My dog received a nice haircut and bath today from Amy. However, I witnessed a different technician (grooming another dog) while picking up my dog. She was violently grabbing a small, white dog by his hind leg while grooming him, and yanking him back towards her. She did it 3 times! He kept trying to get away from her (for obvious reasons!!), and she kept yanking him back with force. I will never return here because of what I witnessed. I pray Amy did not treat my dog this way, but what I saw seemed borderline abusive. There was no one to tell there, and I didn't feel comfortable or safe reporting her in person. Given her anger about this tiny dog, I didn't want to confront her. I'm sure grooming is not an easy job, but it's never OK to be so mean to a dog. Update: I've made 5 attempts to reach the owner over the last few weeks. She has not responded. Update: 7 months later. The owner finally responded with excuses about a failed email system and defended the behavior of the groomer. Please avoid this business. The mistreatment of that little dog is unacceptable, and blamed the DOG in a private message to me. The number of positive reviews is confusing to me (considering how she runs her business). read more

Both of our dogs, a 12 yo long hair Chihuahua and 12 yo almost blind rescue Golden Retriever weighing 85 lbs, and our dogs are at ease and return squeeky clean and looking fabulous. Much better than some of the large pet stores offering grooming services and taking hours and hours. With Kitty's Canine, your pet(s) are taken care of quickly and never have waited more than two hours which means less stress for your furbaby. If there was an option to give it 0 stars, I would. As a grooming facility, you would think they would have experience with energetic young puppies who bark a bit from time to time, but I was wrong. I received a call from them, halfway through the process saying that they refuse to continue grooming my dog, and that he was never welcome back again. This was due to some barking, and a accusation that my dog attacked her, although the story quickly changed after speaking with the manager. Over the phone, she reported scratches all over her body, and it was so bad that I had to pick him up right away. However, after I arrived and met this groomer, I saw no visible scratches. This is not the worst of it. When I pulled into the back parking lot of Kitty's Canine Clips, I see my 6 month old puppy tied to a dumpster in the parking lot, unsupervised. As I walk into the front of the building, I come to find out that I am still expected to pay for full grooming services, although he was only bathed, then thrown out into the parking lot in late autumn. I will never be coming here again, and I strongly suggest you do too. update 4/2/2019: Laura, if you are truly the owner of this establishment, it is very disappointing you discount my honest review in order to deceive potential clients, who just want the best for their pets. I did create this account for the sole purpose of posting this review, only to report the repulsive experience both my pet and I had with your establishment. If I could give 0 stars, I would. Instead, I would like to describe my first and LAST experience at Kitty's Canine Clips in Annapolis. My fiancé dropped off our two dogs, Scooter and Taz, at the groomers on September 6, 2018. He received a phone call stating our dogs were ready for pickup around 1:00pm. At 1:45pm, he walked in to pick up Scooter and Taz and waited for about 5 minutes until being acknowledged (the shop manager and ~6 groomers were within sight). After he was acknowledged by a young woman, she looked up Scooter and Taz in the computer and asked for payment. My fiancé paid and she brought out our two dogs. Once he walked out to the car, he took a closer look at the dogs. That's when he realized Scooter had an OPEN WOUND under his left eye - there was blood and exposed skin (see photo)! He immediately went back inside with Scooter and asked the young woman what happened. The young woman went to grab the shop manager, Sandy, to explain. Sandy stated that "it looks like eye boogers that were pulled out, but I will call the groomer to see what exactly happened". Sandy called the groomer (whom we found out later, was Alicia), and confirmed that an eye booger was pulled out. My fiancé asked why he did not receive a phone call for the open wound on our dog OR even a notified that this happened at pick up. Sandy then began to state that the shop does not call a pet owner for an issue like this and argued that it was not an open wound - instead, it was an "abrasion". Sandy then told him that we needed to take better care of cleaning out the eye boogers. He stated he was not happy and requested the owner call him back for him to describe his concerns with Scooter. He did not receive an apology from Sandy until he began to walk out the door. As soon as he got into the car, he called the shop to request the name of the owner, but it went straight to voicemail and he left a message. He called again later in the day and left a second voice message. The next day, my fiancé had to email the shop requesting a phone call - instead of a phone call, he had to communicate with the owner, Laura Thistle (who I am assuming is the owner, but am unsure because she did not introduce herself), over email since she REFUSED to call him. Bottom line is I would NEVER recommend Kitty's Canine Clips to anyone due to the lack of communication and ownership of issues in the shop. The owner had time to email us back twice, after we requested FIVE times for a phone call. A simple phone call to us would have solved everything and made us feel like our concerns were being heard. Our issue is still UNRESOLVED with this shop. I would normally never seek to write bad reviews and try to resolve issues with a company face-to-face or over phone, but given someone (Laura Thistle) with 30+ years of experience should understand 1) how important a pet is to a person and 2) simple customer service. read more

After being asked to leave the Petsmart "groomers" because they refused our dogs for a nail trim, we left there pretty frustrated as all my dog did was bark and growl at another dog, while on leash. It's a behavioral issue and most dog savvy people know this. Thank God they booted us out because it lead us to Kitty's Canine Clips! I walked in, alone, to give the (real) groomer a heads up about my dogs behavioral issue and she just shrugged and said "That's fine, bring her in". Love that answer!! I've been using Kitty's Canine Clips for almost two years now since my dog was a puppy. I have always found the staff to be pleasant and friendly and they always praise him. Although I have occasionally used another groomer nearby when Kitty's was booked up, but he looks the best grooming from here ... far and away, the best. I especially like that they have an option for scissor cutting of dogs like mine with fast-growing hair instead of regular fur. I have booked with Amy each time, and she does a fantastic job with his scissor cuts. And my pup always comes away very happy as he gets lots of praises from everyone there! Every time we walk in and out it gets all over our clothes. Tried to make an appointment here for first thing in the morning but they were a no show after 15 minutes. I had to go, had to get to work. HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE First, let me say that I rarely leave online reviews, and then typically only for excellence. My puppies' experience at Kitty's Canine Clips was abysmal. Buffi Jessen was the groomer. After dropping by and evaluating the location, staff and dogs being groomed on another day, I scheduled an appointment for my two Scotties to have their first professional groom. My puppies are six months old and are brushed on a daily basis at home. One is a little shy, and the groomer was informed of this before I left them in her care. I was told it would be four to five hours before they would be done. Three and a half hours later, I got a call from the groomer double checking how I wanted their backs groomed. I had asked for Scottie faces and puppy bodies since their hair is too short for a skirt still. She also took that opportunity to inform me that the faces weren't going to be perfect because "they just aren't doing well." I replied that I would rather they have a positive experience than a perfect groom. I decided to go straight to Kitty's Canine Clips to see what was going on and see if my presence would improve the outcome. When I arrived, one of my pups was standing perfectly on the grooming table and the other was crying in a cage. The one on the table was occasionally looking around the room, but she is a puppy and was certainly being more still than puppies often are. I commented that she seemed to be doing fine and was told "the other one is the bad one." They soon declared Ida done and moved to get Rose out. As soon as she was touched, Rose started flailing around as I have never seen her before. The groomer got her to the table, but the lead came off and Rose would have fallen off the table if I hadn't caught her. The groomer put the lead back on, and I began trying to comfort my pup while she tried to brush her. Rose continue to try to get away and they asked me to step away so she wouldn't "be so bad" because "the owner being around upsets them." I did as asked. As sooner as I was away from the table, the groomer began harshly moving Rose around every time she moved and Rose began flailing again. She was not being bad. She was clearly terrified. The groomer was not giving her loving touches, sounds or words. She just continued shoving her around the table and being totally ineffectual in the face of my 6-month-old puppy's fear. I asked her to stop immediately and then left. Both pups clung to me in the car. I decided to stop at our vet, Greater Annapolis Vetrinary Hospital, on our way home for some positive stranger interaction. They were wonderful, as always! When we got there, Rose, the terrified pup, wanted nothing to do with anyone but me. The staff came out, got on the floor with them and began working with treats. Rose went from refusing treats, to taking them and running back to me, to eating them with the staff and going to others to ask for more. Thank goodness for the resilience of youth. I thought the worst was over until I went to brush them at bedtime. Rose was ok (she had been bathed but not groomed because of her terror), but Ida was now terrified of the brush. When she saw it, she ran as far away as possible. When I went to brush her holding her close, she put her ears back and started trembling. We made some progress with treats and kisses, but I am furious that my pup who loved being brushed at night now doesn't even want to look at her brush. While Kitty's may be fine for dogs who are used to grooming, they clearly have no idea how to teach puppies about grooming and no patience to help a dog that is scared. Rather than comforting and teaching, they blamed young puppies inexperience and called them "bad." My pups are far worse off than if I had continued to care for them myself. In contrast, our last Scottie, who also started life as a shy puppy, was nurtured by a patient and loving groomer. She spent all her 17 years loving her baths and grooming.
