We were four people, four different entrees. We have never eaten here before, and as out-of-town tourists. I am so sorry that for our limited time in Beaufort, we opted for this restaurant, based on its good reviews. This is not a flattering review, and I give it two stars only because I myself tend to dismiss one-star reviews as coming from people with an axe to grind. We try to support small, local businesses, but Ocha Noodle Cafe was a waste of our money, and a wasted opportunity in Beaufort to have a satisfying meal-- so maybe I do have an axe to grind given my disappointment, and even anger about how far two of the four dishes were so disliked to the point of no one wanting to eat them for next-day leftovers. Of the four entrees, only one was good-- the flat noodles with broccoli. The calamari was okay. The larb was awful-- it was very salty and the umami flavor was so strong that it crossed the border from flavorful to smelling as though it had started to turn, although it didn't taste off. However, once we were aware of the off-putting pungent odor, all of us lost the desire to eat it. Most of it was thrown out. The Singapore noodles (see pic) were awful and nothing at all like the way Singapore noodles should be. This dish seemed to be made from cut up bits of spaghetti, which has been overcooked-- the noodles were soft and mushy, in a salty, greasy, and slimy sauce. Most of it was thrown out. The waiter, who smiled only when directly facing us, got the orders correct, and didn't let the water glasses go dry. read more

Ordered Tonkutsu with chicken absolutely bland, chicken looked to be pulled off a boiled chicken breast. It had several quail eggs in it... menu did not list soy sauce marinated quail eggs in this soup. The noodles were the texture of basic 25€ noodles from Food Lion. They were al dente, not softened at all. I am all for supporting local businesses this just wasn't pleasing at all. Sara seemed to be annoyed with many people coming in at 630pm. The younger girl ( didn't catch her name) was very sweet and helpful. I always give establishments two try's before I don't return. Excellent food and service. Our server was knowledgeable and provided insight to the menu, substitution ideas, fan favorites, etc. I loved the Suki Yaki noodle bowl. It was so delicious! My husband loved his Thai style fried Suki (noodle plate). Both of ours were spicy-but in a delicious way! I had have the milk tea and loved it as well. The restaurant is in a small strip mall, next to a barbershop. We'd driven by several times and seen a steady flow of customers. Friends said it was hot or miss as far as quality. Here to say that today was a "hit"--so much so that we've craved it all this week since eating there. We'll definitely go back! read more

The food here is average, and the hours of operation are ridiculous. Good luck coming here and catching them open. Not worth the gamble.

This noodle place in an anonymous shopping center not on the water seems fairly Pan-Asian, and does offer some vegetarian options. However, they are limited to a few appetizers and the "vegan noodles", so I didn't get any sense of the variety of flavors on offer. The vegan noodles (also apparently gluten-free just to make sure all their bases are covered), came out with some crisp stir-fried vegetables and some tofu, but were pretty unexciting in flavor. The good news is that when they asked if I wanted hot sauce, I said yes and was treated to one of those trays with a mix of chili-garlic oil, sweet chili sauce, jalapeno something or other, and straight dried chili. These enhanced the experienced. I added some dumplings which were fried (no option for steaming things I guess) and a taro bubble tea that provided a nice contrasting flavor. In doing so, I pretty much sampled most of what they had for me. It was good, not good enough that I'd drive an hour from Charleston for noodles, but if you're in the area it's worth a stop. read more

Disclaimer: Beaufort is death to all foodies. All 4 star reviews are really 3 stars at best in areas that have any sense of taste. For military folk, this place is like Yuma, AZ. You have to leave outside of a 30 mile radius to get anything of quality. With that being said, Ocha Noodle Cafe isn't too bad. I stick with the Hokkien Noodles to be safe, though I used to order the Crispy Pork (I can't bring myself to spend $18 on a dish that is sometimes great but other times dry). The boba isn't bad, and also reasonably priced for being one of few locations that have it in Beaufort. I ordered the Chinese broccoli as a side, but for $6, if you think that you'd get more than 4 stems, you're wrong. If you want Asian style cuisine of decent quality, this is your place. This place was pretty good, especially on a cold and windy day! We ordered the special, which was a crispy basil pork dish. We also ordered the Ocha noodle soup. The Ocha noodle soup was soooooo good. The broth was very interesting. It had a sweetness to it, and I loved it! It is a giant noodle bowl so be prepared to take home leftovers. The Crispy pork dish was very good as well. However, it was $20 and the portion was small. The dish was mostly a heaping scoop of rice. Don't get the Shrimp Tempura Ramen. The "Shrimp Tempura" is an additional $3, and just miniature fried shrimp tails. Ramen noodles were extremely doughy. We recently found this place here on Yelp and decided to give it a try. We have now been several times and enjoy it. I grew up in an Okinawan/Japanese household and while this isn't exactly traditional Ramen it was delicious all the same. One of the most important things I look for in any good Ramen is their quality of broth and this restaurant does not disappoint. Their service is always great. In town for the Marine Corps graduation & chose this spot for dinner because of its rating. Was very disappointed by my experience.. Food was pretty disappointing.. We had crab rangoon for apps.. I had the beef pho & my company had a combo pho & a ramen. We also shared the Ocha delight because it seemed like their special. The rangoon tasted strange.. I can't quite put a finger on it but the cream cheese wasn't really refreshing & strange is the best way I can put it. The pho broths were pretty strong while the ramen broth, on the other hand, was completely bland - my friend who owns a restaurant - was curious whether the chef had forgotten to put in the seasoning. The beef in the pho was also like cardboard. The Ocha delight was also underwhelming with poorly made rice & over seasoned & overcooked meat. Additionally, they seem to run out of menu items quite often as the server had to check if they had a few things we asked for (& they actually didn't). I finally found good Chinese in the area! Small place with about 20 tables that smells divine. I ordered basic dishes, spring rolls, pork and shrimp dumplings and spicy noodles with chicken. Spring rolls. Crisp but not greasy, reasonable amount of filling, served with duck sauce. Dumplings. Steamed, reasonable amount of filling, good flavor. Served with a sauce that's a mixture of soy and mirin with a touch of garlic. Spicy noodles. Touch too much heat for me, but not overpowering. I will ask for a little less heat next time. I arrive and over an hour later they said they couldn't find the ticket, let me add that I was standing at the counter for 15 and no one addressed me so I got the cashiers attention, she then gave me an excuse that the ticket didn't send or it was lost. Couldn't have been much happier for our first visit to this new AND WELCOME addition to Beaufort. The crispy pork and rice was the star of the show. In my opinion the rice alone was a little lonely in flavor. The ginger sauce did assist. But, it could have used perhaps some diced onion or a little egg mixed in. I just left the restaurant and returned back to my hotel. I ordered the wonton noodle soup and the Chinese broccoli which was cold and the soup was barely warm. Food is okay. Definitely not worth the over priced menu and the customer service is the worst! I ordered for pick up. When I arrived there, it took a few minutes before someone acknowledged me. They even answered the phone to take an order in front of me. Someone finally helped me. I placed my order and stood and than sat down next to the chairs by the ordering counter. After over 30 minutes went by, I finally asked how much longer? I told her my name and my bag was sitting on the counter. So I've actually been ordering from here regularly for a few years now, via Door Dash. I travel to Beaufort for work once every other month and I always look forward to pho or ramen or wonton noodle soup from Ocha Noodle Cafe! Tonight, I ordered from them via Door Dash. An hour and a half later, I got a notification that my driver ran into an issue and my order was cancelled. I was so bummed! I called Ocha Noodle and explained my situation. The girl said they had put my order together and somebody picked it up. Frustrated, I asked her if I could place a new order. She said yes of course! She was super apologetic and sweet, and it wasn't even her fault! I really appreciated that. I drove over there to get my order and she was super nice and apologized again. I thought that was so nice, considering the issue had nothing to do with the establishment. Love the food here and love the service even more! My husband ordered Tom yum noodle soup and I had pho noodle soup. It was very good both of them especially Tom yum noodle soup. Very delicious broth. I wanted give five stars but it was over priced with everything including the drinks. Also I ordered matcha milk tea it was very thin. tea potions are not right to me. and the matcha they used which was not green color and doesn't taste matcha. Starbucks is better than this. read more
