Kolby Lord was our trip leader. He was the best. He was funny, kind, helpful, interesting, and a good friend. He made our trip amazing.

Wow, what a solid experience for our 10-day road trip and this being the beginning adventure. We got so lucky to have found OARS. Our guides Matt and Julia were incredible, they truly know how to guide. I had worries about falling off and or flipping and that was never the case once we hit our first major rapid. So enthusiastic & leading with pre rapid heads up. Matt was our guide for our 4 person crew and he was so phenomenal, energetic and was always up to get a photo op. Julia the main leader holding 6 others was diligent, communicative, and constantly getting to know us / check in. Lunch was fantastic, we all ate too much. They had a snack, lunch, drinks, and desserts. Can't wait to do another OARS and hit up to a higher level now knowing how well we were guided!

What a professionally-run adventure! From the moment we met our trip leader, Lee, to the tearful goodbyes with guides Abby and Edie at the end of our 5-day run, my party knew we were in the best of hands. Our group of 8 guests included folks who have run many rivers world-wide to a couple "newbies" who hadn't yet done an overnight float. Each of us had an incredible experience and our newbie is already planning her next river trip with OARS. The scenery on the Yampa is comparable to a sized-down Grand Canyon, and the water is big and fun. We loved the side-hikes to see petroglyphs and pictographs, waterfalls, and historical signatures from early explorers. The equipment was top-notch, the food fantastic, and we'll be telling river stories for years to come. A truly epic adventure!

Amazing introductory rafting excursion. Our river guides, Lee and Kale were very informative about river safety, pictographs history and all around champions of fun. From start to finish our river rafting experience was exhilarating with the breath taking views, rock jumping, animal sightings and class 2 & 3 rapids. If you are looking to introduce your family to rafting,, with OARS you can't go wrong.

Highly recommend. Did 1-day float trip through split mountain. Guides were very knowledgeable and scenery was spectacular! Kayla, Bruce and Jake thank you for the great day!!!

Sometimes you go on a rafting trip and the guide is kind of a know-it-all prick adventure junkie who is blabbering on and on about things you don't care about or acting like he is god's gift to the world. That wasn't the case here. Our guides--a guy with a blond ponytail and a gray haired guide--were both friendly, funny, professional, and all around good guys. And the trip itself was reasonably priced and extremely scenic. The Green River wasn't exactly a thrill a minute--but you can't blame the company for that when it's late August in Utah and there's been a drought. It was still very pretty and I had a good, relaxing time. But I can't stress enough that the people here are who made this a company I wouldn't mind rafting with again. Everyone from the bus driver to the guides to the people working in the officer was extremely friendly and helpful. Much better than a trip I took in Colorado where the guide spent the day talking about his love of guns and hatred for the government.

O.A.R.S. is next level, so consider your search for the best river running company in the country done. We had an epic 4 days rafting, kayaking and SUP-ing down the Green River with fun, professional and knowledgeable guides. We all had plenty of opportunities to experience some class II's and III's in the boats of our choice and had just as much fun on the class I's and just drifting along the gorgeous river. Sweet short hikes, banging food and descriptions of the breathtaking landscape we were rowing past were the icing on the cake. The endless beauty of untouched land experienced from a river is priceless. To our guides Lee, Shawn, Robin, Lindsey, Matt, Zac & Doug: you guys are the real thing. Thank you times 5. See ya out of there.

I imagined myself sitting on a raft for lengthy hours bored to death. He persisted and I reluctantly agreed. Now that the trip is over, I am so glad my husband persisted, and honestly I could have easily stayed for a longer period of time. The guides (Joe, Payton, Donovin, Jess, Rain, and Luke) were hardworking, interesting, cheerful, skilled, and a joy to be around. The food was delicious and freshly made every day. The rapids were fun. The views were amazing, at every bend there seemed to be something new to see. Not only did we have time to swim and paddle, but also to take hikes and explore the surrounding area. I would do a trip with Dinosaur River Expeditions again in a heartbeat. I highly recommend them.

The river guides take excellent care of you, have a wealth of knowledge about the history and geology of the area, and prepare the best meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. These trips are perfect for families and groups of friends. My wife and our 11-year-old son just did the Yampa River trip. My son and I did the Gates of Lodore trip in 2017. On both trips there's been a mix of singles, families and friend groups. You won't regret booking a trip with Dinosaur River Expeditions! We're already planning our next trip with them.

I was very happy to get a cabin last minute Thursday evening. It was $250 for one night. The cabin…read morewas very nice, so I was happy to pay the price. I booked a guided fishing trip for early the following morning. I woke at 6:00 am packed my belongings. When I looked under the bed to see if I had missed anything, I was mortified. There were beer cans, nicotine tin, tissues, and what appeared to be some sort of bone. Yes, a meat bone. I had to meet my guide at 7:00 am. The store was closed so I called the posted phone number to report the issue. A man answered the second number I dialed. I told him what happened. He told me the store opened at 6:30 and he couldn't do anything. At 6:30 the store opened and I talked to a woman at the counter and showed her the pictures. I asked her to look at the cabin. She said she believed me and I texted the pictures to her. When I returned from my fishing trip it was around 5:00 pm. I went into the store and talked to a different woman behind the counter. She told me she had to talk to someone and left. When she returned, she said the manager would take ten percent off the room rate. No apology or anything. I told her that was unacceptable. She left again and a few minutes later the manager, Dave, came out. To make a long story short, Dave accused me of placing the trash under the bed. I told him that I am a retired peace officer, a lieutenant with a CA agency and an upstanding person. He again accused me of putting the trash under the bed as some sort of scam. He said he gets scammed all the time. I took umbrage to this and told him off. He told me to leave, grabbed my arm and started to escort me out. I told him to take his hand off me, which he did. Then he told me he was going to get five guys to take me out. I said, "go ahead". He said he was going to call the police. I said , "please do". When he didn't, I did. A sheriff deputy arrived a short time later. I told him I realized he couldn't do anything and he said he'd talk to Dave. He asked if I paid with a credit card and I said I did. He said if they decided to give me a refund, I would see a credit. I told him I wouldn't expect to see that. I have my own Airbnb and am a super host. I would never treat my guests this way. I would have probably been satisfied with a sincere apology, but 10 percent off the room rate with no apology? That's an insult. And he sends his employee back to extend the offer rather than come talk to me himself. The fishing guide told me he's heard nothing but bad things about Dutch John resort. I've read some other reviews, all negative. Dave is mentioned specifically in one, similar attitude. The owner brushes them all off as disgruntled customers, unjustified.

It was also a holiday and they stayed after their opening hours for me. With that said, they knew I was distressed about money and were able to recycle parts. I hope people keep in mind how rare it is to have a family owned business and to still be graceful in stressful situations. Charged 253 dollars, plus a 25 fee for gas, to tow my car 10 miles. Not the $140.00 I was expecting. Need my car ASAP. I asked for a quote for repairs. After calling and getting no information for a week. I called and was told that I owed an additional 200 dollars in parts and labor. But none of those parts solved the problem. They would continue to look. They called to explain that the timing belt was bad. I gave permission to replace a belt, they installed a "Timing Belt Kit" and a new water pump. Cost over a hundred more than the quote. Didn't find that out until I got the bill. Was informed that the brake calipers needed to be replaced. Car is unsafe, need my car ASAP, gave permission. Got the call, the car is ready. Went to get the car, paid my ridiculous bill. Didn't make it far before I realized that the brakes were bad. Almost rear ended someone. Called to ask for assistance. Was told to drive 20 miles to the next town and have them look at them. Because, "Everyone is going home early today, it is Friday." Called the owner. Owner says that their nephew will be able to assist me. Return for additional assistance. Two employees are still available, I call them tall guy and short guy. Nephew is not yet there. Tall guy goes under the tire with a razor blade and asks short guy to hit the brakes. They repeat this for both tires. Brakes still "squishy." Brakes should be "fine". But there is a massive oil leak. Open the hood for closer inspection. They blame it on a loose oil filter. short guy has tightened the filter. Should be fine. They recommend complaining to the people who changed my oil. Tall guy gets me 2 quarts of oil. One for now, one "just in case". I notice a part that is loose. Ask if it should be loose? No. That is my distributor. Tall guy quickly adjusts my distributor by hand. Closes the hood and tells me that I am good. I am so ready to be done with this. Hop in the car and start the engine. The idle is now higher than I thought was possible. Mechanics return quickly, as the noise is incredible. Tall guy re-adjusts the distributor again. Idle sounds much better. I am good to go. Hop in the car and get the hell out oh there. Hit the gas as I leave the lot, car does not accelerate. Return to the lot again. Tall guy again adjusts the distributor. Sounds o.k., little high. Ask him to test drive it. He drives down the road. Nephew arrives. Tall guy returns with the car. Nephew, tall guy and short guy discuss whoever installed the distributor. Short guy notices smoke rising from the brake. Nephew looks at the brakes, pokes them with his multi tool, they move. Should they do that? Apparently not. Nephew asks me to move the vehicle behind the shop. I do so. Nephew quickly reassures me that while he is not a mechanic, he is better than the other guys. Is there a mechanic available, I ask? He is not available, plus he isn't any good. Nephew jacks up the car and removes passenger front tire. I am missing a Lug Nut. I had a full set when I dropped the car off. They do find the missing Lug Nut, it was on the ground near where the car was worked on. Nephew inspects brake and caliper. Brake caliper has not been installed correctly. Nephew corrects this problem. Calipers still wiggle on the rotors. Should they do that? It happens with cheap parts. Nephew looks at but does not remove the tire from the drivers front side. Pokes caliper with his multi tool. It wiggles. Should be fine. Points out that I have a lot of oil spilled from the oil filter. I should talk to the guys who changed my oil. Nephew then bleeds the brakes again. Has me help him. Takes much longer this time. Brakes actually feel close to normal. I still have concerns, but I have got to go. Arrived at 2 PM, drove away at 6 PM. Drove the 45 minutes to home. Stopped at the place that changed my oil. Massive oil leak. Not from the filter. Almost no oil left in the car. Car still needs repairs. To summarize: Installed the brakes incorrectly. Installed the distributor incorrectly 3 times. Forgot to re-install the parts they removed. Replaced parts that did not need to be replaced. Let me drive away with faulty brakes. Told me they could not help me when I called about these problems. (WHY you ask? Because they do not have a mechanic on staff. Good to know that I was paying through the nose for guys who aren't actually mechanics to work on my car. Just some guys who know some stuff.) Missed an obvious problem. Referred me to another mechanic to resolve the problems they caused. Charged me over $1100.00 for a $300.00, fix. Then to fix the problems that they caused, is going to cost me a fortune.
