Started going there about mid February, then was going home for the summer and forgot to cancel it before I left. Turns out you can't cancel your membership over the phone, which is annoying but understandable. So I sent the letter around the beginning of May. Ended up getting charged $27 for an "annual" fee even though I had it for 3 months and also had to pay for the entire month of June even though I hadn't gone once in May. Overall, liked going there but basically ended up paying almost $40 to cancel a $10 monthly membership. Won't be going back. read more

Your average tanning salon. Their prices are typical for what they have to offer. The staff has always been knowledgeable and courteous to me. They have plenty of beds, and they leave the cleaning supplies in the room. Even though I hope they are always cleaning the beds after each person, I like that they are there so I can clean it for myself. They take walk-ins which is a plus, and there is usually not too long of a wait. I do have to agree with another reviewer about putting flyers on all the cars in the parking lot. I have been coming here for years & for some reason I decided to go to a different place for a spray tan (big mistake) ocean tans has the updated spray tan machine so the tan comes out WAY more even & natural! Especially considering they constantly have bogo spray tans (2 for $25) where as the other place I went charged me almost $40 for a single spray tan that turned out super patchy. Sold me a bogus upgrade package when I arrived for my promotional week. Then when I came back to use my sessions they said I had to buy a package to use the upgrade. What? Made no sense at all. No apology, no refund offered. Complete rip off. read more

I got a spray tan here recently and it was pretty bad. I didn't look orange thankfully BUT my hands were sooooo cracked and patchy the next day. I would maybe go somewhere else if you're looking for a good spray tan. (And yes I used barrier cream) read more

I have used Ocean Tans for the past few years while living in the area. They have good deals on their spray tans ($5 on Thursdays most of the time). This past year, I bought a membership for their tannings beds. When I went to cancel my membership because I was moving, they let me know that I would still be charged for the next two months even though I cancelled it and would not physically be able to use the membership. You can't cancel your membership before the first billing period, and then after that it still has to be 30 days before the next billing period. Because I started my membership in the middle of April, they couldn't/refused to cancel my membership until after May 1st (for no actual reason other than the fact that it's a "rule"), thus, conveniently, making it not in time for the 30 day rule, causing me to also get charged for all of June. This is completely ridiculous, and obviously a rule their corporate offices put in place to scam people out of money. There's no reason someone who cancels their membership in April should still get charged for two full months after that. This is a horrible way to run your business. I ended up having to cancel the card the membership was on. I'll never go to Ocean Tans again or recommend them to anyone. Go across the street to South Beach. Edit - I'd also like to add that the manager on duty while I cancelled my membership (you HAVE to cancel with a manager - more rules to make it harder for you to cancel) was EXTREMELY rude. She could tell I was visibly upset and was very rude to me and made no effort to be polite at all. She showed no tact or professionalism whatsoever, I can't believe she is even a manager. As for the rest of the staff there, most of them are nice and will answer questions for you when you ask them. However, for a tanning bed place where you are dealing with potentially permanently damaging machinery, they should be more thorough in making sure that you're choosing the right type of bed/amount of time. Luckily, I've used tannings beds before so I know what I'm doing, but if I hadn't, they would have let me do whatever time I wanted without any guidance at all. They should definitely go out of their way to ask if you're first time tanning, what the recommended times in the bed are for your hair color/complexion, instructions on how to use the bed, etc. At the very least, they could definitely try to be more helpful in general, even with the spray tans. SAFETY - The first time I used the bed, they never had me sign a liability waiver or checked my age at all. Also, I only got checked for my eye-ware about 10% of the time. read more

Ive been trying to cancel my membership for 4 months now AND I CONTINUE TO BE CHARGED. I called numerous times and sent a letter to the corporate office to cancel my membership but they STILL haven't. I'm currently over 1500 miles away so I can't cancel in person. This place is nasty! Looks nice til u get ina best && have to go to the hospital bc the beds were not cleaned properly! The place is a little messy when you walk in, but they make it really easy to sign up for whatever you want to. They explain everything thoroughly so you know exactly what is available when you sign up and the rooms themselves are clean. They also have glasses, lotion, stickers, etc. available in the front for purchase if you need/ want it. read more

Absolutely disgusting! Filthy dirty! Ants all over the place. Watched people leave and they never clean anything, put someone else in, ugh, disgusting! Girls who think their chit don't stink. Heard them saying how stupid we are for paying for tanning and living in Florida. Really? And stop putting flyers all over cars in parking lots. In the rain they stick. I like this salon. It's affordable & they're fast & good with keeping up with the constant customers coming through the door. They also give u good knowledge when asking about a product & their experience with the lotions because they're required to try them so they obviously tan therefor idk what that previous remark is all about when they speak of making fun of people who tan in FL. I've also seen them clean the beds every time. They have great deals every day & I would know because I am in their text group that sends out what the special is for that day so if u like deals & a decently priced place to tan I would recommend this tanning salon. read more

So it's a good place, I've been going there for about 2 years now& have a membership with them. I am 16 and when you are a minor your parents has to sign a consent which makes sense& when you're under 16 a parent has to be with you which also makes sense. However I went to tan today& they said I couldn't because my parents signed the waiver in 2013?? WHAT ??!! My parents would never let me tan at the age of 12 the waiver was signed in 2015 !! But since it was signed "5 years ago" I couldn't tan even though I tanned here literally last week without a problem. This was a new girl that I've never seen before maybe that's why? Most the other girls know me by now but the fact that I wasn't allowed to tan even though myself is a member they take money out of MY account not my parents& I couldn't even tan ?? How weird.. Not to name drop but I started out going to South Beach because it's closer to where I live. Just about every employee there looked like they haven't smiled in years, I hate when the person who's supposed to greet you looks annoyed that you're there. Anyway.. I tried out Ocean Tan even though it's several miles further and I wish I knew her name but as soon as I walked in she was happy to tell me about promotions, walked me to my bed, let me know how everything worked. And she still does because I still go back there! This will be the only tanning salon I go to from now on :) read more

Never had an issue with the staff, but their corporate level team is terrible. When trying to cancel they don't tell you that you have to mail your cancellation to NY 30 days in advanced. They never returned my calls or emails and continued to charge me after I cancelled. The salon was OK but the beds were not great. I prefer standup and some of the machines were very shakey and kind of scary! Would not recommend this salon! read more

This place is absolutely terrible. After being a loyal customer for 2+ years i decided to cancel my membership because I am moving back home from school. To cancel your membership you need to physically write a letter to an address somewhere in New York and you have to make sure you meet every requirement to get your membership canceled. Like you can't just call and have them remove your name and identity off of the file? This is an obvious way to collect there monthy dues through a complicated process so you get suckered into paying each month. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. Employees are not helpful whatsoever and don't easily explain what you're signing up for as a way for them to get more money. I tried to cancel my account simply because I don't want to tan anymore and I had to wait about an hour just to get help. Even when I first started tanning there the specific employees I faced did not explain how to use the beds at all. Do not recommend. First of all, the manager is NEVER there so if you want to freeze your account, cancel the membership or anything that involves her you have to stop by 3-5 different times until she's actually there. The employees are not qualified to do anything so they are honestly useless. Other than the actually tanning beds ocean tans is terrible. read more
