    Breast Milk Ice Cream
    Brandon Y.

When I heard about the Breast Milk Ice cream collab that they were having with Frida, I had to come by. I'm an open-minded guy so I'm totally into trying anything and most of us HAVE had breast milk before, we just don't remember it lol (infancy). So, I figure why not try it now haha, even if there's no actual breast milk in it (the flavor is made to TASTE like breast milk but does not contain any of it). There was a bit of a wait, but when I got in, they basically made my cone immediately because most of the people were on line to try it haha. That being said, I did notice that the person in front of me got basically two heaping scoops ( one to put into the cone, one to top it) while I got one semi-mediocre one. Tasting the ice cream itself, honestly, it's really not weird at all! It's like vanilla mixed with buttered popcorn. Just a tiny bit salty, nutty, and buttery, really not that unusual. Overall, pretty good ice cream, though hopefully I can get a better.... scoop next time? xD

I've always wanted to try Odd Fellows because of their variety of unique flavors! When I came with a friend, they were promoting their collab with Frida, selling "Breast Milk" ice cream. With a huge truck labeled "breast milk" stationed outside the store, the little corner ice cream shop was also decked out with merch for their collab. We got a float with 6 flavors: Breast Milk, Coconut Mango Sticky Rice (vegan), Grasshopper (vegan), Strawberry Jam, Ube Marshmallow, and Banana S'mores. The Breast Milk ice cream was not made with real human breast milk--just made to taste like the liquid gold. It was eggy, creamy, smooth, buttery, rich, with a tiny bit of salt. It tasted like egg tarts to me. My friend really liked it, but I thought it was okay. The Coconut Mango Sticky Rice was my favorite. It was very refreshing, creamy with a strong mango flavored swirl, but it did become a bit too sweet over time and I wasn't a fan of the mochi globs. The Grasshopper was a chocolate-based ice cream with Oreos--not bad, not great, just solid. The Strawberry Jam was strongly artificial, and the Ube Marshmallow didn't taste like Ube to me. Banana S'mores was okay; it had good textural components, but too much artificial banana. Overall, you can taste the high quality ingredients they used to make the ice cream, and I love how unique the flavors are. Also, I could not tell that the vegan ice cream flavors were vegan as they were incredibly creamy. While many of the flavors were a bit too sweet for me or just not my cup of tea, I would definitely recommend Odd Fellows for anyone to give it a try :-)

Prob your best option for ice cream in the dumbo area. Pistachio soft serve in a waffle cone was perfect (and huge). Much better than Brooklyn ice cream factory.

First time at this local chain. Smelt the waffle cone while walking the east river pier. Saw they have strawberry matcha and decided to take a cone to go. Decent prices with a variety of flavors. They have a water closet for costumers only. Dine in and patio seating with retro art decor. Great for those warm days and afternoons. The staff are nice and will help with samples but the flavors are solid. Beware the waffle cones don't have a closing sometimes. You might have to ask the staff to make a fresh one with a closed bottom or a cup for dripping ice cream.

Really delicious spot for classic and novel flavors! The service is friendly and fast, and I appreciate they have small metal spoons for people to try ice-cream instead of single-use plastic spoons. This location is nice as it's right by the waterfront and Manhattan / Brooklyn bridge, so you can enjoy your ice cream outside! I came in the summer and was immediately drawn to their seasonal flavor: mango coconut sticky rice. It was super creamy and the coconut flavors really popped, though I wish the mango featured more prominently. A single scoop was a bit pricey, so this is definitely a spot to treat yourself (and for me, likely a spot to try any novel seasonal flavors). I would definitely come again!

pretty good ice cream with unique flavors! ice cream was creamy and they let us sample the different flavors which was nice. they had a pretty extensive variety of flavors. cute old school ice cream shop vibes inside and right next to domino park.

    Ube marshmallow is the star!

This ice cream place is super cute and quirky inside! The flavor creations they have are out of this world- the Ube Marshmallow was DELICIOUS!

Soft serve was slightly crystallized and almost entirely flavorless. Friendly staff but not worth the $ or the calories.

My friend and I were in the area and if we see ice cream, we can't pass it up! I was sad that they ran out of the vegan grasshopper pie flavor and I'm not even vegan....but I enjoyed their coffee and hibiscus flavors.

As a lover of unique ice cream flavors, I'd been wanting to try OddFellows Ice Cream Co. for a while. This location wasn't busy on a Sunday (late) afternoon. The interior had red and white striped walls, a large lit up sign, and some seating. Most of the flavors were tamer than I had expected, and some of them had run out by that point in the day. My sister and I chose the Miso Cherry, and got a small cup to share. I really liked it, especially with the real pieces of cherry mixed in. My boyfriend said it tasted like someone had spilled soy sauce into ice cream, but inventive flavors aren't for everyone. Would definitely return to try more!

I really enjoyed this small ice cream parlor. I stopped in after a long day of taking portraits in the area. It had been awhile since I stepped foot in Dumbo. But glad I did. The team all got classic cones and the vanilla was really great. The inside was really cool, so it was nice to beat the heat. I will return back here in the near future. Hopefully before fall gets here!

Keepin it real out here in Dumbo My first time trying this expensive ice cream, actually we got it for our photoshoot, unfortunately dropped it before i had a chance to even try it. The workers were super cool and hooked us up with another scoop, that def made the ice cream taste better. The ice cream actually tasted great. I can appreciate all the classic & unique flavors. It was great in the winter, can't wait to grab a scoop in the summer and enjoy it by the water.

Banoffee Pie, Coconut Mango Sticky Rice
    Selena L.

I'm not even a big ice cream person, but I have to say I was thoroughly impressed with the flavors they had to offer. After sampling quite a few flavors, we went with the banoffee pie and coconut mango sticky rice. Banoffee pie was sweet and creamy and tasted like bananas, and the coconut mango sticky rice had chewy bits of mochi (?) that added to the texture.

The soft serve ice cream here is far above average making the experience all around amazing. A favorite menu item of mine is their small custard or red bean filled fish waffles. They are made to order & soooo good! Do not try & order these before closing because they will say no! This is a grab & go type of business. There are no tables for dining in. Street parking is free & on typical NYC/Little Italy/Chinatown parking. I have had good luck when arriving as late as possible. One of my favorite spots. I hope it never closes. The ice cream is thick and creamy but not as rich as American brands. The hojicha flavor is strong and really good and was definitely the dominant flavor, so the matcha got a little lost. The red bean was buried at the bottom of the cone but was good too. The taiyaki cone wasn't that great. I could taste salt, it wasn't sweet, and the batter had a bit too much flour. The texture was very crispy though which I did love. The rainbow mochi was tasty, soft, and you could taste the different flavors. The wafer stick was unnecessary. We both prefer Somi Somi, which is also dairy free, but I will say their hojicha is worth trying.

We tried the melon shaved ice $22 for the large which was a bit pricy but it was quite delicious. We were worried that the large might be too much for two people but honestly we were able to finish it without a problem. The melon pieces were sweet, the ice is milk based so it was creamy and flavorful on its own. We barely used the condensed milk that it came with (and we loved how they put it on the side for us instead). At the bottom of the shaved ice was cereal pieces and mochi which gave a nice different texture. We also tried their drinks specifically their blue lemonade and mango-ade which I thought was just ok. The highlight is definitely their shaved ice. Definitely go for the large as the small seemed much smaller and for double the price, you can get almost 2-3x more. Overall: it's a great place to grab a shaved ice and relax . The atmosphere is chill and you can stay without feeling rushed.

What I got instead was a cup of sadness with commitment issues. The shaved ice somehow had no flavor. None. I have had ice cubes straight from my freezer with more personality. Easily the most disappointing dessert I have had in NYC, and I have been living here my whole life, so please take that as you will. I kept waiting for the "sweet moment" to arrive and it never did. Just me, flavorless ice, and regret. If you are craving dessert, keep walking. This was a moment, yes, but sweet it was not.

I tried coming here on a Sunday afternoon and the line was much too long - so I went to Go Greek instead (review for that coming up). I tried again the following day (Monday) at about 4pm in the afternoon. There's still a line, but not quite as long- I usually hate waiting (which New Yorker doesn't) but I figured let's just see. The line moved pretty quickly, and you're given samples once inside. The ambience is very trendy, with some benches to sit, and the tiniest little tables at some of the benches. It's not a place to bring your work to. Don't expect to be able to hang around for very long. The yogurt is self serve, and with a selection of toppings. I got the original tart flavor and raspberry. Tried the passionfruit which was alright. Its tart is more creamy than at Culture or Go Greek. Overall it was good, nothing extraordinary. Forty Carrots and Culture are still my favorites.
