I had to make an emergency appointment with an opthamologist after my lash appointment with spa bar because I am leaving for my wedding tomorrow. I told the doctor I felt some extra burning in that corner while getting them done and the specialist told me the lash tech either scratched my eye or got some of the chemicals in my eyeball that damaged the surface of my eye. I called and asked to speak to a manager (to hopefully get a refund for the extra $25 she charged me for the style I wanted and the $25 I tipped her) but the manager was unavailable and the front desk totally brushed me off saying the doctor was probably wrong and burning was normal. Burning can be normal, but when a specialist tells you that you've damaged someone's eye, accountability is expected. Don't go here unless you want an extra charge for style, and then have to pay $94 at the eye doctor after they damage your eyeball.

Most importantly though, you can still reliably get a killer manicure and pedicure here. The attention to detail and level of care given is incredible. When I got to meet Amy, she explained the options they had and then compared that to what I wanted, which was ultimately longer lasting shine/polish on my natural nails. She suggested a newer type of gel, Builder Gel and that's what I got. I never had luck with regular gel polish since it always lifts. The nail salon looks clean to me but some of the waiting chairs could be updated since there was some peeling to it. There was TV but no noise and relatively quiet ish the time i was there. Back to the service, Amy was fantastic! She was thorough and my nails still looks great. I am already planning to see if i can extend by refilling the builder gel since she recommended it last time. (Although the colors right now are a bit limited to neutrals, i think). All in, the service it self was $60.

There was also confusion surrounding the pricing, and I was charged for additional services that had not been clearly explained to me beforehand. The main reason I originally left a one-star review was the quality of the finished nails. Within less than 24 hours, three nails had broken, and several others were already smudged. At the time, I was extremely upset because I had spent both time and money on a service that did not even last one full day. Looking back now, I probably would have worded my original review less emotionally, but the concerns themselves were valid. The communication about pricing should have been clearer, and professionally done nails should not have broken or smudged so quickly. According to the overall five of the place, it just seemed your stereotypical expectation of a nice nail salon. Because this visit happened many years ago, I cannot speak to the salon's current staff, service, or quality. I have been wanting (semi) permanent eyeliner for years and was really excited to finally get it done. The procedure itself was virtually painless. There were only a couple of times on the lower lids that it felt pokey. Otherwise it was fine and just felt like someone was moving my lashes around. I followed the care instructions to the letter but when it was time for the touch-up (included in the price to even out anything that healed wonky) there was nothing there. I looked as though I never had the procedure done. For a few days after the procedure I woke up looking like I had slept with mascara on. I sleep on my back so this wasn't a pillow rubbing or anything. They told me it sometimes happen and that we would try again and I would still be able to get the touch up later at no additional charge. So, we tried again. My technician asked for assistance from another towards the end and they adjusted the needle depth. The upper lid felt the same as the first time but the lower lid was considerably more uncomfortable toward the outer corners. The lines looked different than the first time and I did not experience any "smudging" this time. I was very excited and hopeful for success. Unfortunately, it still didn't hold. When I went back in to see what could be done and if I could get my money back and I was told no that there are no guarantees and no refunds. My paperwork does say there are no guarantees but no where does it suggest that I might end up walking away with nothing. It talks about swelling, bruising, pigment irregularity and fading (in spots or over time), lash loss, corneal abrasion and infection but not one word about it not staying at all. In the end, they offered me a facial as a consolation which, I suppose, is better than nothing. Be aware that this is possible before you sign on the dotted line and put your money down. What are percentages? Idk...but know that it is possible and it does not matter if you are light or dark skinned. All that said, I am very much looking forward to my facial. :)
