with so many cute items. I got myself an adorable swag tea to remember my trip here to New Hampshire. Thanks Wayferer!

And then we had to go up and ask again for the waffle which we didn't receive until 11:59. I would also like to point out that when you pay with credit card their lowest option for tip is 20%. "Your breath is sweet Your eyes are like two jewels in the…read moresky Your back is straight, your hair is smooth On the pillow where you lie One more cup of coffee for the road One more cup of coffee before I go" (Bob Dylan) Some of my friends gifted me with a basket of Maine goodies after we all served on a charity committee for a few years. In the basket was a 12-ounce bag of ground coffee from Maine's Katahdin Coffee Company. After a few cups, I realized I was drinking some of the very best coffee I ever had in my long coffee drinking life. It had been a very long time since we used ground coffee, because we converted to K Cups years ago (don't hassle me about the environment because we empty out and recycle all those plastic pods). We used one of those "make your own K Cup" plastic/mesh baskets that was banished to a kitchen cabinet for many years, scooped in a few spoonfuls of Katahdin and brewed it in our K Cup machine. My Katahdin coffee was a Medium/Dark variety known as "Baxter Blend". The flavor ran rings around everything else we have in the house. Yes, it was a zillion times better than what I normally drink. Katahdin is sold in quite a few Maine grocery stores and through their website. The website has offerings in 10-ounce, 12-ounce, and 2-lb bags, with choices of ground or whole bean across a few different flavors including Breakfast Blend, Breakfast Blend Decaf, Baxter Blend, French Roast, Maine Whoopie Pie, Hazelnut and Maine Blueberry Pie. Yes, we will be sending out a mail order as soon as we use up every last ground of coffee in that 12-ounce bag.
