She had…read morehorrible bedside manner, never assessed and my strength or range upon first working with her. I had never been to an osteopath before so had no sense of what to expect. Her treatments were incredibly painful. She would talk at me for entire visits. I always marked that I had severe pain at night on my intake form, and she never explored the quality of my pain when I would tell her upon beginning the visit that I was still in a lot of pain. Her arrogance around her treatment and belief that her treatments for working without doing any type of assessment was astounding, but honestly, naïvely, I trusted her because I had heard good things from other people, and I had no experience with osteopathy before. About six months in, I got incredibly frustrated, and finally pushed the subject of my pain and why it was not decreasing at all. at that point she finally did an assessment and ordered an MRI, and I looked for a new doctor! The great irony is often she would lecture me on how Western medical doctors don't do enough assessment, when it was clear that her own ego is getting in the way from providing really compassionate care, the kind that actually helps you get to the root of the problem before developing a treatment plan.

Dr. Hawk was my primary care physician from when he was working out of a physical therapy, rehab clinic. Back then Dr. Hawk would personally meet and greet you and he had a genuine connection with his patients. I guess now his clinic has increased in clients but decreased in service,in my opinion... There is no longer a one on one visit with Dr. Hawk and that's rather unfortunate. My phone call today to the clinic was rather uncomfortable. I felt very judged and in someway it was like I was being scolded like I was a five your old child. I guess the morning coffee didn't kick in for some even though it was nearly noon. It's so much more than just the basic medical tests. It's the "How are you feeling?" And focus on overall health and wellness without judgment that keeps me coming backs.
