I was very excited to go to this optometrist because I knew someone who went and had a convenient experience, and although I liked many things about the doctor, I left feeling really bad about the way I treated generally. At my first visit, I asked the receptionist where she would advise me to use my vision benefit, towards glasses or contacts. She said she didn't know, I should choose. So I asked her what the costs were for each, she said she didn't know. But she did know what I needed for my glasses and what brand of contacts I was using and my insurance, which is a common type. So she was informed enough to advise me. After I tried to receive help through a few other questions, it was clear she was just not willing to help me so I left it alone. When I returned for my follow up visit, I received the same curt behavior, but I appreciated the doctor's intelligence so I assumed it was worth it. However, my follow up appointment included a 2 and a 1/2 hour wait, in which another patient and 3 walk ins, were helped while I waited with some eye drops in that were painful to me. (I have a sulfa drug allergy, which is often in eye drops if not carefully checked. I suspect that might have contributed.) I was neglected to the point that it hurt my feelings. I was uncomfortable, cold (no heat!), had to cancel plans, etc. I was initially told by the doctor that the follow up would only take about 30 mins. so although I anticipated some wait time since this was a doctor's office, I felt that this amount of time crossed a line and I felt ignored. The staff never apologized to me, or helped me further. I would think a small shop like this, in an neighborhood booming with trendy eye places, could stand out by providing excellent patient services, but I was not treated like a patient or a customer, although I was both. I was treated like an annoyance, and this is a HUGE problem! Myself and my insurance company generated a lot of income for Oculus 20/20, yet I was treated as insignificant. I think next year, I'll go try those trendy haunts! read more
