In my quest for searching poutine (my comfort food to combat stress during my work hrs) in East York - I heard good things about this place. So - I ordered classic poutine via Skip the Dishes. The portion was HUGE, I chose regular size - glad I did not go for large size lol. However, when this generous portion is packed in a small container, with relatively loose gravy, the result is mashed potato with cheese and extra salt. The cheese was plenty. But although their menu describes "squeaky cheese", unfortunately, when I ate it, there was no trace of squeakiness. It may have been different if I ate it in the restaurant.

The owner definitely gave me a little New York attitude about that, and honestly, his personality ended up being half the experience. We ordered two Crack Burgers, poutine fries, regular fries, and a completely plain burger for my very picky husband. The owner originally thought the plain burger was for a child since he was outside and seemed low-key offended when he realized it was an adult ordering a burger and a bun :) Then I made the mistake of asking for ketchup before I'd even tasted mine. Absolutely not. He basically told me I needed to try the burger FIRST before I was allowed to start adding anything to it. And you know what? I respect it. His personality may be a little off-putting if you don't appreciate that kind of humor, but we thought he was hilarious. You can tell he's genuinely passionate about his food and wants you to taste it the way he intended before changing anything. He was super honest, a really nice guy, and made the whole experience memorable. And most importantly, the food backed him up. The Crack Burger was amazing and I'm not even a big burger person. Would absolutely return if we're ever in Toronto again. Just know before you walk in: you may be the paying customer, but apparently you're still trying that burger his way first. And for good reason and it's good!

He interacted with us like he knew us, same with other patrons. He's welcoming, friendly and a riot, very funny! First time here, I got you he said and proceeded to recommend which burger oh and DO NOT ask for mayo on your burger. He is adamant that mayo has no business on a burger lol! Onions.. oh they're marinated for 24 hours. He takes orders and delivers the food to ya. Graciously two other patrons left us sit at the other table next to them because the high bar was an option with my mom. He helped us get situated. Hands down best smash burger I've had... I had a double patty with cheese, bacon and those aged onions lol! The burger was flavorful and juicy! The fries, fresh cut hot and very good! It was a thoroughly enjoyable meal and experience!

They recommend not putting any other toppings and they are right, that's all this burger needs! Any other toppings and you won't experience its true taste. I usually ask for a "single" because two patties are too much for me. The fries are good. I've had the white truffle mayo dip for the fries. I have also tried the Greek fries which is a big portion and meant to share. What can I say other than, DELICIOUS! I did try the Holy Cluck... however, the chicken itself had no flavour until I got to the middle where all the toppings were, then that gave it flavour. It was too big... bigger than the bun. I don't recommend the chicken but the burgers, yes! They serve a variety of milkshakes, a funnel cake and other things. If you feel up to the challenge, they have a "Go Chuck Yourself Challenge." You have to eat a Chuck Yourself burger and drink a milkshake all in 6 minutes. If you beat the best time, they will pay for your meal. You get a t-shirt and your pic and name go up on the wall of fame. Guys! You have to see the size of this burger.... I really don't know how people do it!
