I checked google to see when they were busy today. According to google this Thursday morning was not busy. I called that morning to see if they could add refrigerant to our Honda CRV. They recommended a full check of our Honda CRV AC system, which I agreed to because the refrigerant may have leaked out. They said I could drop off our Honda CRV anytime this morning. I dropped off our Honda CRV around 9:30 AM on a Thursday. Jenn Newman, the service advisor at the counter, was very friendly. There were no other vehicles in the parking lot so I thought this morning was a good day to drop off our car. My friend drove me to and from this place so I could leave our Honda CRV here for repair. My friend said usually there are more cars in the parking lot so I guess I picked a good day to bring in our car. The technician Jared said he did not detect any leaks. Jared replaced 10 ounces of R134A refrigerant at $4 per ounce or $40 total. Labor was $79.95. The dye was $6.49. My total bill was $193.52 after a $5 discount. I would highly recommend this service center. The staff here are very friendly. I will return here for any future car service. So far after one month our Honda CRV AC has been working fine. read more

Unfortunately I will not be returning to this establishment. Matt, service manager, took us as a walk in because I had a nail in my tire. I had a 9 hour drive ahead of me and they accommodated me for a $35 tire repair. He told us we couldn't wait because he didn't have walk ins so we drove 40 mins back to Fenwick Island. When I returned, they informed me my car (purchased the week prior) had foam in the tires so the total was $50. We were not made aware of the potential additional charge and my uncle was displeased with the seemingly sly tactic. I travel a lot and have been to other locations that completed the 5 minute job, on the spot, for $20. Matt told my uncle he was never welcome back and tried giving us $15 cash as he threatened to call the cops. Been coming down here for 25 years, very disappointing. There are other shops that will be more pleasant and cheaper. The VP wasn't helpful via phone either. They blame the customer for their lack of information. read more

Ocean Area Tire saved my vacation!!! On the first day of my vacation while driving for four hours to Bethany Beach from NY, my rear brakes started making grinding sounds. My pads had completely worn down and destroyed my rotors. I was riding on only the good front brakes and one working back brake. Being that I arrived on a Saturday, I had to wait till Monday to get my car serviced. I had called around to other places and they told me they were backed up and would take three to five days before they can even look at my car! I had to leave by Friday so I was freaking out. While visiting South Bethany, I ventured in to OC a where I ran over the grandfather of all bolts (on Tuesday). I could hear the hissing when I got out of my car to check it out. My car went from 38 PSI to 9 in 20 minutes. Looong story short, I made it to my mid-20's without ever having car issues so I panicked- tears streaming down my face & all. I called my Dad for directions. His buddy is local and uses Ocean Area Tire. I got to Ocean Area Tire right as they closed and a super nice guy came out of the garage and helped me limp through directions for the after-close drop. I've never done this and I'm sure that I was a pain in the ass with my lack of knowledge. The next day (Wednesday), I was woken up to a call around 9AM letting me know I needed a new tire and they were ordering the same one. I was told that I could expect my car Thursday around 2:30-3:00. They also were super upfront about the price of repair, they let me know how much it would be total. No guessing on labor or extras. I got a call at 3:00 on Thursday from Matt that my car was ready to pick up. I got there and they were super nice and made the process really easy. I would recommend Ocean Area tire to anybody. They made me feel informed and it was affordable given it's a vacation area. I also didn't feel like they took advantage of the fact that I didn't know what was going on- it would be really easy to try to tell me that my car needed extra repairs to get more money. Recently the side panel over the gas tank on my Jaguar XF became jammed. I was low on gas and worried how I would get back to Maryland for work on Monday. The Jag dealer never returned my calls, and DE car dealerships were useless. Then I remembered the shop on Rt 26 that had been effective with a tire problem on my spouse's car in a past year. Totally unprofessional. Warranty claim to check possible bad alternator they replaced based on test elsewhere. Lied about telling me there was an upfront charge to test. So if it was bad then there wouldn't have been a cost, but since it wasn't according to their test it cost me $61 for them to plug in a tester like Autozone did. Glad I will never have to deal with them again, this was closing the book on a car I inherited from my deceased mother. They obviously prey upon the elderly retired folk who don't question anything. I cannot thank this shop enough... my husband and I were on vacation in Ocean City and as we were leaving, our car felt weird. Turns out a screw got into one of our tires and was about to be flat. I called and explained our situation to the gentleman working the front and he was very empathetic and told me they could see us right away. We thankfully had a spare and only needed to drive about 3 miles to get to the shop. As soon as we get there, we were serviced right away. Being pregnant and in a pandemic, my anxiety was up the roof. However, I have never felt more safe in an auto shop. Their waiting area was spotless clean, smelled amazing and they had free snacks and drinks for their customers. I mean..everything was so clean even their bathroom. They also had blankets that were rolled up under the waiting area tables in case you needed to take a snooze. The gentleman working the front was exceptional. He was so nice and professional and kept us informed throughout the whole process. The screw ended up being on the edge of my tire so it wasn't something that could be patched but thankfully, the shop was stocked and had a new tire for us. Everything took about less than an hour. It was honestly the shortest amount of time I've ever waited to be serviced. On the drive home, my car felt strong and well balanced and we just felt so comforted due to the awesome service at this shop. They were told he needed to get back to NY by Monday to start a new job. They didn't have the part he needed and would not have the car ready till Tuesday. They allowed us to get the parts from Maryland and they would install them if we could get them by 1pm. We got the parts and we got there after 1pm. On Nov 16, 2021 I brought my 2015 Edge in for a check engine light. The result was a bad valve on an emissions canister. They gave me an estimate of over $500 to repair it. Since it wasn't something I thought I needed to repair immediately I decided not to do it at that time because having received estimates from them before for other work, I knew that their prices were high. While paying for the work I asked the attendant service advisor Ryan Johnston if he had reset the trouble light. He advised me he hadn't. I questioned why he hadn't and he said that he couldn't do because of the liability they would incur from resetting the light. After arriving home I looked at my bill and there was no code or any explanation what they did. All I got was a bill of $105.58 with no proof that they had done anything. If they had reset the light at least I would have known whether they at least touched my car. Ryan Johnston was very unprofessional and argumentative. The owner of Goodyear I believe lives in my neighborhood. At 5:35 on a Friday afternoon during my vacation in the area, I realized I had a substantial leak; we frantically started heading to Ocean Area Tire while calling them to see if they were still open. The polite but apologetic guy on the phone said it was indeed too late, they wouldn't be able to get to it until tomorrow, but agreed to pump up the tire (which I'm in retrospect wouldn't have actually been much help) . Upon arrival, he located the puncture ( a nail) , then spoke to the technician who agreed to do the work, despite it now being 10 minutes to closing time. Despite the timing, the technical did a perfectly thorough job on the repair, inside and out, rebalancing, and torque-wrenching the lug nuts twice around, finishing well after closing. Very dissatisfied about the way this shop treated us. We were in a tough situation when our child was at the beach without us and experienced trouble with their car's brakes. We brought the car to Ocean Area Tire. They quoted us an astronomical price for the brake job, including repairs that were not needed and a timeline that was creating huge problems for us. I told them that we really needed the car, but they were insistent that the extra repairs were essential before the car would be safe to drive. We ended up taking the car out of their shop and to Robert's Repair Service in Bethany Beach. They repaired the car for a fraction of the price quoted by Ocean Area Tire and got it done quickly, on a timeline that saved us from huge difficulties. We were very dissatisfied with Ocean Area Tire, and when I called and spoke to the service manager, Matt, to explain our concerns, he wasn't receptive and deflected responsibility. BUYER BEWARE!! Ocean Area Tires quoted me $1,100 for breaks and rotors. I dropped my car off and I when I went to pick it up, they charged me $1,206.63. They said that the parts were more than they quoted me, so I paid it and did not argue about it. This was on 8/30/19 and on 9/5/19 they charged me another $128 without my authorization and they did not call me to let me know that my card would be charged. When I called them to find out what happened, they said that they forgot to charge me for parts. I would not recommend going there unless you want extra charges to come up almost a week after the work was completed. It is also concerning that they kept my credit card information. I've never heard of companies doing that before and it does not see very secure. Completely unprofessional. read more

Last night the tire popped off the rim. Being a girl and being from out of state they don't do shit for you here! Called last night and was told he was emailing Matt...they open at 7am...waited until 9:30 and still never heard from Matt. Was told the tire comes with a warranty and it was taken off my ticket. I was never told about a warranty and had absolutely no idea because I would've left a warranty on there with my luck with tires. The only thing they looked at was my drivers side front tire and was trying to push for me to buy a new tire for that one. Now I'm shit out of luck being out of state and a female.
