My longtime mechanic had retired, and I wasn't sure where to go next until I discovered D&G Auto Repair on Yelp! In August 2025, I brought my car in for brake service (pads and rotors replacement). From the very beginning, I felt I was in good hands. Paulo, the manager, responded to my Yelp inquiry almost immediately. He was professional, kind, and attentive. He listened carefully to my concerns and explained everything in a clear, respectful way, something I truly appreciate. I felt a strong sense of trust that he genuinely cared about my car and my safety. When I arrived at the shop, Paulo was just as professional and kind in person. He made me feel confident in my choice to use to D&G Auto Repair. After I left my car, he followed up via text with an estimated bill before starting any work, which gave me peace of mind and control over the process. The shop itself is small but clearly run by expert technicians, and the waiting room is clean and comfortable, a nice bonus! I returned yesterday with a question about a noise I'd heard. Tony, one of the technicians, came out and personally walked around my car with me. He pointed out how clean it looked and even asked about repairs I had done elsewhere. He gave me a mini lesson on body repair which was surprisingly enlightening. He then gave me directions to the nearest Auto Parts store and Car Wash. That kind of extra care is rare and so appreciated. The staff were incredibly prompt, professional, and polite. The service prices were reasonable and they easily allowed the use of company coupons. They also offered a free car wash coupon which was a nice bonus. This Valvoline express is also on the the same property as the triple play car wash and gas station so this is a one stop shop for all of your basic car needs. I would highly recommend this business to others.

In my last oil change I believe one of the guys broke my oil dipstick tube. I remember one guy…read morelooking at the other with a "oh shit" look but nothing was said. A week or 2 later, I hear a tapping sound from my engine. I spent days trying to figure it out. Come to find out it's my metal oil dipstick tube, tapping on something else metal when the engine is running. I go for my new oil change & mention it.....basically looking for an apology. The first guy without looking at it said it's rusty & happens a lot on these cars. Second guy actually looks at it & says it's metal, we couldn't have broke this. It's a 12yr old expedition that I do the maintenance myself, just not oil changes.....so I know the truck well. Be careful......they'll break something on your car, won't say anything. Before they look at it, says it's rusty. Have another guy look at it & say we couldn't have done this. Everything but an apology & a discounted oil change. I've been going there for over 15 years, take all my cars there. I have to go another one now!!!!!!!

My family has been using Shaw's Garage for, geez, I guess 35 years or more. My parents started…read moregoing there when they were having this weird problem with their Chevy. My sister was dating someone who worked at the garage at the time, so they decided to give them a try. The Chevy would randomly stall when braking on a highway on-ramp, or making a right hand turn. They had had it to the Chevy dealer a few times to no avail. The mechanic at Shaw's diagnosed the issue as an electrical short in the driver-side rear tail lamp -- I know, right? -- charged them for his labor (an hour or two as I recall), and we've been going there ever since. BTW, the Chevy never stalled again. The place has been in business at the same location for a wicked long time, so it ain't pretty, but it is clean (as a garage that old can be), and the people there are great, treat you fairly, and know their stuff. I've never had an issue with them, or had anyone I recommended to them have a bad experience either. For example: I had this contracted consultant on my team at work for a short assignment. She was not from the area, but was having issues with her Nissan. She brought it to a local Nissan dealer and they told her she had two problems and gave her an estimate of close to $2,000 to repair it. I was hesitant when she told me about it (frankly, she was a pain in the arse), but I recommended she go to Shaw's. She told me that Jim Shaw looked at her car and gave her an estimate of about $600 to fix one of her problems. When she asked about the other issue, Jim told her it would be about an addition $1,000, but she didn't need it. Thinking the Nissan dealer knew better, she told Jim to just go ahead and fix both issues. She told me that she was shocked when Jim told her "No," that he wouldn't "fix something that didn't need fixing." She went ahead with the one $600 repair and drove away happy, with her car running great. I'm writing this because my son is now buying his first car, and it had me thinking about how Shaw's has kept the beater that we bought for him years ago going with minimal pain to my wallet. These days it seems I have to fight a battle anytime I make a sizeable purchase, or hire someone to do work for me -- just to get what's due to me. You gotta love a place like this; one that you can really depend on to do a good job and treat you fairly, without the hassle.

Well after my car was there over night I pick it up later that afternoon and was told he reset the codes and there is nothing wrong and they took it for a ride and there was no shaking. Well not even 24 hrs later the lights are back on and it's still shaking... if they did not want to properly fix my suv I wish they would of said that right off the bat and I would not of even pulled into the lot.
