I had gone to a well-respected golf fitter but after two hours of switching shafts, club heads, etc., we came to the mutual conclusion that getting fit for a golf club prior to improving the swing mechanics was the best way to go. Golftec is a well-respected member in the golf industry and so, I decided to find a location near my home. The Woodbridge location is in a Golftown store. Currently, there are two rooms ( and a possible third) with all of the Golftec equipment set up for left and right handed players. Patrick Arbour is the golf instructor at this location. After an assessment of your swing, a lesson follows. Be sure to bring a 7-iron and golf shoes. A detailed discussion with a number of graphics/videos showing positions of your swing are presented to the student. There are four colours (red, yellow, blue and green) denoting the level that you are compared to a database of data where you compare to professional or elite golfers. I can tell you that watching yourself on a monitor and seeing what your swing habits/movements are compared to what is efficient, is very humbling. After my first lesson, Patrick fixed one very clear problem for me, that is swaying off the ball. It took a week for me to internalize it but after 7 weeks (almost all consecutive), my physical movements have become more efficient and consistent and less dependent on my athletic timing. After each lesson, you have access to a proprietary Golftec App that shows videos of the Before and After each lesson. There are written notes and drills to review to support the lesson and on video of you compared to a professional golfer. As someone who is a visual learner this is very helpful. I've taken lessons over the years, but without a doubt this is the best investment that a golfer can make well before deciding to buy a set of clubs. Bombing perfect penetrating drives, and placing the approach shot on the green like you were tossing it from the side bunker. My buddies couldn't believe that after saying "It's my first round this year" and "I don't practice" - constantly - that I could play that well. I felt like Tiger Woods. Buddies were actually calling me Lion Boner. I felt the golf god pheromones sweats. They feel good. The miss universe Canada candidate at the turn asked why I was being called Lion bone, and was incredibly impressed by my mediocre stuttered response that you can't choose your nickname. Even the swedish super model cart girl asked if I can teach her how to play sometime after seeing me hit a few amazinggg shots. With a john Daily smirk I said "Sure!" - but let me ask my wife when my next free weekend is to be able to golf again. Well ... somehow I now have NO more free weekends. I even told her I wouldn't wear red golf shirts any more, or any Nike attire at all. Anyways, It's been 7 weekends of antiquing in the smallest of towns of Ontario and our garage is full of garbage. I would for weeks be like a tung out excited dog out the car window when we accidentally passed a course. I now have glazed over eyes like a caged animal, the pheromones of a extremely old turtle, and generally haven't felt like a lion at all since. But I love to come to Bushwood whenever my friend ask me for play a round. The 9 hole executive course at Bushwood is just perfect for me!! My friend can still keep her insanity and we still friend after a round of playing. The grounds are well kept and the fairways and greens always in good condition. (gee I cannot blame the course for all those boogies!!) I usually go during morning have a quick game then we go for lunch, perfect girl's "day" out!! BTW, Bushwood also has another 18-hole Championship Course, maybe I should give it a try next season after more practice! .

There's also an area for driving range if you just want to practise your swings. I've only gone on a course a few times so I'm still not too familiar with all the rules. If you are not too familiar with it as well, be sure to read the rules on the card that I've posted. Remember to arrive 20 mins before your Tee time to make payment and you should book the time in advance. This is another great fun family activity for "staycation". With my family, we don't take this game seriously so we play best ball so that we don't feel too much pressure from the group behind us. You book your Bay online and pay for your "tee time" there. When you arrive you access the facility with a CloudKey that is on your phone to unlock the front door. From there, everything is fully automated and you can practice your best swings! The best part of this is that you know someone is always watching online through the cameras of the facility, since there has been a couple of times where we have received messages to please do not move any benches or chairs around. Safety first! The facility is clean and nicely ventilated which is great. Other patrons that are at their bays are usually very quiet and respectful as well. This location is opened 24 hours so if you're feeling for a round of golf at 3AM - you know where to go!

This is a public course so you don't need a membership. Well, it seems like COVID pricing is in effect, and it's about 10% higher from what we recall. It's the first time I played the Classic and Challenge course on the same weekend. I agree with the person working there, "you play the Challenge course if you want a better score". Even though you would think by calling it "Challenge" and it being a longer course, it should be more difficult. I'm a noob and I scored the SAME score on both courses. I find the greens are easier to putt on the Challenge course. Both greens are a bit on the slow side. I find the rough on the Challenge course had grass a tad too long. I lost a couple balls because I just couldn't pinpoint it on the rough. The taller grass makes it easy to miss the ball even if you're 3 meters away. It's busy, so they will always try to pair you into a group. The spacing between groups however is decent, keeping the course flowing without being backed up too much. A course marshal was there to ensure groups are moving along. A solid choice for a public course.

Wow, what an upgrade this outdoor driving range has gotten this season. TopTracer machines are at…read moreeach station in the middle section, and when you download the app and create a profile, you can track your distance of your ball for free. Only during warm up or Top Tracer 30 option, will they track your distance/performance in the history on the app to give you insights. You can even use it to play a game or use targets to simulate holes from different golf courses. It doesn't record my longest shot distance when I played a simulated hole from a golf course. It would instead record the distance to the pin. The mats on the right or left side don't have these machines. This place is still busy as ever even on a weekday night. We were able to score a free basket by collecting points. It makes practicing so much more fun! I went through my basket quickly playing this, and it motivated me to get better. Now this game changer solidifies this place as my favourite driving range in the city. There is a putting area to practice and an area for without a pin for chipping perhaps. However, there's sometimes a class going on there. I've heard the owner can be pretty harsh, but I have yet to interact with him and have been here many times without hiccups. He has left us alone every time we came here to practice. This driving range and another near the airport are the only ones in the GTA that use these TopTracer machines so it'll get us coming back for sure.

Just avoid most of the older guys in the golf carts and you'll be fine.

Remington offers two 18 hole full sized courses, the upper and the valley. Valley is definitely much more picturesque and interesting, upper is mostly flat. You'll have to navigate around electrical towers on both. Greens are mostly meh. There's no driving range here, but a decent chipping and pitching area.

Close by Uber After 10-12 calls stumbled on this place. Played the Valley. Well manicured, tough but fair rough, and pretty friendly. Simply hit straight you are fine Good mix of distances. Fun creative and one gorgeous par 3. Friendly staff and cart was always there when you needed a drink. Would recommend and will come again. It's not a private club but it's also not a municipal course.
