My male dog suffered severe cuts in his private area, between his legs, on his belly, and even on his ankle. My female dog was also cut between her legs and ended up with infections in both ears due to the groomer, Crystal. She tried to blame these injuries on "matting" and refused to take responsibility, even going so far as to suggest that my male dog somehow caused these wounds himself. Immediately after the grooming, cones were placed on both dogs. Crystal herself acknowledged the cuts while she was still working on my male dog, but I didn't realize how extensive the injuries were until I examined him thoroughly after she left. While my female dog's injuries were less severe she caused an infection in both ears by plucking her ears with who knows what infected and dirty instrument after I explicitly told her not to! My male dog's wounds were far beyond anything that should ever happen during a grooming session. What makes her explanation even more unbelievable is that the worst matting was on his chest, yet there are no cuts there. Because of this negligence, we had to rush both dogs to the vet, resulting in unexpected medical bills for treatment and medication. Both dogs were forced to wear cones for an unknown amount of time until they heal, causing them unnecessary discomfort. The vet was shocked by the injuries and agreed that what happened was completely unacceptable. I trusted this business to care for my dogs, and instead they were harmed. To make matters worse, Crystal denied responsibility and gave misleading explanations. This isn't the first time I've had concerns. On a previous visit, another groomer from this same business cut my dog's paws. I reported it to Crystal (she claimed he was a rookie groomer) trusting she would be more careful moving forward. Instead, she caused even more serious injuries this time. For the high prices they charge, I expected professional, competent care. I chose this grooming service because of their glowing reviews, but my experience has been the complete opposite. The owner, Mike Bass, didn't even have the decency to return my calls after the incident. Instead, he chose to block my number. I should have trusted my instincts after hearing how rude and unpleasant he sounded when I first booked an appointment over a year ago. And to be clear, I'm not a one‑time customer. I've been using their services since August 2024. He even fabricated claims that I had gone through four groomers before his company and that I complained about all of them. That is simply untrue. My dogs are only two years old, and they had one groomer before Pup Scouts Annapolis. This business takes responsibility for absolutely nothing. They immediately sided with the groomer, who lied about the situation, rather than acknowledging the harm done. Their pattern is clear: deny, dismiss, and defend their staff no matter what. I even had to repeatedly text Crystal just to get an appointment after the government shutdown affected our schedule. If she no longer wanted to groom my dogs for whatever reason, especially since she lives far from us, she could have simply said so instead of harming the dogs to avoid future appointments. Future and current customers deserve to know that this business refuses to accept accountability and prioritizes protecting their groomers over the well‑being of the animals in their care. What Pup Scouts Annapolis calls "transparency" is nothing more than shifting blame onto pet owners and past groomers.

When booking online, the system prompts you to enter your card information immediately after selecting an appointment. Typically, this step indicates that a deposit will be processed, but that wasn't clearly communicated at the time of booking. When a team member later called to confirm my appointment, I mentioned that I had already entered my card information during the booking process. There was no follow-up from the team to clarify whether the deposit had been received, and since no additional communication was sent, I reasonably assumed everything was confirmed. However, I received a text message at 5:40 p.m. on 10/10/25 -- about 20 minutes before closing -- stating that my appointment scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on 10/11/25 had been canceled. I immediately called and texted but didn't receive a response until the next morning when the business reopened, at which point the appointment was already canceled. Given that appointments here are often booked weeks, if not months, in advance, it's extremely difficult to pivot or make alternate arrangements on such short notice. The lack of follow-up and the last-minute cancellation were disappointing, especially considering the time and planning it takes to secure a spot. I'm sharing this feedback constructively, as I understand things happen, but clearer communication and more proactive customer service would go a long way toward improving the overall experience.

I don't even know how they can afford to stay open. I literally have nothing good to say about this place, or how this business is currently run. There are reasons why they cannot hold onto employees, and why when clients find out what is really going on, they run.

The shop has difficulty keeping staff, which is usually a leadership issue therefore. Each time I arrive, I have to explain every to the new employee anew. That alone would be irritating, but I have showed for an appointment and the doors were locked. I have showed for grooming, and the groomer had suddenly quit. I have shown for grooming and was to be charged $30 as a member, and I've been charged $60. I have had to call 5+ times to insist on refunds when I get overcharged. It takes as many as 6 weeks to resolve overcharged fees. And today we had a bathing appointment which was cancelled via text 8 minutes prior. I've called five times to ask why it was cancelled and no one answered. So I drove there and the shop is closed. Yet they charged me the monthly membership of $59.99 to my CC on file. I think we're done for good. Of my three friends who used this place, I'm the only one still hanging on. The others cut and ran in months prior when they experienced the same cancellations and No Shows. I tried to remain loyal but ownership and failed leadership has pushed me out the door. Next call is to Better Business Bureau and my credit card company.

Every bit of beautiful feathering she has was chopped off and it looks like someone just roughed chopped the fur around her ears. it was devastating to see. I was treated with nonchalance by the staff and after sending an email to corporate and an email to the location was given a refund and a short reply email. Doggy daycare, I think it should be called doggy playcare…read more Playful Pack is a premier doggie daycare site in Annapolis for all types of dogs. Having a 1-year-old dog, it was important to me as I start back to work, that he had someplace he could go several days a week and socialize with other dogs and humans. Being apprehensive because of Covid not allowing us to tour the facility, I took a chance and enrolled him in doggy daycare. The first day is nothing more than a temperament test to make sure your dog meets all the guidelines established at the facility. That made me feel good knowing that all the dogs that are there shared similar calm tendencies and I wouldn't have to worry about my puppy being ripped apart by larger dogs at this facility. So my buddy has been going to this place for 3 months,  three days a week and I have to say he loves it. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday he goes to doggy daycare, and Tuesday Thursday, and Saturday he crashes out hard because he's exhausted from the day before. He's much more outgoing and has a ton more confidence around the house and anytime we go out for a walk. I like the fact that the animals are not caged throughout the day they are left in supervised play areas to be dogs. They get to interact with dogs just like them based on size and temperament and all in all I think they all have a great time being together. To me, it's worth the money to ensure at least three days a week he gets to be a puppy around other puppies. They have super fun activities for the dogs throughout the week and usually have at least a few birthday parties for lucky dogs. The staff including the manager is awesome. Each time I pull up someone's there to meet me and my dog at the front of the facility. My pup is a little apprehensive around people and other dogs especially those he has only met only once, the staff at Playful Pack is a different story, he can't wait to see them each morning.
