It is a deliberate constraint we put on ourselves, because a shop that has to live with its own work for five years cannot afford to guess, cut corners, or hope for the best.
Oddball Motor Works is an independent auto repair shop, and we run it on five values we hold each other to: Integrity Above All, Radical Transparency, Extreme Ownership, Respect for People and Time, Craftsmanship with Discipline.
Here is what that looks like from the customer chair. You see what we see — the failed part, the measurement, the photo. We build a repair plan that tells you what is urgent, what can wait, and what we would do if it were our own vehicle. You get the price before the work starts, not after. And if something is not right, we own it. No excuses, no blaming a parts supplier, no runaround.
We also take your time as seriously as your money. Straight answers, honest timelines, and a diagnosis done right the first time so you are not back here next month for the same problem.

History
Established in 2016.
Oddball Motor Works opened in 2016, started by people who loved cars and were frustrated by what the repair industry had become. Too many drivers had been talked into work they did not need, handed invoices they could not read, and left wondering whether anyone had told them the truth. We believed auto repair could be done a completely different way — transparent, accountable, and worth trusting.
In September 2019, we moved to our current home in Mentor, Ohio. The bigger facility let us invest in better equipment, better training, and better processes, but the mission never changed: redefine what an auto repair shop can be and give people back the trust this industry has spent decades eroding.
Every year since, we have refined how we diagnose, communicate, and stand behind our work. We are still chasing the same goal we started with.
Meet the Business Owner: Scott P.
I started Oddball Motor Works because I was tired of watching the big players in this industry treat customers like transactions. Quotas over people. Upsells over honesty. Nobody explaining anything, and nobody accountable when the repair did not hold. I had seen enough of it, and I decided that if I wanted a shop that did it right, I was going to have to build one.
That is the whole mission. Tell people the truth about their vehicle. Show them the evidence. Charge a fair price for excellent work and then stand behind it — which is why every repair we do carries a 5-year / 50,000-mile warranty.
Running this shop means building a team that holds the same standard when I am not in the room. I would rather develop technicians who take real ownership of their work than manage people who are just filling a bay.
