When I moved from Arizona back to Maine in 2009 one of the most heartbreaking things was having to…read moresell my cherished koi due to them being illegal in Maine. So when my wife and I moved to Fallbrook in 2013 imagine my delight when we drove by Mr. Adachi's business. So I came on here to look up that great Koi farm I used to stop by when I lived in Fallbrook and was pretty astounded to see the terrible review here. My experiences with Mr. Adachi couldn't possibly be more of a polar opposite. I found him to be a wealth of knowledge, I found his koi to be immaculate and the ginrin shiro utsuri I purchased from him was one of the most beautiful things I had ever laid eyes on, a true gem, and as healthy as can be. I agree wholeheartedly that every koi enthusiast, new and old should check out all of the suppliers and importers they have access to, ask them questions and be as selective as possible when picking your fish. Trust me, you'll want to buy them ALL but Takemi will be the first one to tell you it's better to have one or two perfect fish than to pack in as many as will fit and struggle with filtration and water quality issues. I couldn't possibly recommend California Koi Farms Inc. any more, so when you're doing your rounds be sure not to skip this stop. You'd normally have to fly to Niigata to stand next to someone who knows as much about keeping perfect water and top quality fish and have a chat. I'm rather certain you won't be disappointed.

Extremely knowledgeable and polite husband and wife team…read more I inherited my koi pond when I bought my new house. After a year, I felt pretty good about my abilities with the koi and keeping the water clean so I decided to add a couple of new small ones to the pond. I had visited California Koi a few times in the past to look at their inventory and speak with the owner so I felt comfortable and confident with their fish. Like a thousand other novices before me, I didn't quarantine the fish before putting them in my pond. 3 days later one my 30" koi was dead. The others were flashing or just sitting at the bottom of the pond in isolation with fins clamped. I went back to California Koi and spoke with the owner. He recommended a product for me to try (MinFin) so I bought it ($80) and applied it that day. It didn't work. I went back to his business again the following day to seek further advice but he wasn't there. I decided to wait. While I waited, I observed his show tanks. Now that I knew what to look for I saw that all of his fish were exhibiting the same symptoms my fish were displaying. I pointed this out to his wife and she agreed that their fish were sick and needed to be treated. She asked that I leave my number so that her husband could call me to discuss treatment options. He never called and I found a new dealer to purchase medication to fix the problem (costia). I used Terminate ($25) and salt baths to rid the pond, but after 6 weeks my fish were flashing again. Now I just finished applying Proform-C in hopes that it will clear up the issues. All of this because California Koi's fish are infected and I didn't properly quarantine. But my biggest reason for the one star is because they KNOW their fish are dirty and infected and still sell them to the uninitiated like me. After having visited several other dealers since all of this began, I now know that California Koi has the lowest standard of fish keeping. If you are new to this, I highly recommend visiting at least one other dealer in person before making a purchase from California Koi. You will see that California Koi is not up to the industry standard.

A beautiful wildlife preservation site where you can enjoy animal encounters with exotic animals!…read more - PARKING - We parked on the hill past the entrance of the business, and walked down. Pretty steep but it's a short walk. - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - Book your visit online! There are group rates and additional attendee rates, so just make sure you have the right count of people! Staff was very friendly from start to finish, and I loved seeing the enthusiasm shine through their work. It's not a huge site, so not a ton of walking involved, but there are some steps if you're worried about accessibility. Make sure to wear closed toed shoes! - EXPERIENCE - We booked a Wallaby encounter, and initially I thought it was only going to be a single animal experience but I was pleasantly surprised we were taken on a tour around the area! We did get to feed and pet the Wallaby, but we also walked to see all the different animals in captivity. They also brought out some animals for us to pet and see up close! - OVERALL - A wonderful wildlife preservation site, and amazing staff to take care of them all!

We spent our anniversary here for their Sip & Paint event. Great different wines to sip and snacks…read moreto snack on. Great staff. And we had a blast! Great group of attending people too, had a lot of laughs together. The painting teacher walks you through the techniques so even though I'm not even good at stick figures, I didn't do that bad! My cheetah looks more like a racoon, but that's ok ha. Mine is on the right & my wife's on the left.

Family made the trek from OC on a Sunday morning for the 10 am slot. Reservations were easy to make…read morethe night before. I noticed person were able to go in without reservations at the check in counter but maybe that was for slow time slots. Farm offers two sizes but we opted for the large tubs. They tell you how much to fill without over filling aka being charged extra. People were mad filling but I guess it's a gamble. We only stayed for about 45 min but time slots were for 1.5 hours. No shade so be sure to bring a hat and water. Small food truck offering drink and snacks. Small sundries shop as well. I didn't see any restroom facilities and it's not a major exit off the freeway so come prepared.

Our kids' school is organizing a trip here, so parents are required to attend--and unfortunately,…read morethe experience with reservations has been frustrating. They require payment in advance, but the system doesn't work properly. I tried booking for 3 people and it only charged for 1. I tried again for 2 people, and it still only charged for 1. It's confusing and unreliable. If you're going to require paid reservations--especially for school groups--please make sure your system works correctly. On top of that, parking is a nightmare. There aren't enough spots, which makes the whole process even more stressful when you're trying to coordinate with a school group and young kids.
