A Slice of Dominican New York... Right Here on Miami Beach. I've been coming to Ocean Deli since 2020, and I honestly can't believe it's taken me this long to write a review. Maybe because people from New York know one universal rule: when you find a great neighborhood spot, you keep your mouth shut. You don't want your hidden gem becoming the next place where people wait in line because somebody on social media "discovered" it. Ocean Deli is one of the last authentic neighborhood delis left on Miami Beach. In a city filled with luxury hotels, trendy brunch spots, and restaurants charging resort prices for breakfast, Ocean Deli quietly does what it's been doing all along--serving great food, quickly, and at prices that still make sense. This is where the people who actually keep Miami Beach running come to eat. Hotel employees, construction workers, delivery drivers, city workers, first responders, and the locals who somehow managed to survive Miami Beach's rising cost of living. If you want to know where the real locals eat, this is it. The owner is Dominican and from the Bronx, and that New York Dominican bodega culture is written all over this place--in the best possible way. Walk through the door and you'll swear you just landed in Washington Heights or the Bronx. Bachata and merengue are playing in the background. The smell of fresh café con leche fills the room. The grill is always working. Conversations bounce around the deli like you've walked into someone's neighborhood hangout instead of a business. The ladies behind the counter are unmistakably Dominican--friendly, hardworking, efficient, and they keep the line moving without ever losing that neighborhood feel. The sandwiches are outstanding. Fresh bread, generous portions, and made the way sandwiches are supposed to be made. No unnecessary gimmicks. No tiny portions with fancy names. The café con leche deserves its own mention. Strong, smooth, and exactly what coffee should taste like. If you've spent any time in New York's Dominican neighborhoods, you'll recognize it immediately. The Dominican breakfast and lunch plates are equally impressive. Simple, authentic, flavorful comfort food that fills you up instead of emptying your wallet. Speaking of wallets... Ocean Deli might be one of the best values left on Miami Beach. While restaurants a few blocks away are charging you like they flew the eggs in first class, Ocean Deli is quietly serving quality food at prices that remind you Miami Beach wasn't always built just for tourists. Just know what you're walking into......This isn't a sit-down restaurant. You walk in, place your order, take your receipt to the register and pay. Then you wait a few minutes while the grill works its magic. When they call your order, you grab your food and you're on your way. That's how it's done here. Fast, efficient, and without all the unnecessary fanfare. Ocean Deli isn't trying to sell you an "artisan culinary experience." It's selling great sandwiches, authentic Dominican food, excellent café con leche, fair prices, and a little piece of Dominican-York right here on Miami Beach. Some places sell an image....... Ocean Deli sells breakfast and lunch. After six years of coming here, I wouldn't have it any other way. Just do yourself one favor: when you find yourself surrounded by tourists paying resort prices for an average meal, remember there's still one place on Miami Beach where the locals go. Before I entered door there's a man pumping hand sanitizer and it made sense because inside was so organized and clean! The deli food was so flavorful I wish I was more schooled on Cuban cuisine. Had some type of plantain mash and it was amazing! 10/10 Empanadas were also full of flavor best I've had on my trip here! read more

We will be back everytime we visit! This is a hidden gem! read more

This place is full bodega right off Collins - love this place - love the coffee - only use Boars head meats for really solid heros/subs/grinders. Sandwiches are between $9-$15 - around foot long. Full range cooler. read more

Food , service and ambience are nice @ they have food variety. Not super cheap, but otherwise it's a neighbor staple for me . 4 stars

Friendly staff bodega style store with the most Amazing Ham and Cheese Croissants. The croissants are huge and toasted/seared. Sandwiches reasonably priced not like the places on Collins Ave but it's Miami Beach. Walk a street over and support the locals. Should have tried a Cuban espresso next time. read more

Unassuming and plain on the outside, all the action and coolness is on the inside! I swear we stepped into a NYC deli. The store is crowded but organized and had a ton of foods you can't get at Publix! The deli counter is a little intimidating for first timers, but the staff is super friendly and helpful. The day we just happened to walk by saw it, we just wanted to grab some snacks to take to the beach. There was hot, homestyle Cuban food, huge sandwiches, and tons of fresh stuff behind the counter! We ended up ordering a few subs & chips, but oh man!!! My kids and I are STILL dreaming about how good those sandwiches were. Toasty French baguettes loaded with amazing ingredients?! Can't wait to get back down there & get more! Just go try it! Worth the crazy roads and street parking. If you park in the lot nearby, make your way here before the beach! read more

Average food with very poor service. Especially the Spanish-speaking guy at the checkout counter making obnoxious remarks about English speakers. If I never find myself in this deli again for the rest of my life, it'll be too soon. read more

I am a big fan of Ocean deli - their subs are only $10! The best part is, they can be prepared exactly how you like them and they are always done quickly. Without a doubt, this is the top sandwich spot in South Beach. read more

Great quality of sandwiches for the price was not disappointed in the service and the experience overall.

Was at an event at the Miami convention center and didn't feel like paying $20.00 for the convention stale food so we ventured out not even one block and found this cute bodega style deli. They have a hot table and a sandwich/ sun counter all with board head meats. Of course I was in Miami and had to get a Cuban and it didn't disappoint! Delish and fast and under $10.00! Def recommend! read more

Your little neighborhood market and deli where one can get anything from sunscreen to a true Cuban sandwich. Everything is fairly priced and reasonable -- even for south beach. They served me promptly and the food was good. Good Sammie place if you are looking for a quick bite or need that deodorant that just ran out :-) read more

Stopped in to pick up a sandwich to take back to the room while visiting south beach. Fantastic sandwich!!! I had the "'meat stack". The bread was fresh and toasted perfectly. Service was friendly and fast for the quality of the food. The price was also on point! read more

I love little delis like this which feel like a community hub, serving delicious house made food that is quite reasonably priced. Also, they have a wide variety of goods for sale from instant coffee to socks. An essential standby for those that live in the vicinity. Breakfast Pastries: Got a bunch, all unlabeled, and they were all delicious! I especially like the ones that were meat stuffed inside yucca and deep fried. You get crunchy, pasty and meaty all at once. Though the thing that looked like a deep fried meatball was delicious and it was only meat. The empanadas were hearty too, pretty solid. Oh yeah, and the guava pastry was sweet like a nice breakfast desert. Cubano: Very meaty and cheesy. Generous amount of pickles and mustard, which I love for the tang. Didn't really notice the pernil though as ham was the dominant meat. Breakfast Sandwich: Standard breakfast fare. Croissant with egg, cheese and ham. By itself, it would be pretty tasty. But I was eating this side-by-side with Cubano and the Cubano was just so good I couldn't appreciate the breakfast sandwich as much. read more

True definition of hole in the wall. A little Spanish goes a long way here. Boarshead meat and cheeses sold fresh in sandwiches prepared in the back. The hot case also has some great looking food. Just keep the drool off the glass please. The rest of the store is great for the little things that locals might need. Great cold cases too for beer, wine, a variety of drinks. Everyone is nice and helpful. Place is always busy which is a great sign! read more

Excellent! Hot bar food looked delicious but I only ordered a small container of rice with pork. It was fantastic (ate it around the corner Al fresco at Collins Park). Also ordered a Cuban w/o pickles which was very good but it had a bunch of those weird fried potato sticks on it (not listed on the board) which I would have also have removed. Small selection of Latin staples and some wine....service was fine but ordering was little confusing but no problem overall. read more

Ordered the Cuban sandwich here. What a great value and the sandwich was huge! It was made fresh to order. I took the sandwich to go. I was only going to eat half of it but man, that thing was fantastic. I ended up eating the whole thing. I got a bag of plantain chips to go along with it. Such a great sandwich bursting with flavor! This deli is a hidden gem! read more

Here in Miami for work and staying at a nearby hotel. The house guys recommended this place for quick made-to-order sandwiches. The folks that run the place are incredibly nice and the store has lots of things that are needed while on a trip. The place is clean and bright, and carefully maintained. The sandwich was so good I came back a few days later. The woman behind the counter suggested a plate of rice with beans along with shredded chicken, a beef stew, and an eggplant dish served right on top. It was delicious! And also a very fair price, especially with all the tourist spots that surround the area. read more

Awesome deli sandwiches to go. Service was excellent, keep in mind that this is to go only, so worth it! Sandwiches are amazing!

Fantastic $8-10 sandwiches using Boar's Head meats on freshly baked bread. This little market is carry out only, but they do have beer & wine that you can grab and go. Lots of locals were here picking up lunch during my visit which is a good sign of reasonable prices especially in an expensive city like this one. read more

Amazing breakfast sandwiches! After enjoying yesterday, we had to go back! Tried 3 different breakfast sandwiches, on Cuban roll, French bread and Hugh croissant. All were so fresh with crusty outside and flaky inside! French bread and croissant were my favorites! Their coffee is awesome too! The prices here can't be beat. $6 for a Hugh breakfast sandwich and $2.50 for small coffee, $4 for large. The other sandwiches range from $8 to $10 and are Hugh! Compared to other prices in area, unbelievable! No place to eat there but walked 1 block to Collins park and sat on bench in front of the Bass Museum. The staff speaks mostly Spanish but understand well. Great place also for snacks and drinks! read more

It was chaotic in here with lots of locals trying to grab lunch. There was security at the door, and I'm not sure why. We placed our order at the deli and paid at the register, but there wasn't a great place to wait for the food that wasn't in everyone's way. Ultimately the food was delicious, but the experience was slightly stressful. read more

This was our best experience while staying in South Beach! Coming from the Midwest and being a foodie, I absolutely love trying new and different things. I get tired of doing the mainstream types of restaurants and have enjoyed trying the much smaller "dive" type restaurants that can bring more of the authentic type flavors that I really want. I stumbled across this hidden gem on Yelp by just looking at the map around our hotel. With the less than desirable places that we were seeing on the main strip that was $$$$, we decided to give this place a try. I was just wanting something small for breakfast as our hotel strangely enough didn't offer a continental breakfast even though it said in the booking. One of the reviews described it as a bodega like one would see in NYC. I would have to agree. This was a very small corner store with groceries and essential items, but it also had a small area for fresh foods and sandwiches. The selection was small and had a heavy Latin/Mexican food influence, which is one of my absolute favorite types of food. Looking at some of the reviews, it suggested we try the ham and cheese croissant sandwich. We ended up getting the croissant sandwich, a beef empanada and the cafe con leche. Back home, I don't get to have the more authentic flavors that is available here. I am so glad that we tried this place because it was by far the best tasting food we had while staying in South Beach. The ham, egg, and cheese croissant sandwich was absolutely phenomenal! It was a huge sandwich and I could not finish it either day we had it. They were handmade. The croissant had to be homemade because it was the best croissant I have ever had. This even tasted better than a croissant I have had at a French bakery. They cut the croissant in half and place it on a panini press to heat and toast it. The eggs are fresh. It was just a very satisfying and filling sandwich! The beef empanadas are also homemade as the crust was just so tender and flaky and nearly melted in my mouth. The filling was very simple- just ground beef with some seasonings. It was wonderful! I have never had an empanada that was so flaky and tender and just an overall great taste. The cafe con leche was also very satisfying. I can be kinda of picky when it comes to coffee and this just hit the spot! It was nice and strong without being too bitter. It also had the perfect amount of cream and sugar to where is was not too little or too much for me. It was just right and I never specified on how much I wanted. It was wonderful! Do not overlook this place because of the looks or what you see when you walk in the store. Go to the back counter where the hot foods are and let your eyes take over! 100% recommend this place and I would go back again and again!!!! Amazing!!! read more

I'm in town for a convention. I'm selling stuff. It is long days. After each day I stop here and get something to eat. Yesterday it was an amazing sandwich (South Beach Turkey), a watermelon soda, and a banana. I ate the leftovers for breakfast. Today it was a huge portion of Cuban pork, rice and beans (the best I've ever had), a spinach empanada, a banana, and a single beer. I'll be having the leftovers for breakfast. I could live this life for a long time. On a second note, the people are really friendly. read more
