To avoid any confusion of my review, I want to give a first hand perspective on the unexpected all inclusive circus act my family got to be a part of at 362 on Christmas Eve: 1. The sole purpose we made our reservation for Christmas Eve was because of the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day menu they sent us via e-mail over a month ago. We get there and order and 30 minutes later the waitress comes back and says the manager made a mistake and that the menu is only for Christmas Day after confirming our email saying there was a miscommunication in management. 2. We decide to eat there anyway. We wait another 30 minutes alone before we even get our order taken. Another 30 minutes for appetizers and another 45 for dinner and another 15 for dessert. Dinner alone took 2 hours and 45 minutes. Would not recommend anyone over 65 eating here due to time constraints. 3. I was more excited scraping my knee on coral than I was after the food and dessert. Very mediocre food and if you like well seasoned food, pack your own salt and pepper and don't worry because TSA shouldn't confiscate it. Go to High Tide, Lovango, or Banana Deck in that order for quality food, service, and atmosphere. 4. Not sure which manager fumbled the menu, but on our way out we learned our discover card wasn't accepted. No biggie, but when we brought back another card later after running back to the room to get the other card, they tried throwing the absurd notion that tip wasn't included on the bill when 20% gratuity is clearly stated on every receipt in St. John. Not sure if this was intentional or not but bottom line is either an optometrist or guidance counselor may be needed at Ocean 362. read more

The manger took so much pride in the menu and wine list and made great recommendations on how to enhance the flavors with just the right wine pairing. Lobster tacos were good, not great. Didn't taste a lot of lobster in the olive oil bath they put them in. Brussels sprouts were good. A bit salty but think it's due to soy. Did not hurt them. For entree, I had the Shrimp Curry, wife had the Shrimp Pasta ( both had more elaborate descriptions on menu, these are names on receipt). Both very good. Would happily order either dish again. Dessert was excellent as well. Wife had flourless Chocolate Cake, I had the special of which I don't remember name. Was 3 small "pies", similar to key lime but made with a Japanese fruit that was described as tasting like grapefruit, with the sweetness and none of the sour. Loved it. The biggest opportunity we found was that we were seated in what was to be a great table, on the deck overlooking the water. What we didn't know is the sun would be in our face, no shades to block it (although there was a shade facing south that served no purpose), and ceiling fans ran low. When asking our server, she said she knew, as this was a common complaint. Wondering why the owners don't address this, because I would recommend if your reservations are not post-sunset, don't waste your time. Food and service is a solid 4/5, but the lack of action on a known issue with sun/heat makes this a 3/5. read more

Our family recently dined here for dinner. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. Our server was pleasant and worked hard. We started with the charcuterie and buratta appetizers. My kids ordered pasta and chicken fingers for dinner. My wife and I both ordered the filet. The steak was average at best. Liked the Rosemary Demi, but I can grill a better steak at home. Served with 3 asparagus? Potato side was ok. The highlight of the night was the appetizers. The entrees were disappointing given the price tag. This spot isn't necessarily anything to write home about, but we appreciate their sacrifices during covid and ability to operate during these trying times. Wait staff got maybe a bit snippy when we made some annoying customer requests regarding seating, but obviously that's mostly on us. I think the highlight for me was the focaccia bread you can order for $5 -- comes out hot, fluffy, and just the right amount oily. Unfortunately, none of the food that came out afterwards quite matched the level of the focaccia -- Caesar salad wasn't bad, I've definitely had better tuna poke, but the presentation of ocean 362's was cool! For entrees, I definitely recommend the Korean fried chicken -- it sounds like the chef's speciality (they let it sit in buttermilk for 3 days or something like that). This was the absolute worst service we had on the entire island after being there for more than 2 weeks. When we asked the server which salad she recommends, she said they're both "salady" so they're not very different. I'm sorry, what?!? They are very different and even though you don't eat salad, you should be able to describe the differences. Everything went downhill from here. The four of us went there for a birthday celebration, and Laura was tremendous in terms of helping us get a table that overlooked the bay during sunset at the third level. Due to delays in our travels, I had to inform her of our arrival times via texts and she was so responsive. It was great to meet her in person after our meal. My husband and I came here for dinner around 5:30pm. We wanted to sit at the bar, but could only get a reservation for the dining room. Either way, the views of Cruz Bay is great in both areas. The restaurant is open air concept and each seat is great. Make sure to bring your sunglasses if you're there during sunset. We had Judy as our server and she was fantastic. We had a hard time choosing what we were going to drink and eat. She was super patient with us and helped us decide. They have unique drinks and we decided to try 2 different cocktails. We started with the pork belly appetizer. It was almost like a deconstructed Cuban sandwich with some island flavors. My husband chose the shrimp entree, while I went with the day boat catch (which was mahi mahi). We were both extremely happy with our choices. The seafood was super fresh and the dishes were beautifully prepared. For dessert, I chose the donut bread pudding with salted caramel bacon ice cream. I was so full after the entree but that dessert was out of this world! I would come back just for that! My husband got the johnny cake beignets which were fantastic too but not as good as mine. Overall, this is a wonderful restaurant. We liked that it was casual but had an upscale feel. The food is up to par with our NY standards. One note: for people who complained that the portions are too small and too expensive; I beg to differ. The portions were very generous for the price. Food on St. John is expensive but this quality is outstanding. If I'm going to pay for expensive food, it better be good. First the good. A great view and nice space. As we walked in around 5 pm with a reservation we moved to go to the roof bar, but were told it was full and could not go up, finally able to walk upstairs there were 5 people at a 12 seat bar and they had no interest offering us a drink. At the table we order several items. The mussels were very good, but everything else was poor to bad The Mahi was bland, fishy and gray, the mushroom ravioli was completely tasteless, and our friend ordered the fish of the day and ate maybe be half. Hands down the BEST restaurant, food, and service we've had since we've arrived! For some odd and unfortunate reason Yelp doesn't push this one to the top- but it deserves that and more! none the less. The staff (Fitzroy was our spectacular server who rose to the occasion and more!) were more than Accommodating. They took care of our little ones, too. The hostess & bartender took great care of us and the girls- it was cute and allowed us to enjoy the 5 star unique dishes. The little ones went up and down from the main floor to the top floor continuously and the bartender and staff treated them so kindly and with care. Caitlin, the executive chef, deserves a standing ovation. The dishes were full of flavor and get passion was apparent and appreciated in every bite. She is a true artist. We are here or first night. We stayed at the gallows so it made for an easy choice. Stayed on St. John's for 5 days and this hands down was the best food we had on the island. We had a great experience at Ocean 362 at the tail end of the season in August. We were a family party of 8. Had made a reservation in time to see the sunset... however due to unforeseen circumstances we were unable to make our reservation time. We called the restaurant and politely said it would not be a problem and we could be accommodated at a later time. The wait staff was outstanding. Tried the octopus special and the mussels. Small miss was being out of toasted points for the mussel broth, may have ordered something else instead had I known that. Would love to come here again mid-season and love to see a sunset. The pictures that other Yelpers have posted look amazing. Will be back. read more
