I just rented from Frank at Octane Thrills for the second time. Just like the first time, Frank was courteous, accommodating of my schedule, and very knowledgeable. The 1000 RZR had more power than I could even attempt to use to its fullest extent! Just like the first time, I picked up a machine that was clean and full of fuel; and I again returned it clean and full of fuel - my deposit was immediately processed for return 100%. I'll be back for a third time soon! ----------------------------- I rented a 1000 turbo RZR a few days ago. Frank is very polite, professional, and answered all of my questions. I've heard horror stories about some less than reputable rental companies, but I felt very comfortable through the whole process. I had never been on a side by side before, and Frank was very thorough in teaching me how to operate it, and warning me of the potential dangers of riding such a powerful machine. I was immediately impressed by the performance of the RZR - almost frightened, haha; but I quickly learned how to operate it with ease. Needless to say, it was a fun day that I'll never forget! I had a minor mechanical issue, and had to call Frank for some guidance. He answered his phone immediately (on a Sunday evening), and we quickly resolved the issue. My deposit was returned in full right away. As he requested; I respected his machine, and I didn't break anything. I can't wait to rent from him again! read more

Talk about some super shady crap!! We called an ad we found on Craigslist a week prior to renting from someone called "Chaplin" At first the guy seemed very nice and was making us "great deals" on a razr 1000. We set everything up and had said we needed the rental for the following week. After receiving an invoice for 900 and change for 3 day rental (about 100 dollars less then a place we found via Google) We were all set and ready to pick up the night before our rental day should start. That's when things started to get a little weird. We called the night before just to double check and confirm. That's when Chaplin told us that our rental wasn't for that weekend but instead the following weekend. When we must have both said a dozen times what date we needed the rental for. He (Chaplin) then proceeds to tell us that not only does he not have anything available for us to rent (this trip was planned months in advance and no way we could just push it a week back because of someone's error) he tells us that the money can not be refunded because it's in the 2 week window to cancel ?! After a few calls around to see what we could do as far as rentals would go.. (Being that we now were out almost 1k dollars on our credit card) Chaplin gave us a call back and informed us that he would refund the money minus 80 dollars for a cancelation fee... And that he "knew of another place" that they sometimes work with that had a razr 1000 turbo that we could rent. Off we were calling this other place and a guy named frank. To make this shorter ... The price was not the same deal that we first had with "Chaplin" and we ended up driving to a random parking lot in Gilbert and waiting over 45 mins (almost 10pm when we finally left) The razr was clean... But the tires were in terrible condition. With one tires sidewall having a two inch gash in the side. We asked about it and frank said that it shouldn't be a prob as the tires are built very strong and blah blah blah. He informed us that there was a tool box in the back that had all the tools needed incase we needed to change the tire at question. No gas tank included and no goggles like almost all other places include. We informed frank that we were planning on going up the crown king trail at which Frank's response was "you'll have no issues at all with this thing" So it happen... About a few hours into our ride the tire popped... Not the tire with a large gash in the side already but the other one that was also as bold as you can imagine. Stuck in the first triple digit day this year.. We kept calm and decided we would change the tire.... The jack was the worst pos we have ever seen. Almost not even being able to jack up the vehicle enough to let us change the tire. The "spare" tire was in even worse shape then the tire we were replacing. Bald with no tread on it. This spare tire ended up needing to be pumped up every 20 mins or so , as it was losing air. So much for a spare right? Not only do these guys rent out something with tires that you have to bank your safety on... We had to cut out trip down a day because no one wanted to go out riding something with one tire that has a chunk of rubber missing and a spare tire that leaks air both with no tread. This place ended up charging us over 700 dollars to repair the tire and a supposed cracked panel on the bottom or something. Granted damage happens. But this isn't the best practice for rental if you ask me. If it had a new tire it wouldn't have popped and if the spare was a real spare and not an old tire we could have ridden another day and this so called damage to a panel on the bottom wouldn't have happen in the first place. These guys (frank and Chaplin) from reading Yelp (which I wish we would have read before renting) work together it appears and this whole thing I just typed seemed like a theme. Don't bother !! Google off road rental and get someone that meets you in a store not a parking lot and that maintained the vehicles you rent. Cause when your out hours away in the desert you don't want to risk your life on a shady rental. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS FRAUDULENT PLACE once we got there they have changed our reservation vehicle to a lower model then was trying to up-sale us for 50% from the original cost, the most annoying thing was when frank said " oh you do not have to take it " Knowing that we cannot go anywhere else they have used it to take it vantage of us. The worst part not only they expect you to wash the vehicle they will also be going to take a deposit of $1000 with 100% intention to not return it in full. First, Frank is a solid guy, he takes great care of his machines and goes the extra mile to make sure your trip is the best (walks you through the machines, the trails, and any other questions you may have). Secondly, I've done a lot of research and he is priced right and doesn't nickel and dime you. Lastly, It is always scary renting such expensive equipment and this last time I was renting with 5 friends and they were here on my recommendation. Used Octane Thrills as they sounded more professional than others that I called around to. They were more expensive than others but I was okay with that. We had a blast taking them out. Service was great and Frank and Travis were very friendly. My only complaint is the fact I was charged for the check engine light coming on while driving it on the main roads back to their place going 35 to 45 mph. The cost of a belt was $300. Guess I'd be better off buying my own RZR than renting. Oh well, was still fun! read more

Super dishonest, Chaplin is the worst of them all. Machines are dirty, no maintenance at all. A friend recommended Octane Thrills to me, he previously rented a rzr from them. I spoke to Chaplin on the phone, he was very friendly and took time to explain everything in detail. What I really appreciated is the fact Chaplin was willing to drop off 2 rzrs at my house on a Friday night. Chaplin also took the time to explain how to operate the rzr's since I had not driven the models they had. I rented them for the weekend no mechanical issues what so ever. We had a great experience with Octane Thrills. First, they were very knowledgeable about the machines they had available. We rented the Polaris RZR four seater and this thing was incredible. It was brand new and super powerful. We had a bit of a drive ahead of us and we were able to pick the RZR up the night before. James went through all the paperwork with me and also helped me checked out the machine itself. Again, it was like brand new and we had no problems for the 4 days we drove it. We returned the machine and were refunded our deposit in full. I almost forgot to mention. I called around and they cost less than the other rental companies. If I could give them no stars I would! Most dishonest company I have ever been around. The machines are built to do some pretty extreme stuff with but if you get even a little dent they are going to charge you for it. And they will blame you for stuff someone else did. Why can I say? Frank and Lance hooked it up for me. My rental for Thanksgiving weekend in Glamis fell through the day before our trip. Frank managed to work a miracle and line me up with rzr for Friday through Sunday! It was my birthday weekend as well so they made my whole weekend amazing. Easy rental process and Frank was professional yet personal guy. Looking forward to check out Colorado location soon. If you are a experienced rider you will appreciate the location and trails. Desert trails are wide open, then get into canyon for tight scenic trails. Views are awesome. Ran into Frank on trail and he took time to show us cool sights. He rides so he understands the thrill. Called on a Sunday and was able to get a rental for the next two days for me and my boys. Picked it up and headed out, but unfortunately the RZR would start, but not move. I called Frank and a short time later we were off to the canyon with a newer, upgraded unit with no additional charge. This one performed flawlessly and we were able to have a great day and a half on the trails. Drop off was easy and our deposit was returned the next day. Beware of this company! Rented a turbo RZR 1000 from Frank at Mormon Lake and specifically asked him about the belt. He ensured me everything is always looked over and the machines are maintained to high standards. After going 5.6 miles the machines belt breaks and the machine can no longer be used. At this point I called Frank and asked him to come look at the machine. He drove out and looked at the machine and said he could put on a new belt because of some other issue with the machine. At this point, he towed the machine (with me driving) back to his facility. I asked about a refund since it had already been too late in the day to continue any ride. He said his mechanic would come look over the machine and he would let me know about the refund as long as everything was okay. Two hours later I received a video from Frank saying everything was good and his mechanic got the belt on with no problem. Frank informed me the belt went because of driver error. He charged me the full days rental $400.88 and the damage deposit of $1000.00. This place is running a fraudulent business and looking to scam customer. Stay away from this company, as you will regret the hassle and heartache of dealing with Frank and Octane Thrills. read more

I wrote a review detailing my entire experience, but I was unable to post it as it exceeded the character limit. The short version of this is that IF YOU RENT A MACHINE FROM FRANK, AND THAT MACHINE BREAKS DOWN, IRREGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT IT WAS ANY FAULT OF YOUR OWN, YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE YOUR DAMAGE DEPOSIT BACK. This is what the rental contract/agreement states, so RENT AT YOUR OWN RISK. I paid $480 for a rental that I was first told would be $350, and a $2000 damage deposit when the website states it is only $1000. The website for Octane makes it sound less risky than the actual rental contract, so read the whole contract! "But I'm a good driver, so nothing is going to happen to me, right?" You may tell yourself this, as I told myself, and then you find yourself out $1000, $2000, and perhaps more, when all you did was ride the machine as instructed, within normal operating limits. Tire blows out? All you. Belt frays? That's you too! Motor blows up while driving at a perfectly normal speed? You guessed it, you're not seeing a cent of that damage deposit back. I was driving the machine at normal speeds (Frank I'm sure will refute this, but I never travelled over 60 mph on a machine that will go 85-90 mph, and Frank told me he drives it 80 mph) and the motor blew up. He has a GPS in the machine and he told me I travelled 53-57 mph, which was his justification for the engine blowing up. "But my insurance/credit card benefits will cover me!" Wrong! Insurance doesn't cover a mechanical failure/manufacturer's defect, and neither my car insurance or credit card rental car benefit insurance would cover me. "But I'll buy the damage insurance!" None is offered! "I'll dispute the charge!" Nope, it says right there in the contract, you are responsible. So, if the machine breaks down, YOU WILL PAY FOR IT, whether or not you think it's your fault. Ask Frank, "what happens if the motor explodes on this machine while I'm driving it, or the belt breaks and you have to come tow it back, or the wheel falls off?" and see what he tells you. The correct answer, irregardless of what he says, is "you will be paying for it!" These machines are prone to breakdowns too, just google "Polaris RZR problems". I expect Frank to respond to this review in his usual articulate fashion, and say I drove it too fast, and I revved up the motor, and I was and am a jack*** that yelled at him and is trying to slander his company. You decide for yourself if you're willing to make a $1000-2000 bet on riding a machine that is VERY prone to breaking down (google Polaris RZR problems) and if you're willing to pay that much for what may be an hour or two of fun. As Frank told me, "no customer wants to pay for damages". I'm that guy, but only for the ones I didn't cause. There are plenty of 5 star reviews, but read all the one stars, and you will see a common theme. Again, RENT AT YOUR OWN RISK. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!! At first it seemed great, Chaplin slashed the price for me, and even delivered the 2015 Can Am Maverick to my house!!! He told me it was just serviced, ready to go. We rode for hours, and it was great...until the back driver wheel came off!!!!! Thank God we weren't driving fast at the time. I called Octane Thrills, asking if that tire had been removed in the last service. They Claimed the unit is brand new, and it has never been touched. (attempting to take the heat off their mechanic for negligence) Later on, Octane Thrills changed their story when I got a Can Am dealer involved... the dealer stated that wheels on new units should be re-torqued often. Either way, this was Octane Thrills's problem, not mine...but they tried to charge me for damages!!! This company is not honest. Problems are never their fault, and they try to find a way to get your damage deposit. read more

I wish I could say I had a great experience with Octane Thrills, however the experience I had with them was not what I feel it should have been. The first thing that happened was a miscommunication about the type of trailer I would be receiving since I had reserved two Rzr's for Presidents Day Weekend. I will take fault in not following up and clarifying the information with Chaplain however when this situation did come up the day before the Rzr's were to be picked up Chaplain was very quick to blame me that I misunderstood what he said. I had requested a trailer that would hold both Rzr's as I was taking these to Glamis and did not want to have to take a separate vehicle. It was stated that they do have access to one trailer at times and they would look into getting it for me. Per the conversation I had the day I reserved them I was under the impression that they would let me know either way. Chaplain told me I was wrong and that he said he would only let me know if he was able to get the trailer. Turns out he was not able to get the trailer which I found about it the day before I needed it, I made things work and still was moving on with the rentals as I know this was partly my fault. I did not appreciate being told that this was my fault though. The day I was supposed to pick up both Rzr's I got a call at the last minute saying that the two seater 1000 that I had rented would not be ready therefore they were working on a solution to get another machine. There first solution was another side by side 1000 however it would not have paddle tires on it. I agreed and said yes let's do that at it was very comparable to what I had already paid for and was expecting. A short time later I received another phone call saying that this option was not going to work and they had four seater 800 that I was able to take. I reluctantly agreed as I knew this machine was going to be under powered for the dunes and not perform adequately for what I was wanting to do. However this 5 o'clock on Wednesday evening and I am leaving early Thursday morning, I was out of options. The 800 was not ready to go at the original pick up time and they offered to meet me close to where I live to drop this off, all this did work out it was still almost 8:30 at night before I picked this up and was able to finish getting my things ready to go. I was told that the 800 had a slow leak in the back tire, it was not slow the tire would completely go flat with in about two hours. After I arrived at the dunes I had to remove the tire off the 800 and have it dismounted and have the bead cleaned to be able to continue to use this over the weekend, this was not the only tire issue I had. The 4 seater 1000 had an issue with one its back tires as well which the tire wound up going flat and therefore causing damage to the tire it self and did not allow it for it to hold air or be repaired. I spent the money and put new tires on this Rzr so I could continue to attempt to enjoy my weekend. However at this point the the Rzr 1000 started to have an issue with the clutch and was virtually impossible to continue to drive and take through the dunes. I had spoke with chaplain about all the issues as they came up and he seemed very reasonable even though he said they never have these kind of issues. Well clearly these issues will happen at times I guess I was the lucky one. Before we even left for the dunes once I found out about getting the 800 instead of a 1000 I asked Chaplain if I would get any price break since it was a completely different machine then I had reserved, he told me no he couldn't do that since I had already got a price break for renting two machines and it was holiday weekend. Chaplain also told me numerous times they do not have an issue renting out the machines on holiday weekends, which to me just says we really don't care what we give you as long as you pay us. After we got back Chaplain said that it was my fault the tires on the 1000 where in the shape they were and they were not responsible for that. I did ask about the clutch issue as well and if they would work with me on the 1000 since they could clearly see I was not able to drive it much since they do keep track of miles. He then proceeded to tell me no they would not do anything about it. I did not wash the machines when I gave them back partly because I was frustrated and was just ready to get home, also that the 800 was given to me in the same shape I gave it back to them. I was charged a cleaning fee for both machines which I do understand however when I mentioned to Chaplain that the 800 was the same way when I got it he told me that the renter before me was getting charged a cleaning fee as well. I did confront him and say he was double dipping then to get money for cleaning fees. He quickly told me no and that it was policy and it took man hours to clean and inspect these things, I asked him about my man hours it took and he said they are not responsible for what I had to do. read more
