We were very fortunate to run the Yampa River at 2100 CFS with an 8 person group on June 7th to June 11th due to the weather storms just days before. The owner Kass, told us she would try to make it happen considering the flow, and we got lucky....Thank you Kass for all phases of running a successful family business. Your wonderful guides, Ava, Alex, Austin and lead guide Rain were all so amazing in making safety the priority yet having fun. When my husband first suggested that we go on a 4 day river trip down the Green River into Dinosaur National Park, I hesitated. I imagined myself sitting on a raft for lengthy hours bored to death. He persisted and I reluctantly agreed. Now that the trip is over, I am so glad my husband persisted, and honestly I could have easily stayed for a longer period of time. The guides (Joe, Payton, Donovin, Jess, Rain, and Luke) were hardworking, interesting, cheerful, skilled, and a joy to be around. The food was delicious and freshly made every day. The rapids were fun. The views were amazing, at every bend there seemed to be something new to see. Not only did we have time to swim and paddle, but also to take hikes and explore the surrounding area. I would do a trip with Dinosaur River Expeditions again in a heartbeat. I've done two trips with Dinosaur River Expeditions so far - a 4-day Gates of Lodore trip and a 5-day Yampa River trip. The experience is phenomenal! DRE took great care of us on our four day float down the green river through Dinosaur National Monument. The guides provided freshly made food three meals a day. The geography and landscape was breathtaking. The rapids on our late summer trip provided just enough excitement for our first family rafting trip, but at the same time mellow enough for the kids to go in the inflatable kayaks without us worrying. read more

Dinosaur River Expeditions - Fun on the River Yampa!! - Rafting/Kayaking Near Me - Vernal, Utah

This river is a tubing river, so expect to fall asleep in your raft. Thank goodness, too, that the river is so tame -- this operation doesn't have so much as a first-aid kit. Seriously. Two of the guides -- Mike and Spike -- were jovial and friendly. The rest were surly and irritated. Not even a smile. It's only for Mike and Spike's transcending attitudes that this operation even gets *two* stars. The lunch is a pile of generic-brand lunch meat and sliced bread with tired-looking fruit as an afterthought, so bring your own. (On the day we went, there were rodent droppings in the bottom of the bin the spreading knives are kept in.) We went on a weekend day, and we spent the whole trip running over drunken tubers and being eternally jealous of their beer and cheap entertainment. I'm given to understand that this is normal. read more

If you like river rafting, and if you want to experience the river without a great deal of preparation and effort, let Dinosaur River Expedition's competent and dedicated staff take care of you while you concentrate on enjoying the river, the hikes, and the geological time history written in the strata of rock along the river. The food is prepared by the river guides while you set up your tent and get comfortable for the rest of the day. While their website boasts about exciting class Ii rapids, it was no more than a gentle float. As far as the luxury lunch, we were offered sandwiches we made ourselves made up of Oscar Meyer ham or turkey, fixings, potato chips, some candy, and Koolaid. Not even a bottle of water. I will say our group was fun but for $100 per person, it was very disappointing. I contacted the owner via email after we got home and she was quite rude and not willing to work with me at all. Save yourself the drive and the expense. I have filed a grievance with my credit card company. read more

In June 2018 I led a group of 22 senior citizens on a four-day river rafting trip to visit archaeological and rock art sites along the Yampa River. While at least one local rafting outfitter refused to even consider taking an older group, Jen and Tyler, the proprietors of DRE, stepped up and did a superb job for us. The guides who took us down the river all had multiple years experience on the river and did a wonderful job. They were open and outgoing, very knowledgeable about the river and the landscape, and surprisingly excellent cooks. They put in some very long days, but were always pleasant and helpful. The gear they provided for us was all in top shape. All in all, I'm at a lost to suggest any way that they could have done a better job. We will definitely use them in the future. read more

Did a "day trip" (4 hours - In the river at 10 a.m. - out of the river at 2 p.m.) on the Green River. A little disappointed it was so short for the price. Did a HALF DAY TRIP (4 hours) on the Arkansas River with a different rafting company for 1/2 the price! Just don't understand how this was a "day trip". Lunch was "meh". read more

I took a four day trip down the Green with this outfit. The guides were great. Very friendly and professional. The least experience of our three guides had five years of experience. The food was great. The guides worked hard and stayed on top of everything for the entire trip. A great knowledge of the geology and history of the canyon made the flat water sections very enjoyable. Took my family for the 4 day green river trip. Had a great time. The guides were fun and very attentive. We learned about the geology of the area, too. I was on a restricted diet (gluten-free) and the company provided the gluten free alternative to the regular meal. The food was great! The owners Jen and Tyler were wonderful with all the pre-trip questions and I really liked the pre-trip meeting. The equipment we rented from Dino River was clean and in good condition. I went on the four day Green River trip with my yearly hiking buddies and we had an INCREDIBLE time. Atv and white water rafting You definitely get your monies worth. Tim is a great guide on the ATV. Beautiful country. Rafting was also slot of fun. We had a group of three rafts, all guides were great and we had a lot of fun. 2 1/2 hours was just the right amount of time on each activity. We also had a great lunch that was included. read more

The staff was not just knowledgeable and professional but 4 of the nicest, accommodating, and helpful river guides. The food was great...and the magnificence of Ladore Canyon is beyond words. The trip, (at middle cfs water level) balanced fun big rapids with small enough ones for kayaking for my husband and I, and we're healthy seniors, and gorgeous scenic meandering. Hikes also balanced our time on the water, so we got to stretch our legs and explore some of the canyonlands. When you call to book, and if you are reading this, then you are thinking about a rafting trip...you will likely reach Jenny. She's one of the owners and one of the most delightful people you'll likely encounter. She met us on our return, and it was with much enthusiasm that we were able to report what a wonderful and authentic river guided experience we all had...and I know I speak for our entire group of 13. This was an absolutely amazing adventure. We did the 4 day Gates of Lodore trip. The guides were super helpful and went out of their way to make our trip go smoothly. The campsites were beautiful and the views spectacular. We ate very well the whole trip. The rafting was adventerous enough for our family of 4 with children ages 8 and 10, but never unsafe.
