We came specifically for the rage room. While we had a lot of fun smashing things, there are some things that could be worked on. To start my wife's goggles were so scratched she had trouble seeing, mine weren't much better. She tried a few and all were pretty low visibility. We found this place as we were turning around lost in Tallahassee. What a lovely find!! I had never thrown an axe before; frankly, I had never even entertained the idea, but the concept intrigued us. We went in and were informed an online reservation could be made, so we dashed to the website, which is well designed and easy to maneuver, and made a reservation. Upon returning, we were paired with an "Axe Master", who was knowledgeable and guided us through axe throwing technique and etiquette. Went here with a group of six on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't busy at all. Half of us were newbies at axe throwing and they had plenty of bays available in addition to a variety of weapons including knives and hatchets. Our coach was incredible friendly and so patient. He let us throw well beyond our time limit, all six of us felt like we had the opportunity to throw plenty of times with all of the weapons. Our coach left a lasting impression on me as he was a great teacher for those of us who were new and nervous. He stuck with my mother in law who was having more difficulty until she finally got her first throw to stick. He also had a perfect balance between letting us play on our own, but being around when we needed help. He was the sweetest! We will definitely be back in the future to try out some of their other activities like the rage room or splatter paint! read more

This place was really fun and offers a lot of specials. As a couple that was together for 6 years this Valentine's Day, we wanted to something more low key, especially since we're saving up for our wedding soon. I saw that Tomahawks was doing a deal on Valentine's Day for a % off if you booked online, so I did just that! When we got there, it was pretty packed. We check in in, ordered a drink and got to meet the friendly staff people that would end up taking care of us for our hour-long journey. We got in a short how-to lesson and then got right to work with our 'partners' (you somewhat share a lane with another couple unless you came with 4 people). I somehow never really caught on to how to throw axes very well, but everyone around me seemed to pick it up pretty seamlessly. We still had tons of fun even though I sucked at it. It was also very satisfying when I finally scored the occasional target! By the time an hour is up, you're pretty exhausted but also happy with your handiwork. Axe throwing initially seemed like something difficult to do, let alone master. Although our axe master was relatively new, she was very helpful and guided us through the basics of axe throwing and gave us some good practices. I was landing axes on the board in no time and was even able to land some trick throws. It was also pretty fun playing the various games they offer with the axe throwing. Very sad experience here. My boyfriend and I walked in an hour before they closed, well, that's not entirely true I guess. We walked in 58 minutes before they closed. We didn't have an appointment or anything, it was a spur of the moment idea for us and we were so excited! The man at the front desk told us though they could not start a new session when there was less than an hour until close. So what he was saying, was that if we had walked in 2 minutes earlier, we would have been able to do an activity. Which yes, we were there less than an hour before close, but by 2 minutes. Maybe I'm overreacting, but this didn't seem incredibly reasonable to us. And we were happy to just do a 30 minute session. But the man refused, and we left disappointed. It left a pretty bad taste in our mouths, the way the man spoke to us was not friendly and it seems like it was more so that he didn't feel like setting us up, rather than us not being there early enough. Tomahawks is a lot of fun. The reason for the 3 stars is because 1. Its pricey. $30/pp for a hour is pretty steep. 2. You throw a axe. It's more of a 1 and done place. Once you know you can throw a axe there isnt much else to do. 3. The people that we were paired with seemed to be on a 1st date and were very uncomfortable with eachother and not interactive in the whole process. I doubt they ever had a 2nd date. But it also made our experience awkward having to "play" with them for a hour. I think this is a great place to try, but like I said before, especially because of the price it's more of a 1 and done. Had a friend visiting from out of town so wanted to try something new and we stopped here. It was a lot more entertaining than I thought it's be. They don't just tell you to throw an ax. They teach you different techniques and then show you games to play. Me and my friend are super competitive so it was funny playing games with an ax. Our "Ax Master" was super fun and cute and really knowledgeable. They serve beer and wine and some type of white claw spritzer so that's always fun. May sound pretty basic to some, def not for everyone but a good place for solid good people who find something fun to do. Will be going back for sure! read more
