I don't know why this place has such bad reviews. I've been going here for roughly 15 years and I have switched doctors only because my original doctor moved away. Currently I see Dr Lucero and she is now helping me through menopause with hormone replacement. I've never had a problem with scheduling appointments or any of the front desk staff, they've always been nice to me. I also love that you can do your mammogram in the same offices and they usually are pretty quick with getting that done. read more

I was a patient at this facility for over 22 years with a doctor that retired. Let me start by saying that I love Dr. Lucero. However, since Asencion took over this facility the front desk staff and customer service is horrible. Phone calls are not answered and calls are not returned. At my last annual appointment I wanted to book in advance to avoid scheduling issues and they will not allow you to book an appointment more than 6 months in advance. My husband and I made the decision that we were ready to start trying for a baby. For the 10 years that we've been together, I've either been on the pill (which gave me headaches) or had a hormonal or nonhormonal IUD. Back in my hometown, I was blessed with an OBGYN that my own mom went to and liked. Since I couldn't bring Dr. Coe with me to Texas, I was on my own this time. I ended up finding Dr. Lucero at Oakwood through a health concierge app that's offered through my employer, called HealthJoy. I told HealthJoy's chat feature what I was looking for and how far I was willing to travel. They definitely delivered here. My first appointment was at the end of March, to get caught up on all of the womanly stuff and talk baby-making. Much to my appreciation, Dr. Lucero wasn't just out to toss me in a paper gown and throw me in the stirrups. She acknowledged that seeing a new doctor can be stressful, and took the time to chat with me about what we were hoping to do. She patiently answered my questions, gave me time to change, and was very considerate during her exam. I decided to jump the gun after my visit and scheduled the next appointment for removing my IUD the second week of August. I was a bag of nerves, and was second-guessing my decision the whole week leading up to it. I'd had one removed (and immediately replaced with another) before, and the aftermath wasn't super fun. Again, Dr. Lucero read my mind with exactly how I was feeling, and reassured me everything was okay. And just like that, it was done! We also went over how things would work initially when it came to preggo time, how delivery would work out, and when my first appointments would be. I've been so impressed that I've already recommended her to three of my neighbors, one of which was already about 7 months pregnant! The reason I'm doing 4 stars instead of 5 is the front office itself. The ladies at the desk weren't exactly warm and fuzzy, and had that clinical way of speaking that could be interpreted as "listen and don't ask questions". Misdiagnosed Miscarriage I had my first appointment 6 weeks pregnant. My ultrasound with the sonogram tech showed baby looked good with a heartbeat in a healthy range. At 10 weeks pregnant, Dr. Harrison was unable to find a heartbeat on the Doppler so she did an abdominal ultrasound. She diagnosed me with a missed miscarriage and said baby stopped growing at 6 weeks, 6 days and no longer had a heartbeat. I did not have any miscarriage symptoms so this was a surprise to me. She was very kind when telling me and allowed my husband to come in during COVID restrictions so we could discuss our options and decide next steps together. I decided to start with medication to help expedite a miscarriage. After completing the medication and waiting one week, I still had no miscarriage symptoms. I sent a message through the portal to ask about next steps; she prescribed a second round of the medication. She did not ask me to come in for a follow up scan or bloodwork. After completing the second round of medication and still no miscarriage symptoms, I started to question if it was possible I had been misdiagnosed. I began researching about how miscarriages are diagnosed and was shocked to find that not one of the standard tests had been done. This was my first baby and I did not know the standard protocol for diagnosing a miscarriage. One abdominal scan in the first trimester to diagnose a miscarriage is not only not recommended, it's listed as one of the top reasons for the 2% of women that are misdiagnosed. I sent her an email over the portal requesting the measurements from my abdominal scan and it took her 5 days to respond. I would expect a doctor to prioritize a patient that has been carrying a baby with no heartbeat for 5 weeks considering the risk of sepsis, which can be fatal. When she did finally respond, the only information she gave me was that baby was low in my uterus, measured 6 weeks, 6 days and had no heartbeat. She was unable to provide a report (which I received at my 6 week ultrasound) or any of the standard measurements for how she determined the size of my baby. Two weeks after my diagnosis, I got a second opinion at a different practice and they confirmed I was still pregnant and baby was measuring on track. All of this heartache (which includes several more weeks of not knowing if our daughter would be affected by the medication) could have been prevented with a vaginal ultrasound. After letting Dr. Harrison know that she misdiagnosed me she did call to apologize. A few days later I get a call from the office saying I have a $50 balance... I was surprised they didn't waive it given what had just happened but I paid it because I wanted to be done with them. A few more days later, I logged into my portal to view my records and saw that a prescription not recommend for pregnancy (that I wasn't taking) was changed from 'not active' to 'active' within days of informing Dr. Harrison about the misdiagnosis. read more

CPS was called on our 2nd child because I requested early discharge on my perfectly healthy daughter. We are from CA, and it's typically same day discharge after birth and child is confirmed healthy. My wife and I suggested early discharged since we were just in the room doing nothing while our daughter was not being monitored and without any serious or life threatening circumstances. Once we requested early discharge the nurses, and Nurse practitioners became very hostile. Everytime I exited the room they asked my wife if "she felt safe" so the following day they called CPS and the police to my personal residence. My doc retired in January & when I called to make an appointment, they answered the phone with a sigh and acted like they'd rather be tortured than help me. They said, " you were due to come in July. Do not go to this office or see doctor Lucero I went in October 2019 to talk about birth control. We had a 15 minute conversation and then I left. On my way out they took my insurance along with my co-pay. Everything seemed fine! I didn't end up going back. Nine months later I get sent a bill for 180 dollars Confused, thinking this has to be a mistake I call the office. They tell me that my insurance won't pay for the visit. And to call my insurance to talk to them. Call my insurance, they won't pay it. Frustrated because they had already taken my insurance back in October and said I was free to go as long as I paid my co-pay. This was the offices staff fault. I call to explain my situation to someone in the billing department, I can not afford to pay 180 dollars 9 months later for a 15 minute appointment I thought was covered since they said was. After I talked with the staff they rudely said I'll ask the office and let you know. Two weeks later I get a phone call saying I need to pay my bill. Wondering if they were able to lower the amount I go online and check. Nope, still 180! Ok.... since the office never called me I decided to call them back to get an update. Again the same rude person answers the phone and has me wait for 7 minutes while I just hear her type. She says the same thing. " I will submit the bill in the office and get back to you" after I had already told her I submitted it in 2 weeks ago. So I tell her again that someone told me they already submitted the bill 2 weeks ago. So she tries little harder and looks into my file and sure enough the office denied my request to lower the bill! Great, I'm glad that two months to just get the same answer. Not sure how you can run a business so unorganized with rude staff . Definitely would not recommend trusting anyone at this office, all they want is your money. read more

I was just asked about my health info and it reminded me of this place. I went there almost 6 years ago and it's made me NEVER to go back to an OB/GYN. I was having bleeding problems and they spent 4 visits for tests that I didn't need. All I needed was medication but they kept having me do tests since they apparently needed money to scam my insurance company. The medication also took 3 weeks to receive bc the "Dr" took two weeks to call in. WATCH OUT for this place. They want your insurance info to run tests on you that you don't even need. Meanwhile you wait 3 1/2 months to have them fix any problems you're having. This place is pathetic read more

They were awful. I had a cancer screening planned with them for a month which i was freaked out about. I tried to express my medal phobias about having a procedure done and asked if i could record it to retain the information since i would be out of my mind scared and on a benzo to get the procedure done... the nurse said she would ask the doctor and put me on hold for over a half hour till the phone call dropped... then i got a text saying that they canceled my appointment 2 days prior to the apt and that i was no longer going to be their patient. If I could rate them with zero stars, I would. I've been a patient of this practice for many years and have always had great care. Ever since Ascension took over, this practice is TERRIBLE. They don't answer phones and don't return calls if you leave a voice mail. I tried to book an appointment for 2 months but never could get anyone to call me back. I hate that I have to write this because I really do like Dr. Lucero, but I think everyone should be aware of what their experience will look like if they choose to use Oakwood. Communication is non-existent. You will have to call NUMEROUS times and leave NUMEROUS voicemails before anyone calls you back. This is confusing to me because there are always so many people sitting and chatting at the front desk... why can't they answer the phone? This brings me to my next point: When you're standing in line waiting to check in for your appointment, you'll get to hear all about the lives of the women sitting up front. They could care less if you are standing there - they will continue their conversation like you don't exist. If you're unfortunate enough to need labs done here, I'm sorry. Good luck getting your results. I don't think Oakwood realizes it has a patient portal, because they certainly do not utilize it. I have had EXTENSIVE labs done over the last few months, and only have access to TWO results. Two. I had labs drawn this week and they were supposed to be ordered "stat", but they were not. I sent a message in my portal and called repeatedly for my result only to find this out several phone calls later. It's like pulling teeth just to receive any communication from Oakwood and it's honestly far more trouble than it's worth. read more

Avoid Oakwood at all costs if you want personalized care that is truly patient focused. I should have known my experience this go around would go downhill when Dr Anger and Dr Duncan discussed how over booked and frustrated they were while in the elevator with patients present. Doesn't that bode confidence? They hate that they're double/triple booked seeing upwards of 28 patients? Oh and you happen to be one of them? Next would be finding out that my pregnancy likely wasn't viable via a nurse through the patient portal! Yes you read that right, my doctor didn't call to deliver that news, it wasn't worth a phone call. Just a message from the nurse via the portal. When I inquired about next steps, and moving forward, I was given the response that it would be determined at my next appointment 13 days later. I had HCG levels that fell significantly and no heartbeat seen on ultrasound, this was not just a suspicion it may not be viable, everything pointed towards this, but let's wait 13 days to decide what to do with zero guidance as to what may happen in these next 13 days. As my luck would have it, on day 11 I miscarried naturally at home with zero guidance or idea of what to expect thanks to the lack of care. I messaged via the portal to let them know in case there is anything I need to be aware of (I haven't had this occur before) and had an appointment coming up. Yet again this is answered by a nurse, and this is the first time I get an "I'm sorry"/any empathy. The only concern is if I'm nauseous, not in pain, not if I'm okay, but "do you need something for your nausea". When I reply that I'm not nauseous but is there anything I need to look out for, crickets, nothing. Zero response, zero patient education, zero follow up. The only reason I was called the next day was because they had to cancel my follow up due to weather... but again NEVER CALLED BY MY DOCTOR!! They also never updated the ultrasound tech, so I came in for my confirmation ultrasound to make sure I passed everything and poor woman thought I was still pregnant because they didn't update her! So please avoid this antiquated, overbooked practice. I thought I was being picky when I had my second child with them in 2020 but this completely solidified the lack of patient care and very real risks they put patients at by continuing to practice they way they do. I have filed a complaint with the medical board as well, as there is a very clear lack of patient safety and concern that occurred throughout this situation and I know I cannot be the only patient that has experienced this. read more

I am updating my review from a three star to one star. Communication is so poor and it's very hard to get a real person on the phone. I left a message last Friday with my doctor's nurse to ask a question. Today is Tuesday and I did not hear back so I left another message. I then called several extensions trying to get a live person and got to the front desk where they gave the nurse my number to call me back. I left a message with my question via the portal for the nurse and I get a message that it could take two days to get a response back. Nothing like not knowing what to do when you've been spotting for 11 days straight. I'm usually a three strikes and you're out. We have definitely reached three if not four strikes. Wow. I am seriously confused about the special snowflake-ism that runs rampant in some specialties around here! You stare into vaginas all day, people, you're not Wilhelmina Vautrin or Alan Turing or Desmond Tutu (or Nelson or Lincoln or ... and the unendable list goes on (and on) ;P). And yet, you call for an appointment, you leave very SPECIFIC information as to what you need (as one does in such medicine), and when Valerie, who sounds like she, at best, woke up on the wrong side of the bed, and at worst, thinks you're incredibly stupid and unbearable for some unknown reason gives you a call back to schedule, it's like pulling freaking teeth! I get a gyne AND a dentist all in one! Great! So, today when Valerie calls me, she asks me that question a person just can't bear, right? "What was it that you need?" Like... you didn't already say, and like you called them ordering hamburgers instead of needing to see a physician. You repeat yourself, because you really need this, and when you tell her that VERY SPECIFIC thing you need again, asking if that's something the doctor has history or marked experience in, she says in a tone like you're torturing her loved one, "I really don't know all the things the doctor knows." She's not meaning she's never gone to medical school, she's flatly replying that she doesn't have any clue what specified medicine the doctor has in her brain-vault! Okay, fine, THAT'S WHY YOU ASKED BEFORE SHE CALLED YOU BACK, but let's be awesome and move on from that point. Except, wait for it... wait for it... "Did you read the blurb on the website that tells you about the doctor?" Hah. -cough- Sorry. Valerie wonders if you hopped online to see if this was something the good doctor could handle, while, VALERIE, the person behind the desk returning phone calls since 8:00 this morning (she called us at 8:30), WORKING FOR SAID DOCTOR doesn't even know. Apparently hasn't read the blurb. If you weren't hacked before, you are now. So, you tell Valerie if she has no interest asking, that's fine, maybe this isn't a good fit, and she now sounds like we've kicked her puppy through a fan as she puts us on hold and drops the call. Well. Did we really expect anything different? You find yourself wondering if that's that... you figure, okay, you'll wait a little while, surely this isn't as bad as it _feels_. They'll just return that call that "their system" "accidentally" "dropped" and you'll get the great answer to what appears to be unknowable... but by 8:56 no one has called back. Okay then. You already know this isn't an appointment you're going to keep or even take, but for kicks and grins (I mean, she DID wake you up at 8:30), you call back and are all like, "Hi Valerie, it's (your name). You called me a while ago and you were gonna check to see if the doctor could handle that problem we discussed, remember? Right as you put me on hold, your system dropped the call. I waited half an hour and no return." Valerie stutters for a few seconds, then finally gets it together enough to say this, "Yeah, I saw the phone, we've just been handling other calls this morning." And there it is. L.O.L. I'm a chill person. I've got a problem and I'm looking for a reasonable, experienced, decent human of an MD to maybe help me fix it. This problem I have has been an excruciating situation that's been affecting me for almost 30 years (and when I say excruciating think putting out lit cigarettes on sensitive body parts, yeah) and, yet, even with all that, I still manage to be a pretty chill person. I loved this office and had a baby with Dr. Michel. Something happened when a new company took over this office. So many great employees disappeared and the office lost its soul. Even Dr Michel changed and it was heartbreaking. I moved and an unknown mass was found in my pelvic region about a week after my move, during covid and before I was able to establish care with a local OBgYN. I needed a referral to an oncologist to review my scans and determine a plan - and Dr Michel, who had been my doctor through so much, refused to give me the referral I needed. I couldn't believe it. My primary physician from Round Rock sent in the referral, no questions asked. There is no reason Dr. Michel couldn't have done so. This is not the kind of compassionate care I would want from someone who is going to help me through a pregnancy. I am just so disappointed. read more

I went to Oakwood Womans a year ago, the Dr that I went to is out on maturity leave. So while trying to schedule my annual for this year I was informed that this Doctor whom Ive never been seen by would now be the ONLY Doctor available for me to see at their facility ever again I wouldnt be able to choose another. I exclaimed what if I didnt like this doctor? Didnt matter Id have to leave their office?? Im sorry WHAT? That should be illegal. I was a patient of Cornerstone for 17 years, and over the years, each of my doctors retired. I went to Oakwood to see Dr. Anger since my medical records transferred there with the practice. A nice thing they do is give you a tablet to fill our or update your medical information. Makes the process much faster. The office is nice. The staff were professional. Waiting area is comfortable. Dr. Anger's exam rooms are cozy. I have no complaints at all about my visit. I was seen quickly for my annual exam. The office was cold when I was there. Take a jacket or blanket to stay warm in the exam bed! read more

I am very unhappy with the transition to Ascension Seton. I called to confirm I was good with my insurance before my annual pap and mammo and was told "yes, they accepted my insurance". Imagine my surprise when I received a bill for $900+! I would never have kept that appointment if I thought there was a problem. My insurance company said they just needed to resubmit the claim, so I'm hopeful they'll correct this problem. read more

I read through all of the reviews to see why this practice didn't have a higher average and after reading them I just encourage anyone out there who is just looking at the average to actually read what people are complaining about. Things that have nothing to do with this practice (insurance charging too much for labs (which are through CPL, not this office by the way). I'm just trying to say people, Yelp about the place you visit not about things out of their control. I used to be one of those people who just saw an average and quickly moved on and dismissed something that wasn't near perfect. Now I read reviews to make sure I'm truly informed. Now for my much awaited review. ;-) I went to the same OBGYN, who I absolutely adored for 14 years. He retired and I'm expecting so I was clearly not happy trying to find a new one. He recommended Dr. Maunder so I took his advice. Dr. Maunder, his nurse Zana, and assistant Kim are all very thoughtful, and take their time. It's a big practice, which I was nervous about because I came from a very small one, but I have always received very personalized attention. I have had a myriad of issues with this pregnancy, and they have calmly and conscientiously address each one making me feel at ease. They've been my practice for 3 months now with near weekly visits. I wouldn't recommend this office to anyone. The lack of professionalism from this place is ridiculous. The front desk staff is incredibly rude and non professional. They lose paperwork and don't ever pick up the phone nor call back when I left voicemails. It is very hard to get anything scheduled correctly. The doctors can be forgetful and very short during visits. I never felt like I was being listened to or given great knowledge during my prenatal visits. I did not feel comfortable going through with delivering at that hospital with that team. The only positive experience I had was the two nurses I was given. They were kind and able to give great answers to any questions I had. It was difficult to get switched over to a new OBGYN but was very relieved once they finally sent over my medical records. Front desk is very rude. What a great way to start my day and the first people to see when you walk in.

Dr Duncan has been my OBGYN for the last eight years. She has followed me throughout my three pregnancies and has been an incredible support system/doctor/another fellow mother/etc. I've had the same complications in each one of my pregnancies that have always resulted in hospitalizations to help resolve the issues. These were difficult hospitalizations and Dr Duncan was extremely supportive and compassionate each time I was admitted. She came to see me multiple times each day, was ALWAYS available ANYTIME a nurse called her for orders or guidance on my care. Dr Duncan has become almost like a member of my family. She has experienced ups and downs with me and has been with me through the good and the bad. She delivered my son via c-section and did an excellent job. Scar was MINIMAL and the experience was amazing/beautiful/spiritual even though it was a major surgery. She also let me pick my own playlist in the OR :) I absolutely love and adore Dr Duncan and have followed her from TWO other practices over the last several years so she would remain my OBGYN. I don't know much about Oakwood (they always get me in on time and the staff has been great overall there) but I DO KNOW Dr Duncan's care as a physician and it's top notch. If you are reading this Dr Duncan, I love you! You are the best! read more

This office is nothing compared to the one on the South location with Dr. Palmer. The front office lady didn't seem like she knew what she was doing. I didn't feel welcome at all. I should have read the reviews. I now live in RoundRock and I thought this was going to be a pleasant experience but it was the worst experience I've had. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone. DO NOT go to oakwood women's center in round rock. Worst experience I have had at a doctor in my entire life. I was 2 minutes late to my appointment due to car accidents on 35 and tried calling 4 times to let them know I was still coming but they wouldn't answer their phone due to being on lunch until 1:00 when my appointment was scheduled. I have never been treated so poorly by someone. I asked if I could wait for a time to open up and she said "no that's why you show up to your appointments on time" I told her I drove over an hour and half to get there and there was accidents and she completely ignored me and told me I could wait 3 weeks for another appointment. I asked her if she could check to see if there was anything else I could do to be seen today and she refused to even try and continued being rude and said "sorry that's why you need to be on time" i continued to tell her I waited for this appointment for 5 weeks and drove 1.5 just to get there and she just stared at me. Dr. Orth is great! Why she's four stars: if you're a new patient and have questions, you get to talk with her BEFORE awkwardly undressing. She's funny, professional, and treated me with respect. When she accidentally confused me with another patient (randomly asking if my sister was back from Wyoming, or something), we had a good laugh. The exam room was clean, and had a modern chair/table conversion system that was actually much easier to use. She mentioned that pregnant patients would request that exam room, because you don't have to heft yourself around and wiggle (gals, you know what I mean). When I needed lab tests, the actual blood draw was done in another part of her office. I didn't have to drive to some scary lab on the other side of Kyle! And I got the results easily, with a polite followup call from her nurse asking if I had any questions. Most importantly, she listened to my concerns and treated me with respect for my age and education. I know I'll be back to see her. And her nurse, Paula, is very polite and smart!
