Every employee from OceanHead Solar was incredible to work with. The crew was courteous, professional, efficient and all worked well together. Through the blistering heat, these guys just kept plugging along! Not wanting to hover over them, I did sneak a couple of peaks at the wiring inside of the various boxes all neatly arranged along my wall and I must say - their wiring work is beautiful! If you are in the market for solar, I would highly recommend giving OceanHead Solar a call! read more

This company defends the ripping off customers, with exuberantly high quotes on equipment that does not even cost close to that. They are inappropriately a company that should be in Hawaii. I chose not to deal with this company any longer because they are dishonest. this is 100% truth. read more

I contacted OceanHead in July 2025 after a dealing with another, larger solar company for over a year. Deadline to get solar installed for the tax credit was 31 December and the previous solar company was not proactive in the least. Mark from OceanHead came out, inspected our property, and said his company could get the job done and operational well before the deadline. We did a change of contractor and in just 2 months OceanHead got HOA and HECO approval and installed the system at a lower cost and higher wattage than the previous solar company proposed. Very fast turn around, excellent communication, and no issues whatsoever with our system (14 panels, Tesla Powerwall and level 2 charger). read more

This is/was a great company to work with when it came to a seamless installation of our solar panels. When working with my elder parents (96 and 89), John was so patient and answered every question in layman's term vice using technical terms to answer all their concerns. Not only did he explain what they will do, step by step, he ensured us that the company would take care of all the paperwork when it came to HECO and our home association. The installers were all professional and friendly. Even after the installation, the Oceanhead team has been responsive to any follow-up questions we had when it came to the solar panels. I HIGHLY recommend OceanHead Solar & Electric for your solar needs. read more

Loved working with this local company. I bought and installed my solar system through OceanHead Solar and couldn't be happier with the results. They maintained professionalism throughout. I worked with John Yeh in the beginning who really took the time to explain how things would go step by step. I'm very thankful for such a hardworking team! Mahalo! read more

We were selling our home and the buyer's inspector found issues with an inverter and panel optimizers. We needed to close on time due to the sale being a contingency on a purchase of our new home. OceanHead jumped through hoops to get everything working, plus dealing with SolarEdge's warranty and shipping departments for us to get the new inverter and the parts we needed. They really came through for us. read more

Fast and efficient service from the whole staff at Oceanhead Solar and Electric ! Would highly recommend this to all my friends and family.

We would recommend OceanHead Solar & Electric over and over again. We were apprehensive at first but John Yeh met with us promptly to explain the process and answer all questions. He took care of all the paperwork with HECO and our home association. Gail and Michelle worked with us to get what we expected from a solar system, even though we really didnt know. They worked with us to position the batteries where we thought was best for weather. They set us up to have power IN the house through an outage (we learned this is not automatic, so ask up front). They showed up on site to check on the progress and final product. Michelle actually inspects their work and applies the stickers! The electricians and installers were professional, friendly, and good at what they do. The pipes and lines are clean and neat. Though it rained, they worked safe to get our system up and running. Sorry so long, but one last thing... we contacted five solar companies before deciding on Oceanhead. They were tops in response time, communication, reliability, listening to our needs, knowing our community, and Price! ($20,000 less than some of the others) God BLESSED!!! read more

If you insist on doing business with top notch, reliable and friendly professionals this is your place. I sent an email requesting information about repair / maintenance of my PV system and to my surprise received a call back within minutes. I have also worked with John Yeh (Business Development Manager) before and can tell you that his word is gold, he returns emails, texts and phone calls within minutes (not hours) and you will find him to be as knowledgeable, honest and friendly a professional as you'll ever work with. I also spoke with Chelli and like John, she was the consummate professional and responds very quickly. Highly recommended! read more

I worked with Chelli and gave her the information I wanted, she was very professional and caring.  She provided me with my needs and didn't try to oversell me.   After the installation, she kept checking on me to make sure I understood the website correctly.  When she noticed an error from Generac, she quickly contacted them to correct it.  After our conversation, she wanted to follow up in 30 days to make sure everything was to my satisfaction. Their installation team was very professional and did a great job. I highly recommend  their services. read more

Last year my wife and I didn't think we were quite ready to install solar yet. However we met Gail @ the BIA show and she gave us a thorough overview of its benefits and the OceanHead business. Eventually, after doing lots of additional research into solar products, costs, financing, and other solar installers we decided on her team to install an 18 panel system onto our brand new roof. The team worked and communicated well with us throughout the process. They provided timely responses and followed through in all aspects of the project planning through close-out. The installation was well coordinated and aesthetically compliments our roof line. The system is installed directly onto an open beam ceiling, so the installers were very cautious to insure the rack was anchored only into the beams. They also provided a waterproof sealing system that gave us confidence. The system has wireless communication which allows us to monitor the energy production on the web. So far its working well and I am certain that if any problems come up in the future Gail and her team will make it right. I definitely recommend them and will try to contract other work with them again. read more

Gail and her team put in 2 surface mounted ceiling fans in my apartment. Last summer was killing me so I knew I had to get it done and I was worried that it was a.) going to make me miss a lot of work b.) going to break the bank. I was going to try to do some of the work myself but when it comes to electricity, I'm going to keep all my hair in place and leave it to the professionals. Luckily Gail and her electrician came in and took care of everything. I got a consultation first: Gail was kind enough to meet me after I finished work and we discussed what needed to be done, what could be done and any anticipated problems. It was very friendly and professional. She even did a bonus look at what I might want to do in the future. The next couple of days the electrician came in and installed 2 ceiling fans, did some electrical work for me and removed a light fixture. When there was an electrical issue (which in these old Honolulu buildings, is totally expected) I was presented with all the options and although I got a recommendation on what was the most popular or most common approach, I made the final decision. I missed a total of one day of work. All the work continued on in a professional manner when I went to the office. I just let the electrician in during the morning and received a text message upon departure. I didn't lifted a finger, everything I wanted was completed. The work was professional and all my expectations met. I was extremely pleased when the final bill came in and it didn't break the bank. I was even happier when those hurricanes came through with that hot humid weather- fans were sold out everywhere, but mine were already installed. Thanks for everything OceanHead Solar!! read more

Wooohooo... we just got our solar panels(PV System) installed. I looked at several companies and made my final decision to go with Ocean Head Solar & Electric based on the cost. From the beginning our consultant John Yeh was awesome. Never did I feel rushed or pressured into buying anything. John explained the process very thoroughly. He got us the approval through HECO & our association in a timely manner. Gail and the staff were on top of things. They were able to start half a day earlier and finished on time. Their staff arrived on time and did an awesome job with the installation. We are so excited!! Thank you John, Gail & everyone at Ocean Head Solar.. oh and thank you ASB for approving our loan!! God bless you all.. read more

Ok, called them to get an estimate for having a c-wire installed on our Nest thermostat. Their ad says they work on AC as well as electrical. The lady on the phone could not have been more unwelcoming! Wanted to send someone to my house for a minimum charge of $200 just to look at it, but not do anything. Excuse me? Then she says, "you know we are electricians, right?" Um, yeah, but your ad specifically says AC. To which she replies, "yeah, we sell it, but we don't usually maintenance." Um, your ad says you do... Seriously? read more

I would like thank Gail at Ocean Head Electric and Solar for rectifying the situation with my drywall and her problem employee. Gail went above and beyond and sent out a drywall expert to patch, texture match and paint accidental damage done by one of her employees. She also assured me that one of her other problem employees are no long with the company. Thanks Gail for going above and beyond!! read more

Disclaimer: This is a review for a ceiling fan installation they performed, not involving solar panels. I hired this company to install 4 ceiling fans I had purchased. They quoted me 600-800 for the job and that it would take a day to complete after coming to my home and surveying the installation, less if I helped the electrician pre-assemble the fans. The electrician they sent was very friendly and professional but slow. Since they only charge by the hour, I tried to help out as much as possible with the installation. I even drove to Home Depot to buy supplies I that he did not account for in the original estimate. By the time everything was said and done, it took 2 full days to finish, I personally spent 8 hours of my own time assisting with the installation and cleaning after it was done, and i was charged $1,200 even after a price reduction for the job. I am rating 2 stars on the inability to complete a proper estimate for labor and supplies, as well as poor customer service when attempting to sort out the final billing. read more
