Super fun with great guides! We had never been white water rafting, so I was a bit nervous with the kids (9yo and 11yo). The guide was wonderful with the kids and made it so fun! The rapids were not as rough as I expected, but perfect for first timers. The stories and info about the River, mountains, and local legends the guides provided were fun during the calm parts. The lunch they provided hit the spot, too! Highly recommend this company! read more

I just got off a 1 day float down the Green River with my family, and we had a fantastic time. Our river guide, Brenda, was awesome, answered my many questions throughout the trip, and has definitely NOT wasted her life. At lunch, everything was fresh, the beach sandy, and the river water refreshing. It was really the highlight of our trip from Oklahoma. You should go. read more

What an amazing day! The guides were experienced and knowledgeable and made the intro/safety talk funny and engaging, the river was fun and splashy, the scenery was gorgeous, and we got to float alongside the boat after lunch - what more could you ask for?! We saw a bald eagle, mergansers, and some cliff swallows - no big horn sheep. My kids (twins almost 11 and a 9-yr old) had a great time, and they guides were really patient with them :-) - The office staff were also great - I called the day before to find out if the trip included a trip to the Quarry at Dinosaur National Monument (it doesn't) and they walked me through the average day, even gave me a heads up about the yummy taco salad lunch (which my kids were excited about - but they also had PB&J on hand). read more

My wife and I have been dealing with this nightmare for months. In Early September we went to Utah on a family vacation. Adrift had failed to update their address from their old location near Moab (hours from their current location). We started calling two days in advance to confirm our reservation. No return calls. We have phone records and everything. We went to the wrong Moab address, called them, and asked to cancel or reschedule, which their website states is ok. They said no, and they have been fighting with our credit card company for months refusing to give us a refund or let us reschedule. I would understand if we had actually gone on the tour, or they had at least called us back in advance, but this is not a good way to operate. read more

We went on a full day rafting trip, the actual rafting time spent is about 3 hours. Some of the rafters were late which caused the entire day become tardy as well. There's a 45 minute drive down to the river and a short hike included. Lunch was provided, we have bean and salad burritos which were yummy! Great trip overall, class III was ok, it would probably be better if the water level were higher. The service was great, the guides were all college students which was awesome. read more

My wife and i had a great time on the day trip. You meet at 8:30 and are back to the shop around 3:30. Very nice lunch, vegetarian burritos, and they were very tasty. Our trip was the first week of August so the water was not running that high. We have been on bigger rapids on different rivers, but this is a very good way to see the park. Great way to see the geology aspects of the park and we also saw some Big Horn Sheep. Great trip for first timers and a great way to see the park. The staff was very friendly. read more

I just returned from four days of rafting (a good mix of whitewater and flat-water) and camping with an amazing group of people on Adrift's "Rivers of Babylon" Specialty trip through Dinosaur National Monument. This was a solo trip for me as I needed to get away and put my life back in perspective. Javi and his crew at Adrift were amazing. I had no problems booking this trip and all my calls and emails were answered in a timely manner. The guides are professional, educational, energetic, and excellent culinary camping chefs (the food is really the only thing that is not primitive on this trip, and it is plentiful and excellent) really just good people with a really good vibe. They were always there to assist or answer any of your questions regarding camping, the environment, rafting.. whatever, they always made time for you. The scenery on this trip is indescribable... like taking a picture of the Grand Canyon... you cant really do it.. you must experience it... the only way to see this amazing place is by raft...The number of trips through this National Park is limited so human impact is limited as well. The environment is pristine.. like stepping back in time. You add primitive camping and a plethora of amazing hiking opportunities (pristine creeks, rivers, deer, mountain goats, waterfowl and birds of all kinds, plants beyond count, waterfalls, meadows, canyons, craggy cliffs and mind boggling sky high canyon walls) it makes a spectacular trip for anyone; Solo, an adventurous couple, friends, or a family (there is an age restriction). Make no mistake. This is not a hyped up Disneyland. This is remote primitive camping in the natural world where your transportation to amazing camping sites is by raft. There are no roads and there is no communication in or out via cellphone. The people in our group (including Javi and the guides) were from all over. Everyone together is what made this trip so successful IMO. From Canada to Cuba, to Bahamas, Texas and Hawaii. All different personalities and life experiences that we all got to share and enjoy. Each person I met was very cool and special in their own way. There was no drama. There was camaraderie and friendship and everyone helped and supported each other. There was also ample time to spend with your own thoughts.. your own contemplation of your place in the World... its that kind of environment. you make this trip what you want.. This was an Adrift "Specialty Trip" and we had two amazing individuals each with their own special gifts; International reggae singer/songwriter/storyteller Mishka and his young son, and Reda Boustani a certified Baptiste yoga instructor/life coach. We were invited to experience each of these wonderful individuals special gifts. Mishka played around the campfire each evening and even on the flat-water though Echo Park! Was a wonderful experience. And Reda invited us for morning yoga to relax our mind, body, and spirit. He also was the mind behind several of our amazing meals. (All of the meals were prepared fresh with quality and nutritious ingredients) it was nice to spend time with them during this experience.. Adrift put together a well organized, fun, adventurous trip with no hassles. Do not hesitate to book a trip with them. In fact, my new annual solo trip will be a specialty trip with Adrift Dinosaur. Just do it... you will not regret it. read more

A group of twelve at Dinosaur National Monument for a family campout in July. Yeah. 100 degree heat, ants, and in-laws... What's not to love? Fortunately for our sanity, Adrift was flexible and took last minute reservations for their full-day trips. Guides were outgoing, funny, and always safety conscious. The trip included a tour of some truly beautiful petroglyphs and pictographs, great wildlife, as well as a stop to tour a very cool hidden cave. Lunch was provided on a secluded beach on the river. They took kiddos over 6 years old/50 lbs, so this day on the Green River was the high point for our 7yo and 8yo cousins (who now both want to become river guides when they grow up). The trip was well worth the money, with vistas, wildlife, experiences and lessons to cherish. Almost makes a week with the in-laws worthwhile. read more

This was our first river trip ever. Had no idea what to expect, but we followed the packing list. This is not Disneyland, however, and its important to understand that these folks aren't mind readers, so they don't know if you're having a bad time-- you have to tell them. So being an adult, and making sure you have wide-brimmed hats and sunscreen and DEET and drinking plenty of water and having whatever you need to make it through to a late lunch or dinner--because 'sometimes the river doesn't cooperate.' (However, if they find out you're not spectacular, they are falling over themselves trying to help change it for you--feeding you, giving you duct tape to fix a broken tent, etc.) I think that's the main reason for the 5 stars here-- this won't be the most luxurious trip with people setting up your tent for you, etc. And if you're willing, they'll put you to work here and there. But it might be the best food you can get in the middle of nowhere, and it might have the best guides, there's more than enough excitement for most of us, and the locations are unparalleled in their beauty and ruggedness. I recommend this for anyone capable of following safety instructions and getting in and out of an inflatable boat quickly. read more

My sister and I took a 4-day whitewater rafting trip with Adrift through Dinosaur National Monument in mid-July. It was an amazing experience! Equal parts adventure, awe, relaxation, thrills and new friendships. The guides were all very passionate about their job. They each had a lot of historic and geological knowledge about the canyon and were consummate rafting pros. They went above and beyond by playing guitar and mandolin for us st night, read us inspirational quotes and were fantastic cooks. Such a great trip! I am ready to do it all again sometime soon! read more

These guys are okay -- not spectacular, but worth using if you're in the area. The guides aren't very professional (seemed like they were kind of winging it sometimes), but I never felt unsafe. They pre-launch safety/technique instructions were confusing/rambling, and the descriptions/stories about petroglyphs and other sights were silly and not as amusing as the guides seemed to think. We took a 1-day float down the Green River through Dinosaur NM. The class 3 rapids were fun for everyone, especially the kids (including one who was under the official 6-year-old/50 lb minimum), but the rest of the river was a lot of paddling into the wind. Can't blame the outfitters for the river, but it wasn't as fun as other rafting trips I've been on. If you want rafting adventure, head for steeper mountains with faster water. If you want scenery and a less-crowded river, this is a good option, and these outfitters are a decent choice. There aren't many rafts allowed on this river, and the slow float periods give you a lot of time to appreciate the natural beauty around you. read more

My friends and I did the 4-day Lodore-Whirlpool, and Split Mountain Canyon trip. Our guides (Dan and Braydon) were FANTASTIC. They were very knowledgeable about the history, the pre-history, and the geology of this stretch of the Green (and other stretches on the Colorado River basin). They were very personable and absolutely excellent oarsman. I have been on many rafting trips before and was super impressed by their skills. It was a joy to watch them negotiate the rapids. The food was excellent and there was PLENTY of it. Emmett's Mom's Chili on the last night was the highlight of the trip. I am coming back to do the Yampa with Adrift! read more

This used to be the best rafting company anywhere, but they have gone downhill. For the first time ever I lost weight on a raft trip. The food used to be gourmet - now it is budget. We scheduled the one day Green River trip for our family (husband, wife, sons ages 7 and 9). We had a great experience. We had never been rafting before. The rapids we encountered may not be what you are looking for if you are a huge thrill seeker, but for us were the perfect level of fun without having to worry that our kids were going to be shot out of the boat. The natural scenery is beautiful, and the petroglyphs were amazing to see. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and was able to explain a lot about the geography and the Fremont people. It was a fun and educational day. Would recommend to any family exploring the area. read more

I did the Lodore Canyon trip with these guys, 4 days on the Green River starting at Dinosaur National Monument and ending back at their home base in Jensen, UT. Can't say enough about the trip, the guides, the food, and the entire experience. But I will try: The guides were young guys, very nice and very knowledgeable about the river, and everything that it entails. They worked very hard at every stop--we'd pull over for lunch, and within 10 minutes they would have it on the table. Coffee was waiting for us when we woke up in the mornings, dinner was outstanding every evening. Good quality food, prepared well, and lots of it. Campsites were very pleasant and shady, with plenty of flat spots for tents. They were well-stocked with supplies, so all you really needed to bring was a tent, pad, & blanket (or sleeping bag if the weather were cooler), some clothes to protect you from the sun, and a few basic supplies like a flashlight, water bottle, camera, etc. (all need to be in ziploc bags or something, because your stuff is likely to get a bit wet). They provided all the food & water you need. I actually couldn't believe how much stuff they fit onto these rafts. The river itself wasn't super exciting (it was August, so water levels were a bit low), although there were definitely some rapids that caused the heart rate to pick up a bit. But there were several amazing stops along the way where we were able to hike up to see canyon vistas, petroglyphs, waterfalls, fresh springs, etc. The place is magical, and the whole canyon is gorgeous. A 4-day/3-night trip is not for the faint of heart (maybe a bit too much for young kids), but I was impressed with the level of comfort the whole time. If a trip like this is your cup of tea, I can't recommend these folks highly enough. read more

On our Yampa expedition I really had the experience of a lifetime. The ways in which the adrift guides showed up really made the trip a lot of fun. While this trip was a class for Western, the trip never really felt like a class despite how much we learned! Not only did I learn a lot, but this trip re-awakened my love for the river and river expeditions. I immediately came home and started kayaking again. The collaboration between Western Colorado University (WCU) and Adrift has been happening for a long time and is something that has inspired many Western students to become raft guides, in fact, a few of the guides we met and even worked with were WCU grads. Dr. Mark Gibson, a Western professor, has worked with and guided for adrift for over twenty years. We helped the Adrift crew get ready for the season as well as some housekeeping things around the boathouse! They then proceeded to provide us with one of my favorite expeditions and experiences I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of. Our guides were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, answering any questions we had about the Yampa canyon. They were friends in camp and strong commanding guides on the river. There was never a point I felt uncomfortable physically or emotionally. We were constantly being taught about all sorts of things that happened in the canyon. On the first day we stopped for lunch to learn about a gentleman named Stubs who's cabin is a ruin in the canyon, as well as about some of the fossils in this area well. We got to learn about the first people who ran the river on old military rafts and even got to go in a cave that had pictographs and writings from both the natives of the area and the pioneers of the Yampa river valley. I also learned about how the Yampa is one of the last free flowing tributaries to the Colorado river and that the only reason it wasn't damned was because of the amount of sediment it moves. I was also taught about the permit process for these rivers and learned how difficult it is to acquire one and not only that but the reasoning for it. The big things for me that I had forgotten about and relearned was how comfortable you can be on a river trip like this. It is car camping and then some in a super remote place that a car would never be able to get to. This trip sparked my fire for the river again. Growing up I was a big kayaker and in the last few years I hadn't been in a boat. The Yampa reminded me how special the river is and how much is can do for you. When we took off, I dreaded having to pull my phone back out! I learned how easy it is to be 100% authentic on the river. You never have to try, it felt like any walls that anyone might have had up dropped as soon as we hit the water. These field based classes that we have at WCU are special classes. They are a place where students can learn, practice and reinforce both technical and interpersonal skills. They are structured in a way that the experience is what you learn from the most. They are highlights if my college career and this Yampa trip was the by far the best experience I had at Western Colorado University. Whether you are a Western student or just someone looking for an incredible experience this is it. The guides at Adrift are top tier and provide a world class experience. The Yampa River canyon is a special place and having the Adrift crew just made even more special. read more

During a Western Colorado University trip down the Yampa River, I had the pleasure of working and learning from Adrift Dinosaur. As a student who has spent a lot of guided trips down rivers throughout Colorado and Utah, this was by far the most life changing experience led by the efforts of Adrift. From getting to experience not only oar boats, I got to experience paddle boats, ducky boats, and stand up paddle boards. The Yampa and Green River are beautiful, life changing areas and Adrift strives to make the history of the area known and appreciated. This expedition with Adrift went above and beyond any expectation with fun, knowledge, and a sense of bonding to the area. Annie, Ellie, and Celeste are all badass women who are inspiring and bring a whole new meaning to being a women on the river. This was meaningful and powerful to see various backgrounds all come together in one area through their kind teachings and sharing of knowledge. Owen, Tyler, Charlie, and PepperJack are all hilarious and make each day on the river an adventure full of laughs and joy, as a river trip should be. Having gone on multiple river trips, Adrift prepared everyone above and beyond through river safety discussions, in depth gear packing list, and frequent check-ins so that you never felt out of the loop or in danger at any point during the trip. Each campsite was breathtaking and different from one another and the camp food surpassed anything that I have made, even at home. The location of cliff faces, "painted walls", and beaches never grew old and were breathtaking to wake up to every morning with the never ending view of the river. Wildlife and flora are abundant and ever changing with various bird species, bighorn sheep, beavers, and diverse plant life such as Mormon tea and Pinon pine tress. The dynamics of the whitewater were also fascinating having to navigate certain terrain and learning to read the river patterns, yet the guides were absolute professionals and took on each challenge with a smile. This trip was life changing with beautiful scenery, amazing music by Tyler Grant, and getting to experience not only the last free flowing river in Colorado, but the rich history that it carries. Adrift strives to build meaningful bonds of the individual to the river, and however that may look to you, whether it be laughing around a fire eating devious meals, learning of the history with the area through petroglyphs and pictographs, or spending the days watching the river roll past, Adrift meets all expectations and above. Through this trip, I not only learned about rivers with an amazing group, but the importance of conservation within these areas, the threats that dams and humans can have and the significance that the Yampa River holds for past, present, and future river runners. read more

Keep the Yampa Wild and Free These are the words that will be singing in my heart and mind for my life time. I'm a student at Western State University in the Outdoor Recreation and Education major and had the opportunity of a lifetime; To float 72 miles of untouched, beautiful, mind blowing, unhindered water through three canyons and humbling environments. Our adventure started at the Adrift boat house where we met co-owners Javier and Buckley with their staff that we would be floating with. My dear friend Dan was our trip leader (he did an amazing job), Schmidty one of the guides (great witty humor that kept me laughing the entire trip), Mike Uttley (amazing knowledge of the canyons and a fantastic musician), Bradley (a white-water SUP guide and professional rider), and Luke (an amazing SUP guide and instructor). I remember how anxious I was driving down to Dinosaur where our trip began and ended it was after our first briefing and meeting that my anxiety was subdued by meeting all the guides and owners, knowing we were in more than capable hands. On put in day we loaded up all the gear, said our farewells to the helpful ranger and took off away from civilization. It was in the silty, chocolate milk looking Yampa river that I found my next calling. This experience has made we want to pursue a career in raft and stand up paddle board guiding. Over 5 days and 4 nights I was continuously humbled, filled with gratitude and excited through every bend and every rapid. I will keep the rapids a secret so when you find yourself flowing down them alongside one of the amazing guides you will have your own experience with no preconceived notions. To anyone who is looking for an adventure that many will never have in their lifetimes and an adventure that will have a forever lasting impression on your life and those you surround yourself with then you need to get on your phone or laptop surf over to Adrift.com or call 800.824.0150 and make a reservation for an adventure you won't regret. It may even leave you wanting to quite your 9-5 office job and become an environmental steward of the free flowing Yampa River system or any other beautiful piece of wilderness for that matter I know that was the end result for me. The picture above is me geeking out over really cool dinosaur bones. We were able to watch the local school kids release endangered native trout species into the green river. read more

I was blown away by my trip with Adrift down the Yampa this May! I was lucky enough to join in on Adrift's annual Guide Training trip this year as a WCU ROE student and it was truly life changing. I had never done a multi-day river trip prior to this experience, so I came in with little knowledge and some nerves about what it would be like. The Adrift guides explained the trip in great detail, ran use through rigorous river safety talks, and introduced use to the incredible history and importance of the Yampa all prior to embarking on our trip. Once we were on the river, we quickly all became a part of the Adrift family, making great friends with the guides and becoming closer with our classmates. The guides vast knowledge of the river, its history, and how to run white water made you feel safe while keeping you constantly engaged. Floating down the Yampa deep between the canyon walls was a magical experience, some sections featured magnificent "painted walls", others staggered cliff faces, and broad sandy beaches where we would set up camp. Each campsite was breathtaking with stunning views and serine hikes. The food at camp was some of the best I have had, far surpassing what I ever thought I could have on a camping trip. Each night around the fire we would tell stories, play games, or listen to Tyler Grant a musician who is now a certified guide with Adrift play beautiful songs. We saw tons of wildlife on our trip like mountain goats, bald eagles, beavers, falcons, among countless other birds. Running the rapids and white water of the trip was thrilling with dynamic challenges from dodging rocks to large waves. The guides gave use great confidence with them running through these rapids with no difficulty allowing use to fully enjoy the experience with little fear. I learned a ton from this trip about river culture, the history of the area, the sad truths of dams, and about the importance of protecting beautiful areas like this for future generations to experience. If you are looking for an adventure, an escape, or a change in perspective I couldn't recommend Adrift more, they provided me with a life changing experience that I will never forget! read more

Dear Adrift Dinosaur, I have gone on two trips with you so far and will be doing a third trip in August. The first trip I did with you was to the Gates of Lodore back in 2023. This was my first time ever rafting! I was able to go on this trip because of Western Colorado University's WBO (Wilderness Based Orientation program). Doing this trip changed my life forever. I was going into college as a Mechanical Engineering major but swapped one week in to become a Recreation and Outdoor Education major because of it. This may I got to go on the Yampa River with you because of a class I took in the ROE (Recreation & Outdoor Education) program. This is really beneficial and valuable for both Western and Adrift because the students get to learn a lot and have fun, and in return a lot of Westerns ROE students end up working at Adrift in the future. The professional Raft Guides that make up the Adrift crew are amazing. They made it a safe trip but a fun and informational trip as well. We got hands on experience from these guides and made real connections with them. I learned a lot on this trip for example I learned how to properly tie down the boats when they are dock, I learned how to cook and shop for multiple days on the river, I learned about crypto dirt and what it does, I learned about the people that lived there before and saw their pictographs, and more. I also learned a lot about myself of this trip for example if I don't go to sleep at a reasonable time I will have a really hard time getting up in the morning, I also learned I will always scram if a bee is near me, I learned that I love the river and want to guide in my future, I learned that if I actually apply sunscreen regularly I won't burn, lastly I learned that you are family when you are on the river. Field based classes like this one are so important for my learning as an ROE major because you get real life hands on experance you dont get in a regular classroom setting. I am looking forward to another great trip with you in august! Sincerely, Jax H. read more

I recently attended a guided raft tour with Adrift Dinosaur in collaboration with a Western Colorado University (WCU) field experience course. The purpose of the five-day tour (plus two days logistical work) on the Yampa River was to give the students in the Recreation and Outdoor Education (ROE) program a firsthand look at how an amazing river guiding company operates. Unlike a standard guest tour, we worked hand and hand with the staff, learning how to manage gear, food, people (both guests and employees), and time. It started with building up all of the gear and ended with proper storage of the gear when we returned to the boathouse seven days later. We found the gear in winter storage, so we also learned proper storage techniques and how to bring it all properly back into service. We also witnessed the massive amounts of administrative logistics and then the field application of the paper planning in reality. That reality being on the river itself. Time moves differently there; river time is smoother and less demanding, things happen exactly when they are supposed to happen, no sooner. Working with the folks at Adrift Dinosaur has given me a unique insight into exactly how much effort goes into a river tour, making it perfect takes an enormous amount of skill and knowledge applied though teamwork. The opportunity for an ROE student to get this type of experience is priceless; no book can describe how a river runs, no picture can capture the feelings created by the forces of nature that tore through the landscape over thousands, or even millions, of years. Being able to witness the exquisite beauty of Dinosaur National Monument by river is the only way to understand. Sure, there are drive in view and camping in some flat areas; however, they are different: they are disconnected. Learning how to share that experience with others through this raft tour was amazing; to be able to provide everything for the five-day experience is a special skill that one day each student will hopefully be adept in. read more

I just finished a five day river trip down the Yampa river with Adrift. I would first like to say that the staff at Adrift (Javi, Dan, Mike, Schmitty, Bradley, Buckley, and Trinity) are an exceptional group of guides and people. When I first arrived at Adrift with some fellow classmates, the staff made us feel included and treated us like part of the family. When we put in on the river, the guides went into great detail about rafting white water, rowing a boat, river safety, local history, and Yampa history. We floated through beautiful canyons that exposed weaver sand stone, Morgan formation and other rock layers that are millions of years old! Each day that we floated brought more beauty with every bend on the river. We enjoyed delicious meals on the beach and at the most beautiful campsites that I have ever seen. I was able to get to know the guides and my fellow classmates on a deeper level and I attribute that to the Yampa and a wonderful staff making it a stress free and open environment. Dan gave an eye opening interpretive speech about the Yampa, it's history and how it could be in danger from diverting water from the river and how the Yampa is the last FREE FLOWING RIVER IN COLORADO, which makes it a candidate for a dam to be built on the river. This made me think about all the beauty that I had seen on my trip and how it could be ruined and under water if a dam were to be built on the river. I am so thankful for the opportunity that I was given to go on this trip and I will be back for another trip with Adrift and I will be doing my part to protect the river and use less water. I highly recommend this trip with Adrift down the Yampa river, you will be glad that you did! KEEP THE YAMPA WILD!!!!!! read more

Just one week ago our group got off the river from a five-day trip down the Yampa and Green rivers. Its amazing to see what a few days on the river can do for a group! Most of us had just finished another semester while others had just graduated, and we were all in need of an experience like this to kick off the summer. There was no shortage of activities on this trip, some of which included: hiking, interpretation, cave exploration, yoga, the yampy campy talent show, a costume night and of course a bunch of paddling! From whitewater to silent floats, there is something for everyone in this trip! The guides (Dan, Utley, Schmidty, Luke, Buckley, Bradley, and two of the most rad whitewater women, Trinity and Annie), shared so much knowledge, made everyone feel welcome and comfortable on the water and turned us all into stewards for this wild river! Although our group was large, the guides did an excellent job taking care of us. We ate amazing meals (pesto gnocchi and southwest corn chowder to name a few), gained experience and knowledge about whitewater (like scouting rapids, LNT and rescue techniques) and never once felt like our group was a hassle or inconvenience for the guides. You can tell that they love what they do, love where the do it and love sharing it with others. Some of us came into this trip as strangers but we all left as family. I'll never forget this trip or the people I shared it with. If you get the opportunity to take a trip with this amazing company, DO IT! You'll leave with a love and respect for the water, amazing memories and most importantly you'll want to KEEP THE YAMPA WILD!!! read more

I recently spent 5 days on the Yampa with Adrift. I have spent a lot of time outdoors, and I can tell you honestly that this trip was one of the most special experiences I have had. Our large group of students had the pleasure of being guided down the river by 10 Adrift guides, all of whom were knowledgable, hilarious and down to earth. The painted Canyon walls rose around us and surrounded us in magnificence and a wild, ancient energy. The river was powerful and wild, and turned gentle and soft every now and again. The river banks were teeming with life and greenery, and at every campsite we stayed at I was lulled to sleep by the sound of rushing water and singing bugs. The Adrift guides are knowledgable not only in river navigation, but also provided wonderful interpretation of the cultural elements of the resource. Along the river we stopped at multiple petroglyph sites and caves, and each was stirring and left me feeling small and humbled in the best way. I constantly found myself trying to look everywhere at once during this trip, simultaneously feeling a need to stay as still as possible during the gentle parts in order to best experience the canyon's presence. I highly recommend this trip to anyone and everyone. I hope that you will be transformed by the rapids and the stories embedded in the canyon walls. The Adrift guides are quality human beings that have their practice down to a science. I highly recommend finding yourself on a raft with these folks. read more

As a student in the Western Colorado University Recreational Outdoor Education program, you're immediately brought into a community the second you start your first class. Students are allowed the amazing opportunities of having part of their classroom time being on field-based courses including a river intensive, water-based course. There is no possible place that would be a better match for the community created in the ROE program at Western then Adrift adventures. At Western, students value the constructive setup and peer learning opportunities of the program that allow them exposure and experience in the field; these learning priorities are matched perfectly with Adrift Adventures in Dinosaur, Utah. The company fosters the student's abilities and allows them many opportunities to learn, giving them a chance to ask any questions about technical abilities and about working in the industry, hone their skills, and give them advice. The professionalism and passion seen in the staff at Adrift perfectly represent what the recreational outdoor education major promotes and is essential in advancing the schooling of the students. For anyone with interest in the industry, desire to advance their technical knowledge, or simply looking for an amazing experience on the river, they don't need to look any farther than Adrift Adventures. I cannot reiterate enough what an amazing company Adrift is- the experiences they facilitate are unlike anywhere else. read more

Don't count the days, make the days count with Adrift Adventures . Our audacious journey through the journey to the center of the earth was two score days ago, but what remains with us are memes of a lifetime . The voyage beings with a 30 minute drive, followed by a short hike which was a huge plus to see a number of historic Native American hieroglyphics. HUGE Pocahontas and Sacagawea fan here. The tour guide was very knowledge about these. Following the short hike was the rafting. After a 5-10 minutes of safety instructions, we were all in. If you're terrible at rafting and you're with kids/family, the guides will kindly instruct you how to improve your technique. If you're terrible rafting and you aren't in a family oriented group, you will get roasted from a guide about how (like yours truly) and it's pretty hilarious. I'm no Aquaholic, but these guides make it fun for anybody. Knowledgable about the area with great stories to tell (Ask about Josie!!). Rapids were pretty mild the day we went (none higher than a class 3), but was still all a lot of fun. A few caves to see along the way. Lunch was served about half-way through the expedition down the Yuma. Yummy. Trip concluded to be about 6 hours in total. Well worth it. One last take away from the day is that guides Ellie and Owen are America's power-couple of the decade. Thank you for the memorable experience. And the rest is the future. Wears your paddle. #EllieOwenAdrift2020 read more

My husband and I wanted to do something fun for our anniversary. I found Adrift Adventures on-line and they offer a day rafting trip, perfect for a one day get away. We were excited that the day trip was more than a river raft ride. Before the river, the guides showed us the Fremont petroglyph panels carved in the rocks. At the end, they took us to a hidden cave along the Green River. The cave might have been a hideout for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid after bank robberies. The guides from start to finish were professional, great cooks and knowledgeable about the area. We learned about the natives that lived in the area to the geological formation of the rocks along the river bank. The Guides prepared a hand washing station and lunch was set up within 5 minutes. The lunch was Taco Salad, super flavorful and easy to eat. The guides shared many facts about the area while safely guiding us down the river. The only thing that sucks about this rafting trip were the mosquitoes (badum bum!) Seriously, the guide said it was mosquito's season. Between both guides and the 9 of us guests on the trip, none of us had a can of bug spray. Being a city girl I was proud I remembered sunscreen. I would suggest that before departing Adrift Adventures they would have or sell or at least mention sunscreen and bug spray. Today instead of remembering the fun rafting trip I am itching and whiny. Little things like that seal the deal. read more

Warm, red walls of sandstone rise up and up from the playful meandering of the Yampa River. Echoes of ancients resonant within, their stories etched in rock as petroglyphs and pictographs. The rocks have their own stories too. Dinosaur bones. Seashells. Transformation. This five day trip down the Yampa and Green Rivers both transcended time and wrote new stories. Stories that are powerful, exhilarating, and life changing. Playing drums around the fire at Tepee camp, doing yoga in Signature Cave, cheering on the boats navigating Warm Springs rapid, splashing in waterfalls of Box Elder camp, and hanging out with some of the raddest people I know - each memory is unforgettable. The Adrift guides that shared this incredible experience with us - Dan, Annie, Mike, Luke, Utley, Bradley, Trinity and Buckley - are passionate, friendly and competent in everything that they do. Top-notch boatmanship, geological and archaeological interpretation, knowledge of flora and fauna, and just all around badass cool cats that love to share this magical place with others. For me, going through the silent float section for the Yampa and Green River confluence, I let go of the past, of things that I have let hold me back in my life. No more looking back, my eyes are downstream, the future is bright and exciting. Ride the wave. I am forever grateful and forever changed. May the river change you. Keep the Yampa River wild. read more

My experience with adrift showed me what true, full life feels like. The river allowed us to be ourselves which made for an entertaining, vulnerable, and carefree wild yampa float. The guides lead us to the river, the SUP boards, and the ancient rock caves but it was always our decision to jump in, to ride the wave, and take our first steps to see the history and build community on this river. Every person was respected on their journey of white water skill level and that skill level was always good enough! Luke (guide) said he truly wants every person to try being on the river to understand it's not as hard as people think, and Trinity (the best lady SUP guide) taught us that "you do enough, you have enough, and you are enough." The guides are passionate to teach and show their passion and, for most of them, their favorite river. When you travel with adrift, you won't want to leave the beautiful and wild river, but like all things time passes and you will return to your same life, however you will not be the same person. This float will erode and form you like it has done to the rocks. You will remember the trip you had and will continue to share the stories, memories, and reasons to keep this river wild. It will be like being in Echo Park. You will never regret being on a trip with adrift dino, and if you're looking for another participant please contact me. read more

This place ruined our family vacation! First of all, I thought I was booking in Moab at the "other" Adrift location (which was my bad!) but I called 4 times before we went to ask about it because the only one that was on the map in Utah near the green river (where we flew in from San Diego, rented an RV with our 7 year old and stayed) was in Moab. They never called me back until of course the morning of the event, when I had already driven to Adrift Adventures in Moab and learned that we had no reservation. My Son was DEVASTATED :( on top of that, they told me I could "reschedule" and never called me back or responded to my MULTIPLE emails asking for someone to call me. When I disputed the charge as fraud on my credit card- since we could not reschedule seeing as nobody ever called us back, they had the audacity to send their cancellation policy which clearly states I can reschedule!!!! What the heck! They ruined our family vacation, scarred my son, and stole my money. DO NOT TRUST this place!! Now I have to file a small claims court case and contact the Better Business Bureau to fight for a refund, but I'm hoping that if they don't respond to my emails or calls maybe they will see this review and call me back finally! Now they are not calling me back and telling the credit card company that I went on the trip!!! Shame!! read more

I recently went on an Adrift trip with my University, it was an absolute TREAT! Adrift dinosaur, and Western Colorado University's ROE program are a legendary duo! The partnership of these two programs are truly a part of river history. As like minded institutions Western and Adrift work together to educate and inspire the next generation of leaders that will respect the rivers cultural and natural history. Both technical skills and heart skills are necessary in this industry. Together Adrift, and Western teach one to read the river. They have well trained guides and mentors that teach one to scout rapids and understand how to maneuver white water. To be changed by the water you must respect it and understand it from many angles. Adrift and Western educate on river permits and outfitting requirements that allow people to come and build a relationship with the water. This seamless duo doesn't leave out the heart. The partnership ushers young enthusiasts to carry out expedition behavior, planning, and leadership skills that allow one to truly interact with a group in nature. All in all the river needs Western and Adrift to stick together. Doing so will keep the river available for everyone to build, and maintain their current, future, and past relationships. read more

I was lucky enough to be apart of a crazy and inspiring adventure with Adrift. Several fellow students and I took a 5 day rafting trip down the last free flowing river in the Colorado system. While deep into the gorgeous canyon away from cell reception I truly was able to take a step back from "the real world" and enjoy a trip that will stay in my memory forever. The guides on this trip Dan, Mike, Utley, Trinity and many others really helped to bring an awesome time not just on the river but in camp also. I could easily see the passion that all these guides have for such a wonderful place. They taught me so much of rowing, stand up paddle boarding, and being in a ducky. They also showed us the importance of river safety, LNT principals, and the best ways to scout rapids. I never felt unsafe or discomfort being around the guides or group I was with. The history of this canyon and the Fremont Native Americans was amazing and these guides were so knowledgeable about all of it. I am currently finishing up school and am taking a White Water Guide Training course just so I can go back and work here next year. I would not go to any other rafting company down the yampa or green river. ADRIFT IS WHERE IT IS AT!! KEEP THE YAMPA WILD!! read more

Adrift propelled my inspiration and love for the outdoors and especially the rivers. Their guides, Annie, Mike, Dan, Bradley, Trinity, Buckley, Luke, and Utley found creative and intriguing ways to inform us about the natural history in the area. From hiking up to Mantle and Whisper caves, admiring the petroglyphs on the walls, to simply conversing about the flora and fauna in the area, it was clear that these individuals had a deep connection with the area. Their profound passion motivates me to look back to the past of this hidden gem of space and recognize its importance to all walks of life. Wanting to inform people of this unforgettable experience carries with it the concern for the future. How can we as a group help preserve this grandiose section of history? From the drum circles to the late night laughs and hysterical talent show, this entire trip was filled with great vibes and extraordinary people. The bond we shared as a group and to the environment will be everlasting. In what other surroundings would one want to learn new skills and ideas? I thank all that were involved for this opportunity and the fire that has been lit in my heart. I reach out to the hesitant; the tentative, you are being called. Your move. read more

I had the opportunity to experience the Yampa on a five day trip with the amazing staff of Adrift Adventures Dinosaur. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable about the surrounding area and I was able to learn about the geology, natural history, rafting history and much more. We had the opportunity to go on hikes to see petroglyphs and pictographs and learn about the Fremont culture that inhabited the canyon a 1000 years ago. Each guide was approachable and willing to assist every participant excel. This experience opened up the world of whitewater rafting to me and I was able to fall in love with the Yampa. My favorite day on this trip was the day we reached the confluence of the Yampa and the Green at Echo Park. This day began with a reading of a poem called A Hopi Elder Speaks. Upon completion of the reading we embarked on a silent float from our camp site to the confluence. This was an amazing reflective experience and I am so thankful that Adrift facilitated this moment. A huge thank you to Adrift and our guides Dan, Annie, Utley, Bradley, Schmidty, Luke, Buckley and Trinity for a fantastic week of rafting, standup paddle boarding, and duckying! read more

Where do I even start? I was fortunate enough to be apart of the greatest trip down the Yampa ever and my favorite week of my life by far. After a busy semester and working to graduate early, I was ready for a break and some time away. Little did I know I was about to embark on the most surreal and amazing time I've ever had on the river. From the beginning of the trip Adrift and their staff took care of us as well as helped us grow and experience the river in a whole new way. The whole week was breathtaking and reminded me why I am trying to spend my life on the river. The whole experience was one of a kind and I hope in the future I can go back and spend another week on the Wild Yampa with the Adrift Crew. Scratch that, I will be spending another week or even a few summers with the Adrift Crew and the Wild Yampa. Shout out to the guide crew that took on the biggest trip of there career, Dan, Utley, Schmidty, Buckley, Trinity, Luke, Bradley and Annie. The most rad group I have had the pleasure of meeting and spending a week with. Until next time, Cheers. read more
