Once your time is up there's an enormous playground right next door. There is so much to see and do that you could easily spend hours here without getting bored. Overall this is a fantastic township recreation area. It's clean and well-maintained, and there are endless play options for kids.

The trails are perfect for walking your furry dogs, in-line skating, cycling, easy walking and pushing strollers. There is also a repair station with a tire pump and tools found near the basketball courts. The Challenger Place has finally finished and is a designed playground for kids who are blind or visually impaired. Their sport courts include tennis and basketball courts, as well as an in-line skating rink. The athletic field is available for rental and may be used for baseball games but not for practices. I have heard they have swimming pools but I personally did not see it. Instead, I saw a spray ground (water-enhanced playground) which was to open in mid-May but given our current situation with the COVID-19 outbreak, this is doubtful for mid-May 2020 due to the pandemic restrictions. Normally, it would open mid-May through early September. I would imagine the busiest time to be there with kids is during the height of summer because summer camps are held there by the Monmouth County Park System and Challenged Youth Sports from Middletown.

Group lessons are much cheaper ...call ahead for the rates. The pros are really friendly here. You can play on the courts for a fee. Again call ahead for prices, they vary depending on the time of day/night. You can even rent a ball machine to practice your strokes. That is $10 an hour. On certain nights of the week they have round robin and mixed doubles. If you're a beginner, my suggestion is to take some lessons and spend the bucks if you wanna get good. In the late fall the courts are covered with a bubble so you can play in the winter, then they are taken down around Memorial Day.

One would expect a parking lot with less potholes and legible parking space painted lines; but the parking lot and the grounds keeping has been neglected. There is an appearance of high class but for what they charge, the pool area is rather old...the weight room has mostly older equipment; they do seem to be updating some of their bicycling and treadmills, etc..but they are so slow at it....they are always a couple years behind with their equipment updates....Why should Work Out World have newer and better equipment than The Atlantic Club...????? It seems management is currently seeking to save money. Maybe something about the clientele: Older people and their grandchildren home from college. Unfortunately many of the classes' time scheduling are not suitable for my schedule...if I didn't have to work, I'd be golden! It seems the ones I wanted to do are when I work. The trainers on duty are often talking amongst themselves, or on their phones...as often as they are putting weight room equipment in order...they will certainly answer your questions about certain exercises, or how to use equipment All the employees are courteous and very friendly and helpful. The clothing/gear store doesn't have much I can use. Mostly women's apparel and accoutrements. There is a point system that I have yet to figure out...one accumulates points for purchases and just checking in at the front desk. Men's locker room: Although there are plenty of lockers, the layout is horrendous, and I hear about it almost every time I am in there: Not enough room to dress. The rug is nasty in the locker area. Someone replaced an old shower nozzle with a nice newer one but left the loose spigot handle sitting there without fixing it. There must be an attitude of indifference in the workers... I really like the place, but for the amount they charge....OY ! Yes, it is cool to see lots of expensive cars in the parking lot, but don't their owners care about how TAC is going downhill?

What was once a lifestyle club with immaculate facilities is now substandard to the $29/month clubs. It's embarrassing to be a member of the Atlantic Club now.
