First of all whoever is in charge of answering the phones is honestly the worst customer service person you can have in that role . The fact that she refused to had me to a manger and or the owner Khelvin is ridiculous. I paid for my mom to come and get a pedicure and a full set of dip nails and the lady doing her pedicure didn't clean off the dead skin off of her heels didn't put lotion and or even massage her legs after , and then for her hands asked for a ombré COFFIN shape and ended up with half ass nails that are ALLL different shapes and not even the correct color she wanted . When my mom voiced that she wanted lotion and a massage for her pedicure the person doing it started the massage chair instead of listening to what she said . MIND YOU WHOEVER WAS THERE LAST NIGHT WATCH BACK THE CAMERAS AND WATCHED THAT THEY DID A HALF ASS PEDICURE When she voiced her opinion about how she felt about her nails they completely brushed her off because they were closed . It was their fault that they confirmed and booked her appointment at 5:00 if they were unable to finish in time . When i called all i wanted them to do was FIX her nails as i told the guy she only had time to fix her nails tomorrow he told me they will not do it unless she comes in today . if i could leave zero stars i would , this salon is the worst place to come . read more

I don't know why they have such a low rating. I had a great experience. I'm new to the area, I'm here temporarily from Southern California. I was looking for a place to get a gel pedicure and was shocked that very few nail places in SF had anything above 3 stars. A lot of places weren't open on a Saturday which i also thought was odd. I called ocean nails a few minutes before they opened. They answered right away, had availability for anytime i wanted to come in that day. I made an 11am appointment they sent me a text confirmation which i liked. I walked in right on time and was greeted immediately by a nice man, and was seated 2 minutes later. My tech was super sweet. Friendly. Did a good job. Was quick but not too quick. In LA you get asked what kind of pedicure you want and are pressured to upgrade from a basic pedicure to all kinds of other things and your pedicure goes from 35 to like 85. I wasn't asked anything which was nice, it was all included. I paid 45 for a gel pedicure which i thought was great and super reasonable. I will definitely be going back. read more

I believe it may have been 3 or 4 years since I have treated myself to a professional mani & gel pedi. Today I suddenly felt inspired. I actually attempted to go to the nail salon I used to go to. They are now only serving their regular customers, no walk-ins, no appointments. So I called a new salon, they said our Next appointment is in July. Did I mention today is still April, 29th? The next place I called, was simply closed. Hmm, in baseball it's 3 strikes your out. I searched on Yelp and found Ocean Nails and Spa. I called. It was already around 5:00 pm. My expectations were low to frazzled, at this point. The proprietor answered, and said she could honor both requests right away. I was 5 minutes away, and drove right over. Between Covid and the worst NM fires I've ever witnessed, I was welcomed, invited to don my mask & wash my hands. Absolutely. The salon is small and clean with soothing pleasant music. I chose the mid range $40 pedicure and a matching gel manicure in "lavender blue." There were many beautiful choices, and I am delighted with this one. Mimi did it all. I am actually truly impressed. I feel really grateful, pleased, and blessed. What started out as this very bizarre treatment, on a weirdly Armageddon-y Spring day, sky filled with ash, turned into a lovely experience, with a kind highly expert and professional. Thank you Mimi and team. I feel very feminine, artistic, beautiful, and wonderfully pampered. A side note: I was really appalled at the horrific, rude treatment and quite frankly verbal abuse by the owner of Nail Time, where I started. They have all the fancy name brands of polish, yet it's now a closed system only for the regular clients. I cannot begin to express how rude, offensive, and Narcissistic that unprofessional business owner was. I'm 56, and I am near crying reflecting back. It was actually a bit traumatizing to me! Navigating such truly strange times as these, I am grateful today that my quest for a pampering beauty respite led me to Hell, purgatory, and finally to a Heavenly hidden gem of a nail salon where I was respected, prioritized, and treated like a queen for a day! I sincerely hope more I'll-treated, ex Nail Time clients find their way to Mimi. She's quite awesome, even under the bizarro pressures we are all under today. I recommend this talented professional. I am giving this place two stars ONLY because the actual paint and fill looks pretty good given the horrible conditions this place is under. There is only the one guy working there and he did both pedicures and nails. I am hopeful I don't get some kind of infection. I am serious. This place is so filthy, it is hard to describe. I wanted to get pictures but they were watching me like a hawk. The pedicure was about five minutes and he used some cheese grater on my feet which was very painful. He never even uttered a word except to tell me I was late. Then he tossed some hot towels on my legs and that was the extent of the pedicure. Then I had to go to his station that was covered with the last person's powder and dirt which he used a file to scrape it all off about half way through the fill. He used a fingernail brush to get the powder off my hands and it really hurt! Then, when it was time to paint, he didn't have me wash my hands first and I had powder and dust still on my mails but he painted anyways! Well, at least it was cheap. I must be spoiled in San Antonio. If this is one of the top rated salons, Santa Fe needs some new salons! Horrible read more

Cut my husband and I's cuticles very painfully, and left both our toes bleeding. The pedicures were rushed and VERY expensive, I have never paid 80 dollars for two pedicures in a parking lot. Lol. My toe has been sore and swollen all day from them cutting the skin. Also half of my polish already chipped off. I had a mani/pedi, just a clean up so no nail polish. Strangest and worst experience ever. The manicurist was very rough and way too forceful. His 'massage' was painful. The strangest thing was that he sandpapered my nails with what probably could have been used on wood, and then didn't buff them. I asked him to buff them and he said it cost extra! Oh, Santa Fe....the lack of decent nail salons is sad to me. I just moved from Austin, where there's a decent nail place on every corner, but I digress. I'd give this a 2.5, but since there isn't an option for that, I'm rounding down. I desperately needed a pedicure, and that's what I got for $43 plus change (not including tip, $6). Yes, I left a tip because anyone dealing with feet and toenails deserves a tip because it's a gross job. Mimi and Kenny are the absolute best! My sister and I go in every couple of week to get our nails done and they always take great care of us. The staff are professional and absolutely wonderful nail technicians. The salon has amazing colors to choose from as well that never disappoint. I never used to keep my nails done because it was so hard to find good places to get them done, but we've been going to Ocean for months now! Pro tip: always call ahead to make an appointment! These folks are always busy because they're one of the best spots in town! If you walk in, you might be waiting, but if you have an appointment they'll take care of you quickly, professionally, and you'll be getting compliments on your nails for weeks! read more

I was a loyal customer and over tipper to this salon. Because they dont always answer the phone, I drove over to make a future appointment and the woman owner told me they were booked out for 3 weeks and wouldnt give me an appt. Another customer pulled me aside and said she got her appointment the same day. They have no loyalty to customers, are extremely tude and unprofessional and have the worst attitude. I have always been a respectful and kind and over tipping customer of Kenny's - but they aren't worth it. I have never been treated so rudely by a business. The vibe there is very quiet and can be uncomfortable for the customer. Mimi in particular is very rude and both Kenny and Mimi are not very friendly at all. Made and appointment and came in for a dip powder manicure and pedicure. The manicure was better than one I received at another Nail salon in town, but not nearly as good as my salon in Portland, Oregon. And the service was deplorable. They treat their customers like cattle. They rush through the service. Again, my nails were okay, but applied too thick and she didn't do the detail work so my cuticles were adhered to the product. When I expressed concern or preference, I was given an eye roll and told not to question her, she is professional and knew her job. The Dremel file that she used to remove my previous dip powder was hot, I told her it hurt and she scoffed at me, indicating that I was too sensitive. She was on the phone during the entire session, switching between taking calls and taking to a family member or friend. Apparently, Nail salons in Santa Fe don't provide foot or hand massages with a pedicure or manicure. I would say these professionals could use a bit more training in customer service and the nuances of giving a better dip powder manicure. read more

Wow. My second visit here and the woman who owns the place is consistently rude. I am truly astounded by her disrespectful behavior. I called at 5:10 to ask if I could get a mani/pedi at 5:15. They said no problem. Got there at 5:15 and simply asked if they were going to rush my service since they closed at 6. I told them if so I'd be glad to come back the following day. Mind you there was only 1 customer there and 45 min is more than enough for a basic service that they said they could accommodate. But when I asked the woman became so aggressive and defensive. She basically said it's "your problem". In general I might give her a pass and think that she was just having a bad day but now I'm seeing that this woman is chronically angry. You never treat customers this way. I'll never give them my business. Do want to add that the man working there was kind and I remember that from last time. Please please pleaseeee never ever get your nails done here! They violently rip them off to the point where the nail bed is almost naked. The technicians aren't exactly the nicest either. I got my nails done here for prom and had an absolute breakdown. they were chunky, horrible thick, and just not what I requested. I wonder why the man who did my nails ran quickly to the back after my appointment..... well it's because he butchered them SO badly. I was crying after paying 55 for them since I had my prom and worked 5+ hours just to get them done for them to be horrible. I was traveling through Santa Fe on a Friday yet in desperate need of a dipping powder manicure. I called on Thursday and lo and behold, they were able to work me in Friday afternoon! Yay! The salon is in a nice enough strip mall and seemed clean. The woman ahead of me was a piece of work! Complained that one nail was a smidge longer than the other, compared the services she'd received to another local salon and THEN called out the young man who had given me water because he'd not offered HER any. Wow. The woman who did my nails remembered my call the day before, addressed me by name and made pleasant conversation. I loved the experience and feel led to tell others in Santa Fe about it! September 8 So now I feel led to edit and update my review. After three days, two of my nails had broken and/or chipped beyond hope.
