So, after having the worst experience ever with Visionworks, I went in search of a new place to get…read moremy exam and possibly switching to contacts. A friend of mine recommended Americas Best, wow, BEST ADVICE EVER! I didn't get half way in the door and was being greeted by a gaggle of young, smiling, cute ladies; now I know how Tony Stark feels. I go through the eye exam with Dr. Endo, awesome guy, and move out. To a room to be shown how to install and remove contact lenses, this is. Where the fun began, Luna was running wide open, cheery, and wonderful, but Maraiz made the who.e trip to Odessa worth it. She was informative, patient, and very helpful. She has a great sense of humor; I was facing her and got turned around so i accidentally put my left contact lens in my right eye, trying to explain I was confused and not an idiot, we explained it to Luna and she had a big laugh. These young ladies were absolutely incredible, answered every question, told me I was doing fine, even though I knew I was struggling, they stayed positive and wonderful. You really need to switch over to Americas Best, trust me, you will not regret it, these ladies treat you better than family, or at least better than my family ever treated me. They are on 191 at loop 338, Academy parking lot just to the east. I will forever drive from midland for my eyeballs now.. THANK YOU MARAIZ AND LUNA!!

Review of My First Visit to America's Best…read more This was my first time visiting this location, and unfortunately my experience was mixed. I was scheduled for a 12:00 pm appointment and arrived early at 11:50 am. Someone who arrived several minutes after me was taken in first. When I asked why, I was told they had an earlier appointment, which didn't make sense based on the timing. When I was finally called in for the pre‑exam, the woman who assisted me was incredibly pleasant, patient, and made me feel comfortable. I really appreciated her professionalism. However, the experience changed when I was called into the main exam room by a woman named Oni. From the moment she called me back, her attitude felt dismissive and lacking compassion. I tried to explain that the glasses I'm currently wearing are not allowing me to see properly, but she cut me off and told me to wait and explain it to the doctor. The doctor, on the other hand, was wonderful--very understanding and attentive. She immediately recognized that the office didn't have my prescription and agreed to order the correct lenses. What bothered me was that Oni seemed ready to let me leave with the terrible vision I came in with. Only after I insisted and made it clear how unsafe it was for me to walk and drive like this did she finally message the doctor. Eventually, she gave me temporary contacts that were close to my prescription, but it felt like pulling teeth to get basic care. I left feeling upset because compassion should be part of the job, especially when dealing with patients who rely on you to see clearly. Not everyone realizes how much a small act of understanding can mean. I made sure to get her name because the difference in attitude between staff members was noticeable.

My experience from last year on March 2023…read more -Called make an appointment...no problem. -At appointment...wait for my turn...no problem -At consultation...they were real good especially since I lost my last bifocal glasses and had my previous (2 years regular old ones). I got a very good exam too. -Selecting frame...very informative and lots of selection. But I just went for what my insurance can cover. They listen. As I requested to have the reading not to high as the others made me dizzy. -Pick up appointment.. all good...no problem. -Day of pick up ...all good. They offered me, I think 2 weeks to try glass to make sure everything was fine......no adjustments needed. Their office is located at the Mall by 42th Street entrance (easy entrance and exit) Clean small office, but very organized. Friendly and acknowledged people.

My vision was too blurry and I needed a different prescription (I did not take the written one yet, I was in a trial pair that HE wanted me to try)! He kept saying things like, "Idk, you tell me" and "I told you what you should be wearing". Standing there with his arms crossed as if I was beneath him for having questions/issues with the prescription! Listen up doc, if your machine told you what I need, maybe somethings wrong, or maybe I have a problem eye like I told u on my first visit. I also told him what I wore for the past year and asked for that same prescription. But noooo, he wanted to puff out his chest and prove he could do something better for me. He can't do anything better than the last dr I went to. And I would have gone back to that doctor, but he is no longer in the office he was in last year. Couldn't find him, or I would have gone back to him again! First review comment: He's not a bad dr, but, come on! He has someone in another country answering his calls DURING THE DAY when they are in the office. I leave messages and nobody calls back or their people in another country hang up on you. If I can't reach them because of this and they won't call back, this is an issue. Patients should not have to drive to their office to get an issue taken care of, or to make a second appointment. Get off your lazy a_ _ and answer your own phones during the day. You aren't that busy.

When I first tried to wear contacts I couldn't put them in and he told me I had the worst case of "pokophobia" he'd ever seen. OTOH, when I came to him because I woke up with terribly blurred vision he sent me to an Eye Clinic for a more in-depth examination, and when they could not find the cause he sent me to a retinolologist who found that I had suffered a stroke in my eye. He was able to treat me and although it took some time, today I have almost the same level of vision I had before the stroke. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Schitoskey. If he is subbing for other drs. in his retirement, rest assured, you will be in great hands.

There was only one staff member that seemed like they were happy. The rest of the staff were less than inviting. This was not an environment where I felt like anyone even cared. When you're in the business of dealing with people, it's nice to seem like you like them and enjoy what you do. Smiling and eye contact helps. I wasn't treated horrible or anything like that. This is just a platform for honest opinions of places. The staff were not inviting and next time we will not make this place our eye care choice. Besides that.. I was in and out fairly fast.
