I love coming to Obsessions when I have free time. Me and my friends love to paint the canvases the most. Definitely a hidden gem.

Sworlz Dessert Art Bar - What I thought we would be decorating based on the class advertisement on the website.

Signed up for the Unicorn cupcake decorating class after hearing about this place last week. My…read moredaughter loves unicorns and I thought this would be a fun mommy/daughter date. We also included her grandmother in our girls date. We were each given a choice of 4 cup cakes to decorate out of chocolate, vanilla and red velvet. The employee then started to bring out tubes of icing for each table but failed to provide any instruction as she was doing so. As no one knew what the process was, a lot of guests went ahead with decorating on their own. Once all the icing was handed out, the employee finally addressed the group and provided instructions on 3 different Unicorn designs, none of which were anywhere close to the picture advertised on their website for this particular class. While the time spent with my daughter and her Nana was fun, I was extremely disappointed in the value we received for the price of $15 per person. Not only did we not decorate cupcakes like the ones advertised, I found the whole place to be unorganized and understaffed for the amount of guests being served. When I asked if we would be making the unicorn pictured on the website, I was told no, that was made in their fondant class. There was no indication on the website or during the booking to indicate that the class I was booking wasn't that. The employee did give me a card for 3 guests to come back for free to the fondant class in a couple of weeks, however, I would have appreciated knowing ahead of time that what was advertised wasn't what you were actually making. I could have then made the decision as to whether or not I wanted to spend $45 total to do something different than was advertised. I don't think I would return. The concept is a fun one but this place has a long way to go to live up to similar businesses around Tally.

I came in with a group of ladies, having booked a painting session ahead of time. Our package…read moreincluded either a bottle of wine split between two people (3 buck chuck from Trader Joe's, which does not authorize resale of their store brand products!), or a cupcake. Being pregnant, and one of the first to arrived, I went to the counter to select my cupcake. The ones behind the counter display looked decent, but I was told I couldn't have one of those, but instead needed to take one of the sad tiny cupcakes they had in the back. I said I'd gladly pay extra, and they said I couldn't do that. I said I didn't want anything, then, and would just buy the cupcake I wanted. Apparently they talked, and let me upgrade my cupcake for an additional cost. It was just dumb that I had to have that conversation to begin with. As our group began getting settled, it became apparent that their website's photos of what could be painted wasn't what was available in this class. You were expected to pick one of 10 drawings off a wall, about half of which were geared toward specific ethnicities other than my own. Having a history in art, and no interest in anything they were offering on this day, I found a photo on my phone and did my own thing. I got flack for this several times from the host girl, because apparently I wasn't supposed to be doing that. Umm ok, maybe you should have a better selection, since not everyone who comes to your store wants to paint awfully simple things from your very limited selection. I've been to similar places in the past and really wonder how this place keeps the lights on. Two stars only because the cupcake I fought for ended up being decent.

Anna, the owner, hosted the event with a super encouraging touch. She introduced us to the word of alcohol ink pouring, which is something I've never tried before. This form of art being foreign to me made me a little nervous to mess up my blank canvas, but Anna assured us that not only can you clean your tile and restart if you don't like what you did, but there are no rules when it comes to art. She walked around and helped when needed, speaking kind words about each persons talents. She is extraordinarily hands on, present, and kind. She's just the sort of art teacher we all should want! As for the alcohol pouring itself: so, so fun. As I said, it's super forgiving and there are no rules. I ended up making three myself, and honestly, I probably could have made more with more time because of how addicting it is to watch the colors spread and blend and morph. She had endless supplies in the forms of paints, pens, stamps, and even gold flakes to take your art to the next level. The store itself is super cool. It should be no surprise that there is art everywhere, but the skill that each piece possesses is astounding! My personal favorites are the black and white airbrush works in the front of the shop behind the counter: absolutely beautiful! The shop has plenty of cool knick knacks: beads, books, dog collars, shirts, etc. You can find the coolest things! Once you continue through the shop, you'll find a fun outside area. The best part of this area is the large bubble wands. I don't care how old you are, everyone loves bubbles. There is no greater joy than making a giant bubble and watching it fly away. 10/10 would recommend you visit the bubble making station when you go! I made sure to grab a card before leaving because they offer a lot of different classes that I want to try! The class I found most intriguing is the "Art to burn & Vision boards" class. In this class you get to burn what you wish to leave behind and forget, and then make a vision board of your intentions, goals, or positive affirmations; pretty much whatever you need to provide that therapeutic release. She also hosts birthday parties, tie-die parties, and so much more. I'm very interested in going back and trying another class!

A fun, welcoming space to get creative!…read more It has been a long time since I have done an art project. I'm talking over a decade. So I was nervous at first to sign up for an adult art class at Feeling Art, hoping I didn't make a fool of myself. But I shouldn't have been worried at all! Anna is so kind and welcoming, happy to help with any questions and walk you through the processes for each project. We did the "Fun with Cement" class recently, adding a little alcohol ink pouring at the end, and absolutely loved it! It was such a unique experience with a unique art form, pouring cement and decorating our creations with SO MUCH GLITTER! And with the small group atmosphere, you get one-on-one time to learn about the art form and how to do it properly while still having the opportunity to add your own creative touch. I also got to try the alcohol ink pour and make a drink coaster. It's most similar to a paint pour process, but, if you don't like it or make a mistake, you can simply wipe the "canvas" clean and start over! Overall, I would highly recommend signing up for a class at Feeling Art or doing a private party (they're flexible and all you have to do is ask). So get out there and be creative!
