The selection is immense. They have all manners of sausage. They have all manners of beef. They have all manners of chicken. They will even custom butcher livestock you bring it to them, for a nominal fee. Merkley's is also a throwback for grocery shopping. It's not just going to the mega mart and picking up random bits on styrofoam trays, covered in cellophane. You can talk to the butcher, ask for recommendations and opinions. They'll gladly tell you all you need to know. First, go to Walmart. Buy the biggest cooler you can fit in your car. And get down to Merkley and Son's. You should also get ice, but they will give you a bag of ice if you ask nicely. Oh, and finally, and get a box of wheat thins. It's for the ham salad. They make their own ham salad in house and in my humble opinion, it's worth the trip all by itself.

This seemed like a nice small town butcher and when the gentleman whom I purchased half a beef from said he was taking it there I was truly excited. While were were there picking up the half beef the people were nice and very friendly. We even purchase some additional items to go with the beef we picked up. When we got home however we started to put the meat in the freezer and that is when things started to go wrong. As I was stacking the meat in the freezer I noticed what appeared to be a great amount of beef short. Upon further review I noted that I had received the following cuts and weights of meat. 101 lbs of ground beef, 17-8oz NY Strips, 12-8oz ribeyes, 2-15oz filets, 14-3lbs assorted roasts, 4-packages of sirloins at 3 lbs each, 1-6lb brisket. This was 177 lbs of beef from 1/2 of a 1300lbs steer. At minimum I should have had around 250 lbs of meat. These people Essentially stole about 50 - 75 lbs of beef from me. Much of this was steaks too. Then they had the audacity to act like I was out of line for complaining. They said the Filet was cut with the Sirloins. They doesn't explain why I only had 2 filets and 4 sirloins from 1/2 a beef. The lady I was complaining too then offered to buy a tenderloin and cut it up for me. Why would they offer to do this if they had done nothing wrong. They knew they had stolen from me and they had been caught. When I told them I didn't want them to buy anything but would rather just have the rest of my meat they had stolen from me they hung up on me. Unfortunately, now my only recourse is to blast them on every media outlet, review page, and news outlet I possibly can in hopes that no one else is ever cheated again by these horrible people. That is what I will do. Every day from now until the day I die I will find someone and tell them to never use this company because they are thieves.
