I can't tell you how many times I've driven by this restaurant and never went in. Well, I changed that recently and what the heck?! Why didn't I do that sooner! This spot is nice. Like, date spot nice. It's attached to a casino, but there are no casino vibes inside. To start, we got a bottle of wine and were served their complimentary bread and spread. The spread was delicious and tasted like a liver pate. Yum! And free?! OKAY! For our meal, we ordered the short rib and the carbonara to share and it was plenty for both of us! The portions were hearty and the dishes themselves were soooo good. I would definitely order them again. Our service was impeccable and I love that they're open late. Most restaurants in the area close pretty early, especially on weekdays, so it was nice to have such a great spot for a late dinner! Ochuna is getting added to my Rosarito rotation for sure!! read more

Phenomenal service very attentive. The food was amazing Braised Short rib was great. The lamb chops were phenomenal!!! Salmon was so good my daughter ate it before I could try it. Very nice ambiance. Food was okay...probably a 7 out of 10. I had the Margareta pizza...tasted good but the crust was a little gooey in the center. We had a large group (8 ppl) so we called ahead. When we arrived we were greeted by the host and shown right to our table that was waiting for us. You can tell this is a new or renovated restaurant as soon as you sit down. The decor and lights add a special touch to it. We ordered the cheeseboard, calamari, A few salads to start -- all definitely meant to be shared. Calamari comes with and amazing sauce. I ordered the carbonara pasta. The menu notes spaghetti or fettuccine and I asked for the spaghetti and ended up with the fettuccine. Didn't send it back over a noodle, but when I took my first bite, it had a bit too much salt. The restrooms are single stalls but are also updated, clean and taken care of. Since it's connected to the Casino, there's designated parking for just the restaurant located right out front. I would definitely come back. My friends ordered the lasagna and the ribeye, both looked and smelled fantastic. read more

Ochuna is a great restaurant that is a little more upscale than most restaurants in Rosarito. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is great. You feel like you are dinning in a fancy restaurant without paying exorbitant prices for great food. I had the fettuccine with shrimp and it was great. The only reason for not giving it 5 stars is we asked our waitress for more bread during our meal and she never return. We had to go to the front to request our check and pay. read more

We just had a PHENOMENAL steak dinner here. The ambiance was extremely classy and modern. The service was excellent, and the food was cooked to perfection. It's also important to point out that they were following safety guidelines perfectly, temperature check, sanitizer, staff wearing masks properly. Ochunas was a great find. I was shocked by some of the other reviews on here. In fact if you don't like the food here, you need a new set of taste buds :). My wife and i ate here in Friday night and it was very romantic. They even have live music on Friday nights with very underrated singers. I took the tip from Bill K. on here and ordered the octopus, and its amazing. Also, I recommend the pork leg. Don't miss this gem. I highly recommend it! read more

The food is great, but unfortunately the waiter is not for this quality of restaurant, waiter needs to be better trained. The manager or owner, should keep an eye on this matter, or they will loose a lot of exclusive clientele. I heard the food was good from several friends. The main courses our group of 4 had was quite good. I had the Abierrata?? My wife had the stuffed chicken. Portions were not large by any means, but, if you weren't a pig, or a larger person, they would suffice. Why only 3 stars? The Creme Brulee was burnt, like it was supposed to be, however, it was OVER burnt and a bit runny. Also, the service, while they were attentive, did not understand English very well, making it hard to communicate what you wanted. I do understand we are in MExico, however, this restaurant I have to believe is one that caters to the large American populace down here. Unlike other restaurants here in Rosarito, they happily split the bill up, no complaints there. Thats a rarity here. read more

The quality of the food varies between three and four stars, depending mostly on the day. The bar is small but stocked with interesting things ... that only one bartender understands and he doesn't seem to be working there anymore. It's also true, as someone else mentioned here, that the oldest waiter is both venal and lazy. The younger ones (there seems to have been a high turn-over during the last year) tend to be courteous. What earns the place only two stars is the sneaky and illegal trick it uses to increase its prices by 16%. Sometime around June 2018, management began to add a "sales tax" to the checks. This is against Mexican law: every establishment is expected to include the national 16% value-added tax (IVA) in all of its published prices. Ochuna's clientele is predominantly gringo, however, and they're not likely to notice. read more

They are working on improving their service, not running out of menu items and bar offerings and except for that, I would have given them 5 stars. Don't let reviews decide for you...go enjoy for yourself. The food was some of the best I've had since moving to Baja 9 years ago. This restaurant has become a favorite of several of my friends. I give high marks to the manager, from fine dining in Mexico City, who listened patiently to our compliments AND complaints with a promise to have some of the missing items at the bar for out next visit. I've been to many restaurants that seem to specialize in steaks and other meats and, since I don't eat red meat, I end up ordering something that they are not the best at. At Ochuna, we had the Salmon and the Organic Grilled Chicken. We thought this was very basic fare. The salmon was somewhat dry and boring. The chicken was chopped up into very small pieces, with bones, then seasoned and grilled. I liked the seasoning, but much of it was dry and very difficult to get the meat off the tiny bones. Both dishes were accompanied by perfunctory, rather boring vegetables. The decor at Ochuna was much more interesting than the food: modern, rustic, non-typical. But I have no desire to go back, which is a shame since it is so convenient to our house. read more
