A few years back, I was in the area visiting another business and recognized Tandem's bicycle logo and immediately became intrigued. I soon discovered that they had a second location here, and told myself if I was ever in the area again I would step in. During this most recent Maine trip, I was making a few last minute stops before heading home, and thought this was as great opportunity to check little Tandem out and get some plural peps. Right from the jump, I noticed the vibe at Tandem Roasters was different. The big Tandem on Congress is large, usually always has a line, and has a large selection of food in addition to the coffee. This Tandem is smaller and more chill - the main floor has some seating around the perimeter, with a smaller room off to the side with more seating. In addition to their merch, they have a decent selection of vinyls to browse. The vibe is overall more chill here - I had time to browse and soak in the aesthetics, whereas you're kinda shuffled down the line at the larger Tandem due to the crowds. The menu is mostly coffee and related beverages; they have a small selection of bakes but it's not nearly as large as their other location. I had already had breakfast, so I decided just to go with a cappuccino. The beverage was good - everything you want out of a cappuccino. Service was also good, I was taken care of promptly and my beverage was ready relatively quickly. Overall, I'm glad I finally got to check this Tandem out. It's a little off the beaten path of the main commercial hub of Portland, however there are a few businesses in the area so it's worth checking out if you're in the area.

Seeing their seasonal (Valentines) specials on social media really sold us on coming in. It was not that busy when we came in and took no time at all to order and receive our drinks. The baristas were friendly and the spot is definitely a welcoming to everyone space. It seemed like a good spot for those interested to spend time on the computer doing some work or those wanting to watch the world walk by out the windows. The overall vibes were nice enough and I don't have anything overly negative about it but enjoy some other local spots more. It is a thin long space which maybe contributed to that feeling. Also secondly I think it leans a little more towards generic coffee shop. Drink wise my wife and I typically are iced coffee drinkers no matter the weather but with the walking around in the cold made us want that hot coffee to warm us up. I went with their Salted Banana Foster while my wife got the Cherry Cobbler Au Lait. Both were solid drinks to give us that warming feeling inside and delivered good flavor without being too overpowering. Arabica will be a coffee shop I will consider revisiting in Portland it just may not be my first choice.

He also assured us despite the line it wouldn't be long. It was true they definitely kept it moving. Showing up a little later in the day their pastries were low so show up early for the best selection. They have inside seating as well as a nice little outside seating section too. We did only get drinks so look at other reviews for info on the food. My wife got an Iced Mocha and I got an Iced Vanilla Latte. I do think they could take names to improve the drink pick up so you know it's your drink like many other places do. Overall the drinks were good but with all of the coffee options in the greater Portland area it would not be top choice.

Did not try it during that due to it being later in the day and not needing caffeine later in the day. Then unfortunately due to their usual schedule being at the community center only Monday-Friday 6:30-11:30/12 has not worked out due to work. Finally a day off allowed my wife and I a chance to check it out. You'll spot the trailer as soon as you pull into the community center. They have a board with the daily breakfast sandwiches and the speciality lattes. All of them sound so good it was hard to pick! We each got a sausage egg and cheese on English muffin and they were tasty. Drink wise I got the Pumpkin Pie Guy and it was a fantastic pumpkin seasonal coffee! My wife got a wild cherry mocha they recently posted on their socials. She enjoyed it but did think the cherry flavor came through a little odd. Besides speciality lattes/coffees they also had normal coffees and some energy drinks with flavors available too. Overall very good coffee trailer, that is worth checking out! I wish my schedule could align with theirs better to allow me to grab a drink from them more often.

Not a big place but a half dozen or so tables and some bench seating. They were almost out of pastries that Saturday near noon, so plan accordingly. Highly recommend getting your drink for "here" so you can admire the coffee colors like I did. I'm not in Portland that often, but I'll definitely return to this spot. After a few trial-and-error espresso attempts, I figured it was time to find some fresh beans and do it right. And I set out on a journey to find local roasters, and that's when I stumbled upon Black Point Coffee in Scarborough. Ordering on their website was super easy, and I loved that they offered local pick-up. It saved me money on shipping and felt way more personal. A few hours later, I got the email that my order was ready, and I headed to the "roaster" -- which is basically their home, and honestly, that just made it feel even more special. Talk about small batch. I went with the Colombia Huila Santa Maria, a medium-dark roast. As soon as I got home, I brewed an espresso, and it was so freaking good. The coffee was just three days post-roast, which is wild when you think about how most beans at even the fanciest grocery stores were roasted weeks (or months) ago. Anyway, that first espresso was enough to get me to email Black Point Coffee right away just to say how amazing it was. Easily one of the best I've ever had. They've got a customer in me now.

Best choice of the day by far and we have discovered a new favorite spot. By the name you can tell they are a cafe but are also an apothecary will be our definite go to for tea blends now. Plenty of parking available which is great and you will first notice it has rustic vibes from the outside. Inside is a little less rustic but still has the perfect feel/vibes. Cozy and inviting with lots of art on the walls. They have a number of bar stools, a few tables then a couple comfy couches to enjoy your food/drinks. Even with the snowy weather they were busy but we snagged a spot on one of the couches. I got their normal latte and my wife got their Maple Weekend special Spiced Maple Latte. Both were phenomenal and they use Milkweed Coffee Roasters. Which they are a spot that uses and supports local and makes a lot of their own things as well. Food wise we each got one of their sausage egg and cheese sandwiches on an English muffin. Again even the sausage was locally made and you could tell the English muffin was freshly made. We got them with goat cheese and pesto and they were the perfect breakfast sandwich, so much flavor! These would be absolute must try and in combination with their drinks are worth visiting for! I can't wait to return and get another sandwich and/or try even more food! Such a unique and welcoming cafe that also offers all your apothecary needs!
