These guys are always great to my animals. Recently my kitty needed to have a dental and she needed quite a few teeth extracted. Dr. Sinclair made sure everything was explained to me and that I approved. When I picked my cat up the X-rays of her teeth were shown and again explained to me. This office honestly cares for the animals they see. They were very kind to her and checked in the next morning. I voice a concern I had and they got back to me right away! Not only will I continue to take my animals here but I highly recommend them! Our kitten went in for an eye issue and we discovered he has FIP. First issue, we were told our kitten was *supposedly* and 8 year old cat imaging our surprise at this when we have watched him grow since he was well, a kitten. - he is 1.5 yo During this appointment, after reviewing the blood work, we were told he would have to come in a few times and we would have to purchase a scale "you could weigh him with any cheap scale like a $20 one you can get on Amazon" for at home weight checks. We were also told the treatment is not cheap. While leaving our first visit they informed us, we would need to closely monitor him, and handed a list of emergency vets in the area, due to the stress from the vet visit. While making a comment regarding euthanasia. A week later, with very little interaction from the vet, spare a few text -from the staff, none of which asking how his condition was improving/deteriorating, *until notified we were changing Vets* note the vet was at a seminar but informed us she was reachable. Apparently not well enough. Oh, single phone call about the price from their chosen pharmacy *before the seminar* they informed us the cost would be over double the pharmacy I requested. *EXACT same medication. *This quote took until the end of the next day. After being told this was a possible euthanasia case, why they wouldn't have been faster to that I am not sure* the appointment was on a Monday, the phone call was not until Tuesday, at 3pm, and after receiving confirmation, the prescription was not sent to them until the end of the day, causing the medication to be received even later, as it is shipped. *After going to this pharmacy again, and having very fast responses from them and the new current vet, I see the issue was on the prior vet, and not the pharmacy. Once this vet found out the price of the medication was more than cut in half for us, then the protocol they had discussed in the office prior had suddenly changed. Now she wanted to see him every 7 to 10 days for CBCs, blood draws, reoccurring $300-400 visits, that they had said were very stressful for him, to the point of handing emergency vet info at the first visit, in case he ran into complications through the night, or required euthanasia. Note the first visit was $600~approximately. Let's also note that these weekly CBCs would also require their own "initial office visit fee" "but only for the first one" you mean the first visits "initial visit fee" isn't the same "initial visit fee" you need for the now weekly blood draws you're requesting. During this time we received the medication, we were in the process of moving, before we even brought him in for his *what we thought was going to be a simple eye issue* we requested a refill because, we would not be able to see our new vet until the 24th due to schedule, we were due to run out of medication on the 25th. Dr Sinclair who is more about the money than for the love of the animals, would not do a refill of the exact same medication. And said, "it sounds like you will be able to see your new vet before your current supply runs out." Let's also note that before the pharmacy change the offer to purchase all of the 84 day treatment at once was available. So a simple refill now being out of the question, make me raise a concern for ethics. Being she has seen him within the past 12 month period. Within the last week to be exact since the refill request. I will also note here that after the new vet appointment he is on the EXACT same dosage. So we have changed vets to a wonderful one, who noted our kitten is NOT a senior cat like Dr Sinclair claimed. Explained in depth the treatment for FIP and got us our medication just in time. Thanks to them, not Dr Sinclair, our kitten will continue to get better, and surprisingly at much cheaper cost granted cost of living area has changed with the move. After all is said and done, I do not recommend this vet at all. They are here for the money and not for the love of the animals. read more

One star for the employees and staff who are fantastic. However, Dr. Sinclair (medical director and resident DR) is to be avoided at all costs. She over prescribed my cat gabapentin (and then claimed it was the appropriate dose). My cat was unable to sleep, eat, or groom herself. Her back legs were dragging, her tail was dragging. I thought she was dying, she stayed up all night crying. I took her BACK to this office two days later as a result, not realizing the gabapentin is what was causing the issue. Once she came OFF the drug she perked back up. She wanted 100mg every 12 hours for a 7lb cat who is already calm. Then the Dr proceeded to tell me it was the right dosage for her. Even though it resulted in me bringing the cat back in, spending a ton of money, and a new DR pulling her off the gabapentin. My best friend warned me NOT to go here. She brought her dog here years back and they prescribed the dog anti-anxiety medicine for no specific reason other than to get her edge off. My friend didn't love that when there was nothing rly wrong with her dog. Dr Sinclair defended her actions of over dosing my cat. Avoid at all costs. There's so many better veterinary doctors in our area. The DR is nice but that doesn't account for lack luster service. I feel rly bad for the staff who is so wonderful but unaware of the crummy practices the vet exercises in her care. They also don't give discharge papers so don't expect any notes or information on your visit that isn't a simple bill. When i confronted the DR about the dosage she LITERALLY kicked me out of her office. I didn't raise my voice, curse, nothing. She's just PETTY and didn't want me seeing the other DR in her practice. Professionalism really needs some work. My dog was injured while in their care for lab work. That was after a less than stellar experiment with Dr Sinclair. I found her staff seemed to be nice enough but she was arrogant, seemed to be hesitant when working with my dog and horrible at communication. We've taken our dogs to this vet for a number of years, and they have been great. However, they seem to have an issue with staffing right now. I needed an appointment for one of my dogs so that we could get some tests run to see why she has been panting all the time, gaining weight, and losing energy. I had to wait a bit over a week to get the appointment. They day before, a Wednesday, they called and said there would not be a vet available and rescheduled us for Monday. On Monday morning they called and said there was no vet available and wanted to schedule us for the following week. I called another vet and was seen the next day. Preliminary tests required a follow-up which was scheduled and completed promptly, the way a vet clinic should be run. Bottom line, is while my dogs got good care when they were seen at Odenton vet, there is no assurance they will be able to be seen when needed. That is not good. read more

I take my kitties there for all of their care and have nothing but wonderful things to say. I took my old cat there before he passed away. They were so wonderful with him and me. Do not take your dog here. This place is a chop shop for pets. Every time I came to take my dog for an appointment there was someone crying in the waiting room because they told them that their dog needed to be put down. They will try to hold your dog until closing so they can keep them overnight and charge you more. Literally I had to call the police one time so they would give me my dog back. And this is after I had been going to them for over a year, never missed a follow-up appointment, never missed a payment. They are also very racist and sexist. They asked inappropriate questions about my personal life that were not even related to my dog. There were countless times I took my dog back home after he had to "go to the back" for something and there was something wrong with him. Scratches on his belly, nails missing etc. My dog is doing sooo much better since we stopped coming here. If you love your pet, do not take them to this place. Also they apparently mark your negative reviews as "spam". No, this was a very real and terrifying experience for my dog and I. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. They're incredibly rude and very hostile and abrupt in dealing with any issues being resolved. Make sure to check that they're using clean equipment to check your pets. They don't care about the long term health of your pets and take advantage of new pet owners. Very inconsistent office as there were always new assistances each and every time I have visited while also never being on time for appointments. I dealt with an ear infection issues with my dog here for almost four years before taking matters into my own hands (I was able to get rid of the infection with anti-bacterial soap). Horrible first time experience!!!!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! I called in a month in advance to schedule my appointment. During this initial call the receptionist continuously tried to receive payment for the future service. But I continued to tell them no I'll pay upon service and that I would be using my pet insurance. The day I came in for service, I was told to stay outside. I understand COVID is still happening HOWEVER we are not in the phase we're we can enter buildings without mask on if you've been fully vaccinated with the COVID shot. Yes, I've been vaccinated. However, I was rudely told to go sit in my car and wait to be called on the phone for my appointment. After 30 minutes of waiting in my car as I was rudely instructed to do, I called them on the phone to express how I didn't enjoy the recent interaction. I just couldnt understand why I needEd to wait in my car for my appointment and for such a long time for this scheduled appointment. I also expressed that my puppy was nee to me and that hed never been without me (we go EVERYWHERE together). I wasn't sure how he'd be without me being there. So I asked if I could come in with my new puppy. The receptionist was again RUDE. She says to me, " I will not be changing my rules for ANYONE! You can feel free to go to another vet." By this point I was too thru with them. I finally was a bit rude and simply hung up on her while she was still attempting to spit out rude nonsense into my ear. And I did exactly what she suggested, I took my business elsewhere. I've already spent about $800s at Banfield over 3 visit already. Banfield's staff is SO nice. The staff (this was in laure inside the Petsmart) walked me through the aisles to help me find different items for my fur baby. Even if they thought my mini Yorky was ugly (although he's absolutely adorable, you never know someone may be disgusted by his adorableness ‍). The staff behaved as if he was the cutes thing they'd ever seen and wanted to hold him and they were play fighting over holding him and blah blah blah. It was a great experience with them and it has been nothing but great each time I've gone for his visit. They even remember us each time we show up for his appointment. They also allowed me to come to my appointment when I was 30 minutes late and there was no judgement. I'm glad ODENTON VETERINARY HOSPITAL SUCKS because I wouldn't have been forced to look elsewhere and find Banfield. Be advised the staff at Odenton Vet are RUDE! For some time, I feel like we were always being upsold on something at Odenton Veterinary Hospital. But then my dog had a weird swollen crusty nostril and a tear duct that was blocked. We SHOULD have been given an antibiotic and eye gel right off the bad but instead was told it was necessary to have a procedure done to see if anything was in there or if he had cancer. Neither was the case and it cleared up AFTER the procedure with a couple scripts. This all together was well over $1000! Since the procedure my dog has been falling over and off balance, so no idea what in the world happened. Of course, they will check it out for more money. DONE with them. And don't even get me started on the hoops all clients jumped through during their remodel. read more

I have been here before as a child with my mother and her dog and I never remembered anything so horrible as the other reviews say. I feel sad that this place has such a low review because I feel it should deserve at least 3-4 stars. We used to have a very sick dog an Dr Lisa was very caring and involved in helping our jack russell. I came back here recently but with my own dog because he had a tooth root abscess. I did not have any complaints. I don't remember the vets name but she was a nice lady who answered all my questions. The front desk lady that day was young and happy. No complaints. The prices are the same as other places around here. I've been to Gambrills Familt Vet and they are similar. However Odenton Vet has a special in dentistry and could offer me dental services, where as Gambrills Family Vet cannot which is why I came here. We have been going to this Vet for years, BUT, It always takes 30 -45 minutes to see the Vet. today I went with my dog and had to wait 45 minutes to see the Doctor. They say they do surgeries, but they don't. I was given a paper to call for a referral. If I knew that, I would of never went there and paid $71.00 for an office visit. After calling Chesapeake Vet Surgical Specialists, I could of went their and got what I needed; instead of getting a non-referral and now have to get another Vet appointment and paying twice to get my dog looked at. It seems the Odenton Vet Hosp. has different Vet's working there..I wonder why? Can they keep good Vet's there working? my biggest head scratching moment was -- the doctor- Dr. Lianides told a man that they can't fix this man's dog of torn ACL. She recommended calling CVSS and making an appointment. He did call and got a surgery date for this coming Monday. The man told Dr. Lianides that the CVSS told him no antibiotics b/c Monday's surgery. she left and came right back and told him to buy antibiotics for his dog...which I would told her no and left. The Vet and the staff are very nice and helpful. The reception area is clean. And they were able to take us quickly. Basically my dog has a torn ACL and the doctor told us exactly how much it would cost to treat it and who to go to. It was an educational experience for us. I would recommend to anyone in the area. We just moved to the area and needed to find a vet for our boxer. This was our initial visit for multiple concerns. I was greeted immediately and taken to a clean exam room. The Vet (Dr. Corcoran) was thorough. She listened to and addressed all of my concerns. While I was offered recommendations for my concerns, I was not pressured into having procedures performed or buy any products. I was able to have needle biopsies and blood work performed that day. My dog is my baby so I do not take her care lightly. I would recommend Odenton Vet Hospital to anyone looking for a vet. read more

Today my 9 year old, indoor cat, Harry Houdini, was seen by Dr. Celeste Conn, VMD for a respiratory issue that was worsening. Dr. Conn handled my cat with expertise and gentleness. The assistant, I believe her name was Jennalee, provided sub Q fluids for my cat displaying great care and professionalism. Been going to this vet for years out of comfortability but have finally made the decision to leave for another vet because of such terrible service. I've shown up multiple times for appointments that they "forgot to put on the calendar", have had to wait 45 minutes after my scheduled appointment time to see someone, and the front desk staff has been rude and snippy. Sad to have to leave because my pets are familiar with the vet tech staff who are great but the rest of the service is so terrible its just not worth it anymore. read more

The receptionist saw me struggling to get my dog out of the car and met me at the dog to turn me away. Who does that? The front desk staff seemed reserved at first, but once you get them into conversation, they are a wealth of information and do everything possible to make sure you know exactly what needs to be done for your pets. Vets- Vets are great. They take time to explain information. You can get an urgent appointment when needed (this was not possible at my previous vet). Grooming- Their grooming service is good, but I was sticker shocked. Ensure you get a hard cost prior to service. With my dog present, I was quoted "around $50". Bad answers! Today 9/9/2021 took My dog Brandy in for nail trims. I explain the last time I had her nails trimmed it was not a good job only trimming the points off the tip of the nail. Then there is the subject of cost the last dog I had his nails trimmed there he weighed 143 lbs. less then 2yrs. ago that service costed $18.00. My Brandy's first trim which was poorly done costed $28.00, the reason for increase she weights over 50 lbs. Now her nail trim for today totaled $39.15. They said she was difficult, was part of the reason of the cost. My question is the first nail trim she was not difficult? I'm 70 yrs. old and have taken every dog I've personally owned to this veterinary center. I think I need to find a new vet.; also the lady at the desk said Odenton Veterinary hospital has been bought by a corporation. This could be good, and it could be bad. I don't know what some of these people are talking about. I brought my first two rescue dogs here 11 years ago and they have been there every time I needed them. I just got another rescue puppy and they gave been fantastic. Cami, Daniella, Veronica and everyone else at the front desk are amazing. They bend over backwards to help their clients. The doctors are amazing and care about the animals as much as the owners. I started to come here when I lived in Odenton and I have continued to come here when I moved 30 minutes away. Not sure about the medical side. However, the groomer Brittney and the office Manager Veronica are the absolute worst. I picked up my dog after grooming and he had poop on the back of his coat. Because of COV19 I didn't see it until I returned home because they placed your dog into your car for you. I called the office when I got home spoke to one of the ladies that answers at the front desk, who stated my dog had an accident right before I picked him. I asked why didn't you clean and she had no clue why Brittney would not clean him. I asked that Brittney contact me however until this day I haven't heard a word from her. I called this morning to schedule an appointment for my dog to be groomed to find out they want to no longer service us. Why is this my fault because I called you out on be unprofessional. Instead of her Manager Veronica accepting responsibility of what happened, you guessed it she took sides with Brittney when I have the pictures to prove the condition of my dog. I have my reason to believe why I wasn't taken care of. I would never want to take my dog there again even if he was on his death bed. Don't be fooled by wolves in sheep's clothing. I have been a customer of Odenton Veterinary Hospital for over 24 years. I was one of their first customers and have been very happy with how they have treated me and my pets. My pets have always examined and treated professionally and with the utmost care. Each time I stop in, with either my pets or to pick up my dog's thyroid medication, I am greeted as if I were family. The vets and vet techs show my pets the utmost care and compassion. In the past, they offered to keep my dying cat while I was out of town and when she died, they only charged me $60! Dr. Steve actually had tears in his eyes when she passed. I will continue to take my animals here and highly recommend that you not believe everything that the media says. There are two sides to every story so unless all the facts are known, don't judge. read more

This place is disgusting! Trust me, I'll explain... We took our brand new puppies there in December 2014 to get checked out, the aid was so gross: nails and hands so dirty it didn't seem possible that he'd washed them within the last week, smelled like he didn't have running water at home, cigarette smoke so strong it's coming out of his pores, and some of the worst B.O. I've ever smelled. I tried so hard not to say anything but I thought there's no way he doesn't know how dirty he is, but maybe he's going through something at home and he's between places or something. I tried not to judge, and I wasn't going to write a negative review for one isolated incident, shit happens. So we went back 4 months later (end of April 2015) and it was worse this time. All the same gross things as stated above but this time we include bodily fluids. I understand these are dogs but I'm an RN and seeing someone touch blood with their bare hands that they obviously don't wash on a regular basis and rub that blood on their pants is grounds for a bad review. It's a vet office, but it's still a medical facility and to see such horrible disregard for infection control makes me disgusted. We won't be going back here for many reasons. If you give a crap at all about infection control and hygienic medical personnel, stay far away from this place! read more

Very unprofessional in every aspect from the doctors to the staff. I have two major problems with this place. One, I called for an estimate on declawing my cats. It's a service/procedure they provide. I was given an estimate and told that blood work was included. I was told the only thing that might affect the price is if there was a problem found in the blood work. All the tests came back fine. Then, after several hundred dollars for blood work, I was given the same estimate to perform the procedure. My second issue is, if you offer this procedure, don't make your CUSTOMERS feel guilty about doing it! If you, as a vet, have some kind of moral dilemma, it certainly doesn't show. Because you had no problem accepting me as a customer and swiping my credit card. I felt badgered by him to explain everything I've tried to avoid this procedure. It's really none of his business, but, I explained anyway. Then, when it was time for the procedure, the front desk grilled my wife about what we've done to avoid it. As if that wasn't enough, when my wife went to pick them up, they announce to a roomful of customers, "Are you picking up the declawed kitties?". I'm sure they did the job well and my cats seem fine, but, I will never go back there. And, if you don't want to be publicly and privately shamed by these people for providing a service for which they gladly accept payment, I suggest you go elsewhere too. They are nothing more than bullies who push their own moral agenda on others. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! If you enjoy being treated like a human being by people at the front desk, then I suggest you find another vet to take your pets to. While I had no problem with the dr, the ladies working at the front desk were incredibly rude. The first time I had an appointment with them to get my 2 labs shots up to date. I walked to the front desk and was never even greeted with a hello. When I told them why I was there I felt like I was ignored. No one even said a word. I kept asking about my appointment and was never given an answer. An hour and 45 minutes AFTER my scheduled appointment one of the four women finally said something to me. I was told to better control my child while we wait. At this point it was well past his lunch and we were still waiting and no one else was in the waiting room. I told them I wanted to talk to a manager and I was magically seen immediately. I paid and was never given any paper work regarding their shots. Today, a month later, I returned to get a copy of their shot records so I could have them boarded. Me and my son walked in the door. I made eye contact with all 4 women. Not one of them said hello. I waited at the desk for 5 minutes. I finally said hi. One of them said hi very rudely and rolled her eyes and scoffed and looked at a co-worker like "is this woman serious". So I stood there staring at them for another 5 minutes. Then I said "are you going to help me?" The woman replied "oh, you want something?" And I have her a sarcastic response that she didn't care for and printed off the shot records without any further communication. These women are horrible. It is almost like a self service vet clinic and you being there is very much an inconvenience to them. Do not go there if except someone to be nice. read more

By far the worst customer service by front desk personnel I have seen in my life. It is quite a shame because I thought Dr. Lisa Wichart and Dr. Steve were rather good and professional. I waited over an hour and a half for an appointment and when I inquired for a reason, the front desk person rolled her eyes, clicked her tounge and just glared at me. Then told to sit and wait and control my pets as if I were back in grade school. If you want to be treated like worthless crap and pay over $300 for the terrible service from the front desk staff, this is the place for you. Always able to fit me in (and my foster dogs) when I call, especially with an emergency. The vets are very knowledgeable and practical in their care and advice. I took my older dog here this morning for routine vaccinations and was satisfied with the experience. The clinic is basic but very clean, and the prices are reasonable. I appreciated that they treated my dog as an individual - way too many places muzzle her automatically because she is an akita, but she's actually very gentle and being muzzled upsets her. They didn't do that. Luckily my akita is very healthy and hasn't needed more then routine shots, but if she did have a health problem I would take her here. read more

After being a loyal customer I called there to ask about an international health certificate as I'm taking my pets overseas with me (I'm a government employee). The girl said they didn't do that. But I tried to clarify what I meant because I wasn't at all (and am still not at all) convinced she understood what I was talking about, and she proceeded to give me a LECTURE about how it was "unfair" of me to ask the doctors to put their careers in jeopardy, and this is how they support their families, this is their livelyhood, and how could I POSSIBLY ask them to put that at risk!
